Cozy Cottage by the Sea

Bedrooms 1
Space 540 sq. ft.
Property type cottage
Minimum Stay 2 nights

About the property

Magnificent view of mountains, river, bay and ocean, near shops and restaurants.

You’ll be in the heart of Yachats known as “the gem of the Oregon coast”. Watch whales, harbor seals, eagles, and a myriad of shore birds from the front deck and living room. Wade the river at low tide to access a beautiful sandy beach (or take a short walk across the Yachats bridge). You'll be within minutes of restaurants (Heidi’s, Ona, Drift Inn, LunaSea), and the famous coffee shop The Green Salmon. A grocery store, shops, wine store, playground, and great pastry/lunch spot, Bread and Roses, are all within 1 to 2 blocks.

The ancient Native American 804 trail starts right outside your front door. Head west, wind around “The Point” (a small state park) to the north and continue past the Adobe for a 1.5 mile spectacular walk along the ocean and rugged coast line to a sandy beach that stretches another 5 miles to Waldport. Head east out of your front door then south to end up on the Amanda trail, which will take you to the 800 foot high look out at Cape Perpetua and the trails beyond.

Up the Yachats River you’ll find “Oreo” cows, Roosevelt elk habitat, and a restored covered bridge. Hiking trails, biking trails and running trails abound throughout the Suislaw National Forest and Cape Perpetua Scenic Area, just south of Yachats.

The cabin has one bedroom with a queen sized bed. A double futon is in a separate back room (a total of 4 quests is allowed). Parking is available on site for one vehicle only. The cabin is equipped with WiFi, TV, a full kitchen, and bath with shower. Come for a visit and cozy up in the cabin or head out to explore. Either way, you’ll want to come back for more.

About Patricia Armstrong, property manager, Mac Lewman, owner

My parents loved Yachats. They bought this cabin in 1963 when the original motel closed and the 5 cabins, of which this is one, were sold. I bought out my siblings when we inherited the cabin. Recently I raised the ceiling in the living room and replaced the flooring throughout the cottage. The cabin was then fully repainted. The painting of the “7” & the “I” in the bedroom were made for fun. It's not something mystical or meaningful to me. I just wanted to add something fun to the black and white room.

Why Patricia Armstrong, property manager, Mac Lewman, owner chose Central Coast

This is a unique property with mountain, river, bay and ocean views. The cabin is nestled in the heart of Yachats, a little town chosen as one of the top 10 places to live and to visit in the US.

What makes this cottage unique

A retired realtor and I were having a glass of wine on the deck some time ago. He said, "Mac, this is a million dollar deck". Another glass of wine and he said "I take that back. This is a billion dollar deck". He's also a great local photographer and he commented when leaving, "I could have taken 200 great pictures while just sitting here with you ". Come visit and you'll see why!

Its All About the View

Even when the weather keeps you off the trails or the beech there is always entertainment just looking out the window of this cabin. Birds, the ocean, the river, folks walking by, etc. The cabin is small but comfortable. Great for a couple or with a pet or small child. And its just a block away from three places to eat or hangout. Two from the grocery. Its hard to beat this cabin in Yachats.

Delightful visit to Yachts!

  • 5 of 5

Came for a girls getaway week-end and we loved this little cottage. Was beyond our expectations. Did the hike to Cape Perpetua and all the trails close to town. Did not drive the car once we arrived were able to walk everywhere. Our favorite spot to eat was Luna's Sea Food, best fish and chips ever!!! Will definitely come back. Sunsets and coffee on the deck were great.

Ice little beach house

  • 4 of 5

This little house is in a very nice location - right on the Yachats estuary and within easy walking distance of shops, a grocery store and restaurants. The kitchen is well equipped. The sitting are is comfortable. The bedroom is small and the double bed has seen better days. Housekeeping is good. There is parking for one compact car.

Birthday and 40th Aniversary

A wonderful place to go back to.

The deck is so well protected from the wind that we sat out and watched the gulls bathe and float down stream to the ocean all afternoon while children played in the beach across the river. We even eyed the resident bald eagle a couple of times on the wing.

Got our first glimpse of a sneaker wave this morning. It was pretty amazing and we now have an ever deeper respect for Mother Nature than ever before. Luckily it was early enough in the morning that no folks, two legged or four, were on the beach at the time.

We were pleased at how well stocked everything was. Even a welcoming mat for our dog Monty who also loved sunning on the front deck. Very dog friendly!

Back at home we feel so relaxed...Thank you for sharing your little bit of heaven at the coast with us. We will be back, and next time we are going to put together the Seattle jigsaw puzzle :) and stay "one more day!"

PS We have been going to Yachats for many years and to our surprise we stumbled upon the wetlands boardwalk for the first time. We highly recommend going there.
