Our family had a wonderful time. It started with the great communication from the property manager, Deborah, and her willingness to meet us at the ferry, help us find our rental jeep, and show us around so that we could get settled nicely. The house is laid out beautifully, and that view - my goodness that view - never gets old. We snorkeled every day (first time on St John), and it has the best snorkeling I have seen. The convenience of the location of the home to the beaches on the north and south shore plus to local markets can't be beat. Highly recommend this property.
Beautiful, very clean, great views, centrally located to south and north beaches
Pleasant, lovely home with great views and easy to get to many beaches. Very quiet at night.
Lovely home, perfect getaway
My family (mom, dad, teenager) stayed at Coral Livin’ mid-July. Weather was sunny, hot, humid, and breezy. The home is large and very clean. We let our 14 year old son take the upstairs master bedroom and my husband and I stayed in one of the downstairs bedrooms. That worked well for us - loved the outdoor shower right outside our downstairs bedroom. I was worried about driving, the roads, the driveway, but it was all good!! The house has a short easy driveway off of a 1 minute drive off the main road - this quick drive was a bit ruddy in places and has one switchback. Nothing our Jeep couldn’t easily handle and we even enjoyed it. The house is SO close to the community of Coral Bay - so easy to get to the well-stocked Dolphin Market (yes, the one in Cruz Bay is much bigger) and restaurants (we loved Oasis and also are well at Pickles in Paradise and Skinny Legs). The house is a 10 minute drive to Maho Bay (smoothie stand is 1/2 way there), and just a few more minutes to the other North Shore beaches. The house is well stocked - great pots, pans, dishes, new fridge, stove, dishwasher. Everything worked well, including WiFi. The house is pretty new - 2014 I think - and has been well kept. The deck upstairs is huge and lots of chairs and tables. The master bath on upstairs level is very large - great shower! There are fans in every room (even the two bathrooms downstairs) and work well. We did not wish we had air conditioning for one moment. The breeze at night, coupled w the fan, had us reaching for a light blanket. Loved the breeze! Coffee pot was new and large, strong blender. When we are at home (every breakfast and a dinner), we always ate outside. The views!! Amazing. Per our plan, we were met at the Cruz Bay supermarket and were led to Coral Livin’ - given the roads, which we’d never driven on, it was so nice to follow someone directly to the house. (We got our snorkel gear and then our car rental before we went to the Cruz Bay supermarket). Of course, this home also gave us great access to east-side beaches. When we’re lucky enough to return, we won’t hesitate to stay at Coral Livin’.
Thank you so much for your stellar review, Linda. I only wish we had a chance to meet. Perhaps next time! Enjoy the rest of your summer.
Deborah, Property Manager
Beautiful views, comfortable cottage
Deborah the property manager was great. She picked us up at the ferry dock and took us to pick up a jeep and groceries. The property was lovely with a great view. It had a well equipped kitchen and a large bathroom with washer and dryer upstairs, as well as a spacious master bedroom that opened directly to the veranda. Downstairs 2 BR's each had their own bathrooms. Nice trade wind breezes and ceiling fans kept it comfortable at night in late March. In the nearby town of Coral Bay we enjoyed dinner twice at the Aqua Point restaurant. The food was fresh and there was a lovely singer who sang classic pop tunes. Our favorite beach was Hansen Beach where we could snorkel and rent kayaks. Warning, the house is not air-conditioned so I would not recommend it for later than Mid- April , unless you don't mind warm, humid environments. If we had time, I would have like to explore Cruz Bay more with it's cute shops and restaurants - but we had to go home. Overall, we had a great time and would stay here again.
Incredible week in a beautiful spot
We had an incredible stay at Coral Livin'. The house is as beautiful as it looks in the pictures. Living room and kitchen were bigger than they appear. Great to hang out on the deck every morning and later afternoon before and after daily excursions around St. John. Beautiful view of Coral Bay!! Ceiling fans and a breeze kept the house at a comfortable temperature throughout our week-long stay when we enjoyed temperatures on the island in the mid-80's every day. The house was equipped with a cooler, beach chairs and comfy beach towels to bring to the beaches. Road was a little bumpy, but so are all the roads in St. John. The house was clean and nicely decorated--Very comfortable and spacious for our family of four. Deborah was extremely helpful before we embarked on our visit and as we arrived to the island. She offered advice on rental cars, boat tours, beaches and trails to check out. She also offered to meet us at the ferry and take us to our rental car, grocery store and then show us around Coral Livin'. We would definitely rent this place again and highly recommend it to anyone looking for a great getaway in St. John. No need to look any further: you have found your ideal home away from home at Coral Livin'!!
Excellent Coral Bay Rental for our Family of Four!
Still glowing from our wonderful 10-day adventure on St. John, enjoyed from our excellent home base at Coral Livin'! Deborah was a huge help to get us settled - meeting us at the ferry on Day 1, driving us to our rental jeep, then bringing us grocery shopping, before escorting us right to our front door in Coral Bay. She had great input on items we would need for our stay, as well as places to eat, shop & visit. This property had everything our family of four needed. First off, the views are incredible - the pictures don't do it justice - and can be enjoyed from the deck as well as from the first-floor living room/kitchen space & master bedroom. Plenty of picture windows and screen doors give you access to the view (and the wonderful deck), and also provide plenty of opportunities to catch the great cooling breezes blowing off of Coral Bay. The kitchen is really well equipped (even has a coffee grinder!) and is a really nice space for both preparing & enjoying meals - open, airy, with plenty of counter space and all the gear you need. Dishwasher was a great feature. The master bedroom was a very nice size, and has sliding doors out to the deck. The master bath has a washer/dryer, as well as a wonderful open tiled shower. Our two teenagers loved their rooms, on the ground level - each had their own private entrance, bath with outdoor shower, and even their own TV in each room! My oldest son's room even had a mini-fridge! Other nice features of this space were the beach chairs (6) & coolers (2) for our daily excursions. Also, there are board games, cards & books for evenings at home. The cleaners graciously leave previous renters' kitchen basics for incoming tenants to use - condiments, seasonings, some canned goods, coffee filters, and even leftover spirits for cocktails! We would definitely rent this property again, in a heartbeat. The only drawbacks are if you are uncomfortable with bouncy car rides, the access road up to Coral Livin' is a bit rough - but this is a pretty common on the island, especially at properties perched in such dramatic hillside locations! We were situated only a mile or two from the village of Coral Bay, and multiple shops & restaurants. (Try Aqua Bistro, Indigo, and Miss Lucy's!) Our favorite excursions were Little Lameshur beach (take the short hike to Yawzi Point from the beach to access incredible snorkeling!), Hansen Beach, and Waterlemon Cay. Maho Beach & Jumbie Beaches were great, too!
'Coral Livin' ... at its very best - nestled in the Carolina hillside above Coral Bay, the house looks down over the bay and out beyond to the Caribbean Ocean. Coral Bay, often referred to as the quiet side of St John, has become the perfect little village community. Coral Bay provides everything a relaxing vacation could ask for - shops, restaurants, bars, hiking trails, kayak and boat rentals, all in addition to some of the world's top-ranked beaches. You'll be able to take in some of the most truly amazing swimming, snorkeling, and diving options all within a short driving distance of the house. The house offers a special place to relax, unwind, and have the pleasure of knowing what 'island time' really feels like.
