The modest accommodations vary; Ever sleep in a Dungeon or Rappunzels Tower - well theres tamer boudoir's as well, like the Masters quarters on the main living floor and the guest suite with large private sun deck theres even outdoor futons that make true beauty of our Sunsets, Stars, Sunrises, oh and did I go on about Tucson lights at night, pretty magical !
Amenities you ask?
Family kitchen, two hands needed for dishwashing but mixer, micro and toaster all here. Theres a clothes washer but our dry desert air make it easy and fast to line dry so thats mostly what we do. Great place, master piece in progress
Really felt like a castle, my 12 year old loved his room in the tower. My favorite was the dungeon. Need to be young at heart to stay there. Master bedroom was fantastic. Cool place, a work in progress. Daniel was a good host and has a neat vision. Scott from KS
Another thing about this property not mentioned in the reviews I read is that there is access from the property to the trail system at Tucson Mountain Park. Miles and miles of trails! Great cactus and ocotillo groves and views! Plus great horned owls were hooting on the roof the night we arrived.
Fun and relaxing
We were in town for my son's baseball games at the Kino Complex. We had a great time and enjoyed the Castle. Dan was a great host and helped make our stay enjoyable. We look forward to coming back in a couple years and seeing the new additions to the place.
Thank you, and yup, always a project going on. Next up, spiral stairs and finally “the Moat “
Very interesting and unique property. Still a work in progress with unfinished areas in main floor bath. Upstairs bedroom in the tower was a kids' favorite, however the dungeon was a little too creepy for any of them to feel comfortable sleeping in. Great views off of the balcony, especially at sunrise/sunset. Central location in South Tucson near I-19 and I-10 interchange. Owner lives in apartment on lower level and available for any concerns/needs.
Unique house near some of the best sites in Tucson!
This place might not be for everyone. It has uneven stone floors, swords on many walls, steep narrow stairs and, yes, even a dungeon. But, if you’re open to an unique experience that will add fantasy and whim to your Tucson visit, then we highly recommend that you stay at Mollohan Castle! The owner, Danny, is a kind, friendly and helpful host. In fact, his peaceful personality is a contrast to the armed castle-theme, and that just adds to this memorable and eclectic Tucson experience.
My husband and I, our college-aged daughter, two teen-aged sons and a friend all stayed here comfortably over a long weekend. My youngest son was a little spooked by the visit to the dungeon when we first arrived. But even he warmed up to the castle theme and was soon exploring the place, and was especially charmed by the outdoor spiral stairway. We all had a great time here. The house is close to the Saguaro National Park, where we spent a lot of the weekend, and it was easy to drive back into town for fun shopping and dinner in the evenings.
Hey thanks for the glowing review. It’s always great to help back up folks with their planned outings in the area. 40 yrs in hospitality, and Exploring the Southwest for over 30, gives me a bit O insight on successful trips and outings especially since I like to help.. Love Your Day,, Danny
A unique experience
Dan Reese, the owner, was an excellent host and accommodated our every need. The "Castle" is a very unique structure and very interesting attributes. Additionally, the view has to be one of the best in the area. The bed in the master bedroom was very comfortable as was the living room. The kitchen is adequately equipped for relatively simple meals.
On the down side, it seems that this facility is still a work in progress. The only small shower is located on the second level and access is difficult because a fold-down bed consumes half the stairway. Furthermore, the overall experience would be improved if unused/unnecessary equipment were removed from the building and the surrounding area.
Access to the "Castle" can be an issue because our GPS led us to a road, Cook, that dead ends. Must use Brown to access the unimproved road to the "Castle" that has an impressive entrance.
