*** Located in Oxford's Historic District

*** Short walk to the Grove

*** Just a few blocks from the Square

*** Cottage built in 1950s, remodeled in 2014

Just a few blocks from restaurants, shopping and nightlife, the Walkington Cottage is the perfect retreat for any occasion. Located in the Historic District, a few blocks from the Oxford Square, the Walkington Cottage is nestled on a half-acre lot. You'll enjoy all the Southern charm this updated and restored 1950's one-bedroom cottage has to offer.

The 1-bedroom Cottage is well appointed with original white oak wood floors, old heart pine floors in the kitchen, a gas fireplace, LCD TV, Queen-size sleeper sofa and a screened side porch that is shared with the Main House. The Cottage features a spacious back deck, 12’ x 20’, that offers a great outdoor area for dining. The Cottage has a private and separate entrance from the Main House and off-street parking. It sleeps up to four.

Make the Walkington Cottage your Rebel sports headquarters with a short walk to Ole Miss ballgames. Plus, you're only one block from Rowan Oak, William Faulkner’s historic home. If you love nature, you will enjoy the walk through Bailey’s Woods Trail that links Rowan Oak, to Vaught–Hemingway Stadium, Tad Smith Coliseum and Swayze Field.

We hope you enjoy your upcoming visit to Oxford, and we hope you choose the Walkington Cottage for your Oxford stay. If there is anything we can do to make your stay more memorable, please don't hesitate to ask. We love helping celebrate special occasions, and helping coordinate a variety of services for our out-of-town guests.

About Lesley Walkington

Originally from Jackson, Mississippi, I grew up spending a lot of time in Oxford visiting family and friends. My father was born in Oxford and my grandfather went to Ole Miss. I even spent a short time as a student at Ole Miss and have always loved the town.

I have lived in Nashville, Tennessee and most recently San Diego, California where I met my husband. After we had our daughter, I realized the greatest gift that I can give her is a Southern upbringing with all it's rich culture and history. So, we all moved back to Mississippi, and more specifically to my father's hometown of Oxford. Luckily, my California surfer-dude husband loves cornbread, sweet iced tea, fried chicken, pecan pie, and sittin' on our porch swing!

Why Lesley Walkington chose Mississippi

I chose this particular property in Oxford because of it's location. Walking distance to the Oxford Square and Ole Miss football games!

What makes this cottage unique

I fell in love with this home because of its charm and location. It sits on half an acre in the heart of Oxford's Historic District. You can walk everywhere -- one block to Rowan Oak, four blocks to the Square and 10 minutes to the Grove or a ballgame. It also offers flexibility in living spaces. The main house is separated from the cottage by a screened porch. Both houses have privacy with outdoor living spaces too. There's plenty of off-street parking for both the main house and the cottage which is a big bonus on ballgame weekends.

Cozy accommodations; great location

  • 5 of 5

Perfect place to stay for an Ole Miss football weekend! Quiet, safe neighborhood that's walking distance to the Square, the Grove, and Vaught-Hemingway Stadium.

We parked our car on Friday afternoon and didn't start it up again until Sunday morning.

The house was very clean and had all the necessities for an enjoyable stay. We definitely recommend this place.

An excellent and tidy place in Oxford

  • 5 of 5

Eight of us shared the house (house only - not the cottage) for an Ole Miss baseball weekend, and we all fit perfectly well. The house is very well located in a quiet neighborhood, in easy walking distance to the Square and campus. It's very spiffy - well appointed, and comfortable. Excellent beds, clean linens, plenty of towels, classy decor. We were very pleased - I would definitely recommend the Walkington House!

One surprise: the cottage is fully attached to the back of the house - not physically separate from it.
