Complete Power System (generator, batteries and invertor), and of course, running hot water.
Everything you need for cooking is already there. 18 c.f. fridge and stove. Just bring linens. We have lots of blankets.
I share my time between Vancouver, Mexico, and Savary Island. I grew up outside of Quebec city, near the Main border.
Martine Bilodeau purchased this cabin in 2004
I fell in love with the island when I went there by accident 10 years before I bought. I promised myself I'd have a home there one day. I loved the cedar feeling of the cabin - everything smells good, and the view is delightful.
It's only 3 minutes walking from the beach. You get to see the sunset from the Living Room or kitchen. It's quiet, there is much less traffic at the Point.
Well, another great week at your cabin.....weather could have been better, but it didn't hurt our enjoyment....still lots to see and do regardless of the weather.
Thanks for returning the damage deposit. .......
As I am not planning any out-of-country trips next year, I would really like to get your cabin for two weeks instead of one. ......
Thanks again Martine for the use of your cabin, and hope you are enjoying your summer.
Regards,
Great location at west facing Sunset Beach area on Indian Point - one minute walk to the beach. Cabin is a classic wood interior design with all that is needed for a relaxing Savary Island experience. Everything went smoothly. We had a wonderful week walking, biking (bicycles provided) and playing frisbee on the extensive sandy beach. Highly recommended.
What a fantastic time we had at this incredible little gem of a cabin! This place kept reading our minds... jigsaw puzzles, skip-bo, pictionary and a great selection of books. The wood stove was incredibly cozy for the brief downpour we encountered. The kitchen was very well stocked with more than adequate supplies to cook whatever you wanted. The location is fantastic just about a 1 minute walk to sandy beach. Beds are comfortable. If you are looking for modern decor and heated tile flooring you should look elsewhere, but if you want a rustic cabin to relax and disconnect with your busy life this is your place. It's best if you have someone comfortable with operating a generator and water pump, although relatively straight forward to figure out. I feel like this property is totally set up for the laid back type and we could not have found a better spot! Great for kiddos too.
Savary is amazing, but we were sadened and disapointed after having rented this cabin. There were many problems that we had not been made aware of before arriving. The roof leaks in several spots in the entryway. We arrived to a bucket of water catching some of the drips and most landing on the floor in a large puddle.
There is a serious mouse problem, with hallway corners and the lower kitchen cabinets showing ample mouse droppings. We also had to wash fresh mouse poop out of the pans in the morning. This was likely exarcerbated by the amount of food (oats) left in the cabin by others.
Many of the pillows and blankets for the bedding were rank. Thankfully, there were many to choose from and I found some that were cleaner.
The toilets were filthy and had a thick brown layer of toilet film inside. It does not seem possible that they could have been cleaned any time recently to get in that condition. I would guess a month at least since the last clean.
There was a note asking us to burn used toilet paper in the wood stove in the kitchen. The kitchen! The very idea that the ashes I cleaned out of the stove may have contained other people's used toilet paper was beyond disturbing.
Dressers were missing handles, a huge dog bed in the living room covered my children in hair, a leak from a bathroom flooded the hall one day, there was almost no room for us to put our groceries - no pantry and barely any cupboard space, a back room packed with building and other supplies of the owners - and a sliding glass door leading to an unbuilt balcony off the master bedroom, resulting in a 4-5 foot drop added an unexpected hazzard for our young children.
There are many wonderful places to stay on Savary and I have been in many of them myself. We were very disapointed with this cabin. These problems do not seem to be new as most of the families we spoke to on the beach knew of the cabin and had heard many complaints from renters over the years. It seems to have a bad reputation.
When I contacted the owner, my concerns were dismissed.
We would not recommend this cabin to anyone. I would give 0 stars if it were possible.
My family (husband, 2 year old and 4 month old) stayed at Martine's place on Savary Island last summer for a few days- it was magical. A perfect setting- set back in the woods only steps from the most amazingly beautiful beach. A rustic cabin that was perfect for our needs. We parked ourselves at the beach most days and we were so close for baby naps, food, and washroom breaks. I think about our stay often and only wish Savary was closer but that would only take away from it's magical and unique allure. Martine was an awesome host- even though she was not there-I felt assured with all of the info- help she provided and we were welcomed by her neighbor who showed us the property and provided all details again. I absolutely recommend staying at Martine's place...special memories are made on Savary. Thanks Martine
Ambulance available in the summer time. My neighbour rents kayaks and paddle boards and he is very reasonable. I have 4 adult and 2 young kids bikes at the cabin, and a game of crocket you can play on the beach.

Cancellation Policy Strict: 50% up to 7 days prior to checking except VRBO booking fees. Cancellation fee may be superseded by extenuating circumstances if we are able to fill the booking. This is an older, rustic cabin near the beach. The owner doesn't live on the property, although help is available if there is a problem. You will have to pump up the water every day (with a Honda gas pump - easy to do) for 10 -60 mn to keep the big tank full, by courtesy to the next renters, and so you don't have to fill an empty tank (would take longer). You must be able to handle; You also must be able to start a small Honda generator (also easy to do). Solar system is next on the list, but you will have to start the generator every day and let it run for 2 hours, when you are most likely to use power (and that's when you use the blender or power hungry small appliances) to charge the batteries. Then you have power all day. The $200 damage deposit will be refunded when cabin left tidy.
