About Lesley Walkington
Originally from Jackson, Mississippi, I grew up visiting Oxford to see family and friends. My father was born in Oxford and my grandfather attended Ole Miss. After living in Nashville, Tennessee and San Diego, California for many years, I decided it was time to get back to my Southern roots. Luckily, my California surfer-dude husband loves cornbread, sweet iced tea, fried chicken, pecan pie, and sittin' on our front porch swing!
Lesley Walkington purchased this Bungalow in 2013
Why Lesley Walkington chose Oxford
Great location, private and quiet! It's walking distance to the Square and Grove.
What makes this Bungalow unique
This house is a craftsman-style bungalow, built in 1939 (apartment added in 1950's), with lots of charm and the best location in town. We are on a quiet cul-de-sac. It sits on half an acre in the heart of Oxford's Historic District. You can walk everywhere -- 1/2 block to Rowan Oak, about four blocks to the Square and walking distance from the Grove. The main house and the 1-bedroom apartment share one common kitchen wall, so it's still private and quiet. The apartment has a large back deck for relaxing and grilling out. There's plenty of off-street parking which is a big bonus on ballgame weekends.

Perfect little cottage for a perfect getaway.
We rented this cottage for parent's weekend. It was perfect. Close to campus and into town. It was perfectly decorated and had all the amenities we needed. Loved it and would definitely rent again! Simply Charming!!
Cozy accommodations; great location
Perfect place to stay for an Ole Miss football weekend! Quiet, safe neighborhood that's walking distance to the Square, the Grove, and Vaught-Hemingway Stadium.
We parked our car on Friday afternoon and didn't start it up again until Sunday morning.
The house was very clean and had all the necessities for an enjoyable stay. We definitely recommend this place.
My family and I rented this house out for a wedding and it was amazing!! My sister has a 9 month old son so having the back cottage worked out perfectly for them! I highly recommend renting this house it is absolutely perfect and very charming.
So glad you had a great time in Oxford and enjoyed the house!!
The cottage we stayed in was adorable. It was one of the many highlights of our trip. I can say we will all be trying to book the Walkington house in the future!
I look forward to seeing you again. Thanks for choosing my Cottage for your visit to Oxford.
An excellent and tidy place in Oxford
Eight of us shared the house (house only - not the cottage) for an Ole Miss baseball weekend, and we all fit perfectly well. The house is very well located in a quiet neighborhood, in easy walking distance to the Square and campus. It's very spiffy - well appointed, and comfortable. Excellent beds, clean linens, plenty of towels, classy decor. We were very pleased - I would definitely recommend the Walkington House!
One surprise: the cottage is fully attached to the back of the house - not physically separate from it.
Come back anytime! I'm glad the house met your needs and was comfortable for all eight of you guys.
When you stay at the Walkington House & Cottage you are walking distance to many of Oxford's best attractions and activities, including: -- One block from Rowan Oak - home to Nobel Prize winning author William Faulkner. -- Four blocks to The Square - The square is home to a variety of shops and elegant boutiques including the south’s oldest department store. Around the bend you will find one of the nation’s most renowned independent bookstores and an art gallery featuring a variety of art forms and monthly showings. Extraordinary cuisine is also abundant around the Historic Downtown Square. From down-home southern cooking to elegant haute cuisine, there is something to satisfy everyone’s appetite. The epicenter of Oxford’s nightlife is the Square. -- 15 minute walk to The Grove - the legendary tailgating area located in the center of the University of Mississippi's campus. It's the best pre-game spot to be!
