4 Bdrm 3 Bth Lake House with view of Appalachian Trail and Schaghticoke Mountain
Welcome to this gorgeous lakeside estate nestled in the town of Dover, NY in the foothills of the Berkshires, 15 minutes from Kent, CT. This exceptional rental includes exclusive use of the estate's private 35 acre lake.
Perched on a peninsula along the shores of Lake Weil, this stunning 4-bedroom contemporary home offers spectacular lake views from nearly every window.
Pack a lunch and paddle to White Rock, located across the lake (canoes and kayaks provided). Hike along wooded nature trails and look for wildlife. Fish for bass, perch, and sunfish (White Rock Preserve at Lake Weil is a licensed NYS fishing preserve). Challenge friends and family to a game of ping pong or pool in the barn's game room. Further afield, browse through unique shops in one of the nearby towns, or sample wines at one of the region's award-winning wineries. Or, just lounge in the sun and enjoy the serenity of this secluded paradise.
Prepare breakfast in the Spanish style galley kitchen and savor your morning coffee in the adjacent sun room. Relax with a soothing glass of wine on the second story balcony off the master bedroom suite. Enjoy self-prepared meals in the open dining room (table opens to seat 10). Kick back and watch TV (46 inch flat screen) in the spacious, sun-filled living room. Play a rousing game of chess or cards in the cozy den overlooking the lake. Wind down at the end of the day in the 2-person jacuzzi tub. Sleep soundly in one of the 4 tastefully furnished bedrooms (sleeps 11). In the morning, watch the swirling mist roll along the surface of the water.
Spring highlights include bald eagles, osprey, kingfisher, nesting red shouldered hawks, and a wide variety of migrating ducks. In the summer, look for fox, raccoon, and deer. Fall offers breathtaking views of Schaghticoke Mountain, part of the 2,180 mile long Appalachian trail. Winter provides opportunities to snuggle up near the wood stove, snowshoe along trails, or try your hand at winter track identification.
Ideal for family vacations, a group of friends looking for an escape from urban living, or special events.

About John Fila
This is part of a family compound that dates back to the early 1900s. At that time, Joseph Weil, a teacher from New York City, began bringing students to camp in the area. This led to the development of a childrens' camp, Weil's Whispering Pines, and the creation of Lake Weil.
John Fila purchased this Estate in 1910
Why John Fila chose Wingdale
Ideally situated 1.5 hours north of NYC, The Lake House offers a luxurious retreat in a pristine natural setting. The Hudson River Valley and Housatonic River Valley attractions are an easy, scenic drive away. You have easy access to adventurous antiquing (think Litchfield, CT), top-notch restaurants, unique shopping, rich historic sites, award-winning wineries, and much more. And after a day of exploring, wander back and relax at your own, private 65-acre estate.
What makes this Estate unique
Without question this is a unique rental. Lake Weil is part of The Lake House property. You are not simply renting a beautiful home, but also reserving full and exclusive use of this spectacularly scenic lake.

A wonderful week in a wonderful place. So peaceful and beautiful. We'll be back!
The Lake House is a dream spot!
We had a wonderful time at the Lake House! It is well stocked with spices and condiments, pots & pans for all our cooking! Our family got to kayak, row the boat, fish and swim, take walks, learn to dive, roast marshmellows and relax together. We played croquet and rested on the big hammock! This was our second year! Even our dog wants to return! (There's lots of property for the dog to run).
Beautiful, relaxing, private lake vacation
The lake house is absolutely fantastic. The lake is beautiful and being private makes it even more special. The house and property have everything you could need. There is a row boat, canoes, kayaks, fishing gear, sand and lawn games, plenty of outdoor seating. The inside of the house is equally well equipped with everything you could possibly need in the kitchen and fantastic views all around. We had a full house of 11 and were all very comfortable. All 5 of the children (ranging from age 3 to 14) had the time of their lives. Once we were at the house we didn't leave for our entire stay and never felt the need to. There were hours of boating, swimming, playing and relaxing. The owners are very thoughtful and take great pride in their vacation house. Thank you so much for making our week special.
Beautiful private lake and lovely house
Beautiful private lake and lovely house: we swim across the lake and used the kayaks and enjoyed the water. The house is very spacious and well appointed as was the kitchen. There are lots of games to play including croquet, badminton, whiffle ball etc: the kids were never bored. Kent, a picturesque historical country town was 15 minutes away.
We had such a special time at this beautiful home set in a magnificent peaceful setting. All is as described and/or pictured or better! The owners are very communicative and very helpful. They left us a scrumptious fruit basket along with a bottle of wine. We spent time kayaking, swimming, fishing, and rowing during our sunny days. We played checkers, ping pong, shot pool, baked cookies, and played board games on our rainy, gray day. We had a campfire on the beach one night and made s'mores. My basketball son shot hoops for hours. My running daughter found trails to jog. Our dog was in absolute heaven. My mom found spots in the shade to sit and read outside, enjoy the breeze, watch the kids, etc. All in all a great time was had by all. The only hard part was leaving :-) Highly recommended!!
Beautiful home and lake
We thoroughly enjoyed our week at the Lake House. The house was a beautiful home and had lots of nice extras that one does not expect in a rental. Our group loved all of the rooms and windows and views that were in abundance. The kitchen had everything a cook and hostess would need, and then some. The property was also lovely with flowers and lots of things to do and places to sit and enjoy. If you love nature and want peace and quiet, except for some noisy birds and frogs, this is the place for you.
