About the property

Welcome To Maria Gabriella

Ashort way from Porta St. Agata, the main gate to the medieval village of Monticchiello, Guido is glad to welcome you in her three Rooms and two Dependance recently refurbished, that belong to an old farmhouse, dating back to the late ’500, overlooking Valdorcia and placed at the foot of the village, with a view of the ancient towers and of the ramparts.

The BB is very attentive to details and offers all the amenities (wifi, fridge, kitchen, etc. ..) in total relaxation. We will prepare for you delicious and genuine breakfasts.

The house offers a large well-tended garden where the guests can relax and enjoy the wonderful view. A private car park is also available.

From Monticchiello you can easily reach Valdorcia and progress up to Mount Amiata and the Rocca Aldobrandesca in Castiglion d’Orcia. Besides relaxing, in the tranquility of small restaurants of the village you can find the best typical products of the valley (olive-oil, cheeses and wines). In summer you can see the plays of “Teatro Povero”, which are world-famous for being written and performed by Monticchiello habitants.

Pienza, the Renaissance town that pope Pious II wanted to rebuild, is also very close. The thermal baths of Bagno Vignoni are another fascinating visit. The nearby town of Montalcino is paticularly well-known for its wine, the “Brunello”. San Quirico is worth a visit for its Collegiata Church. The woods of Amiata. Montepulciano, “pearl” of Cinquecento is famous for its “Nobile” wine and recently has been chosen as a natural “film set” for the second chapter of Twilight Saga, New Moon. Chiusi, with its National Etruscan Museum offers a different point of view.

Magical

  • 5 of 5

Our group of 8 stayed here for three nights during our recent tour of Italy. What a magical experience! The home and grounds are beautiful and Guido and his Aunt took wonderful care of us while we were there. Unforgettable to wake up in this setting with the smells of breakfast below as they cooked for you each day. Guido also brought in a private chef service for us one night and we enjoyed the delicious food they cooked for us. The small town of Monticchiello is just up the hill a short 5 minute walk gets to you more restaurant choices. The views are astounding from every vantage point. Highly recommend this home, you will not regret it.

A little bit of Heaven!

  • 5 of 5

My family stayed five days at Maria Gabreala. There were 10 people in our group. The bed rooms were large, with nice bathrooms and were very clean and comfortable. The main part of the house, kitchen, dining room, and living room was large, comfortable, clean, and nicely decorated.

Guido was the perfect host, always available to make us all feel at home. He arranged a delicious dinner at the Villa. The dinner was very good, although the food was all somewhat traditional, it was prepared and presented in a manner that was a little different than I expected, but was even better than I anticipated. It was great.

Guido and his Aunt Simonetta were at the Villa each morning preparing a beautiful breakfast for us Breakfast was served in the veranda Padio,

Outside the Villa included a Beautiful garden with plenty of seating for everyone. The view was spectacular, encluding the sunset each evening.

Another nice feature about the Villa is that it is located within 100 feet of the entrance into the beautiful village of Monticchiello. The village is like stepping back 600 years in time. There are really good 1st class restaurants and shops there. And the view will take your breath away.

I could go on for a awhile, but I’m running out of time. So I’ll close by saying that it was a little bit of heaven. Thank You Guido for always being there for us. My family and I plan to return for another vacation at the Villa!

Ciao

Lovely hilltop village

  • 5 of 5

Guido and his aunt were very warm and welcoming. He happily shared his knowledge of of this beautiful area of Val D’Orcia. The property has a lovely garden with great views; you can even see another hilltop town, Pienza from there. The village itself is quaint and not overwhelmed by tourists. There are shops, one a particularly nice linen shop, and a wonderful restaurant, LaPorta. A great base for day tripping to other Tuscan towns and a large number of excellent wineries.
