Amazing Anniversary Trip
Nothing is perfect, but an Awesome #29 anniversary vacation spot to unwind for a week. Just make sure to get there in daylight, difficult to find in the dark & having to back down the drive way. Recently remodeled & very nicely done. The pool was too cold to swim, however we stayed at the beach most of the time. Thanks for the cooler, towels & chairs to take. No A/C at night in the living area got warm, so we hung out on the porches. The outdoor bed is awesome...Thanks for the bug spray! Kristen left us a few grocery items to enjoy & much appreciated. The view is unbeatable & breathtaking! Interesting shower, however would suggest having a stool at the sink...Short people can't reach. We took a private yacht with Elixir Charters...amazing day at sea! Some of the suggested places to visit were closed, so we explored alot in our rented jeep. Melt Mexican Grill was delicious, Duffy's Love Shack had great drinks, Root 42 B&G was great food & entertainment! We took the car ferry over to St.John & great food at Greengos Caribbean Cantina. Lots of grilling on the porch made for awesome stress free evenings! Magen's Bay was a fun beach, more quiet on the left side. Hull Bay was awesome for snorkeling & privacy. We had a bit of trouble checking in on the kitchen tablet, but Kristen helped me thru it. Overall an awesome memorable anniversary vacation!
This is a beautiful house perfect for 2 adults. I was by myself so I could visit my father who lives there but I enjoyed the view of Hans Lollik from the bedroom and swimming in the pool every morning. Liz has had the flooring and furniture replaced so it is even lovelier than pictured here. As the previous reviewer noted, there are mosquitoes but I found an OFF mosquito fan at Kmart that worked well in the bedroom at night. Just make sure to buy enough refills as one only last 12 hours. BTW, across the street from the Kmart downtown is The Fruit Bowl, which has very fresh meat and produce.
My next trip to St. Thomas, I would love to stay at On The Rocks again with my husband. Peterborg is one of the most beautiful places to stay on St. Thomas and this house is perfect for a couple hoping to unwind and enjoy some time to themselves.
A Private Retreat with Mesmerizing Views
My husband and I work very hard and had just completed a massive project together. We were burnt out and in need of rest, relaxation, and reconnecting as people who actually like each other and not just work colleagues. From the minute we stepped into On The Rocks everything was perfect. The views are extraordinary and the amenities are thoughtful and plentiful. The place was gorgeous from the online photos but was even better when we got there. The owner had recently refurbished and refreshed both the indoors and outdoors and the decor was perfction -- like being in an upscale hotel for a fraction of the price. The kitchen was well laid out and very well equipped. Arriving to find eggs, English muffins, butter, Rum, Coke, watter, and limes waiting for us after a long trip was a lovely touch. We swam at Magens Bay every morning and then spent most of our time reading, napping, lounging, jumping in the plunch pool, and taking in the views. We only went out for meals twice -- one lunch and one dinner but in all honesty, I wish we'd stayed in for those meals. The villa is not easy to get to (which in my opinion is part of its charm) and you definitely need to be a confident driver who can deal with driving on the left hand side of the road, but once you learn the ropes, it was fine. The owner Liz, is very clear and a good communicator. We were also very well taken care of by the villa manager Kristen who checked in via text to make sure things were running smoothly. There are bugs. No-see-ums. And they got to be annoying at times—particularly in the early morning and at dusk. We tried to buy citronella candles but couldn't find any. Next time, I would take some with me along with some natural bug spray. Things we loved? Proximity to an amazing beach, stunning views, multiple options for outdoor relaxation, watching the stars from the outdoor day bed, the views from the bedroom, the incredibly fluffy and long beach towels, the thoughtful provisions, great internet (I had to do a little work while there), the stacks of soft pillows on the bed, the beautiful decor, the sound of the waves and the serenity. A fantastic getaway! Highly recommend.
DON’T STAY IN THIS HOUSE...
Because you will NEVER wanna leave!! The photos don’t do justice to the size of the house and the stunning views! My husband and I stayed here in August and had the most relaxing vacation in years! We spent hours on the comfortable wrap around porch talking and reading and listening to waves crash on the rocky cliffs below! We chilled in the pool or napped on the outdoor bedside balcony seat!
The bedroom was so comfortable and the kitchen was user friendly in every way!
There were definitely mosquitoes but plenty of spray and citronella candles to help keep them at bay! We loved the open airiness of the house! With the breeze and ceiling fans we felt great each day. The a/c in the bedroom kept things very comfortable at night!
Cindy is so helpful and gave us many dining recommendations! We rarely left the house but we did enjoy Hook Line and Sinker as well as French Quarter Bistro!
We spent some time at beautiful Magen’s Bay. The roads are crazy! Driving is quite the adventure but the views along every road are second to none! Husband enjoyed the local rum! We can not recommend this vacation home enough! I’m stil missing it a month later!!
Amazing Stay at On The Rocks
My wife and I stayed at "On The Rocks" and had a wonderful time. The villa is well equipped and decorated with quality furnishings. The location is convenient to many restaurants and close to town, but also very private and secure as it is in a gated community. The pool was great and the view of the turquoise water, blue skies, rocky cliffs and other islands was amazing.
Cindie the manager was great with communication and ensured all was ready prior to our arrival. We would highly recommend Cindie and "On The Rocks" villa.
We will certainly plan to stay again.
We had to postpone our original plans in late 2017 due to the hurricanes but "On the Rocks" was well worth the wait. The views were breathtaking with the never ending breezes off the Atlantic made for a very comfortable vacation. The house seems to have recovered nicely from the two Cat 5's! Cindie was great and she was there to answer any questions or concerns we had. We will definitely be back!
I am so glad you finally made it. It sure was quite the year with the hurricanes and postponing your vacation twice. By the time you arrived I felt like we were already fast friends. I was right. I am looking forward to your next visit and another nice evening out. I am so glad you enjoyed out little piece of heaven on earth... On the Rocks is such a special place....
