  • Enjoyed our Stay

"Reservation was easy and Miss Cox was wonderful and helpful. However, when I called the office to ask for last minute details I was made to feel like I was bothering the person I spoke to. Upon arrival community is beautifully decorated. Villa was a little hard to find at first because the way the front door is facing. Villa was roomy and well laid out. Enclosed garage was a godsend. A little tight for two cars but ok unless you have large SUV. Villa was in great location. Price was very good. I can not rate the pool because we did not use. Housekeeping needs improvement such as coffee filter was left in coffee maker and was warm like it had just been used. Sheets in queen bedroom didn't seem clean so we had to wash. Only trash bag was in trashcan no extra. Dryer took forever and we cleaned out ALOT of lint. Horrible fish smell in kitchen sink. Broom was unusable and no dustpan. Overall didn't seem as clean as I would like but I do not blame this on the owners. Had a problem with guy in 802 had parked in front of villa and blocked sidewalk (we needed for handicap wheelchair). He did move but however he moved back and we were blocked the next day. Luckily no one was parked in other space and we had to maneuver between the cement blocks to get wheelchair into villa. Upstairs children were up at 5 each morning and sounded like elephants running. One of our children stepped in dog mess from someone who was inconsiderate in the community. Living room furniture was not what is in the picture. Couch was VERY uncomfortable and forget sleeping on. Needs replacing. Although there are always going to be small problems to face overall we had a wonderful time."

  • Great Location and Owner!

"As a resident of Ocean Springs, I have driven and biked by this home many times not even realizing it was a BnB. I toured it last week and it is a really neat property and Marian was so nice. This would be the perfect spot to stay if you are from out of town or even if you are local and just wanted a "staycation" for a weekend. Walking distance to the beach and downtown and has great historic appeal as well. I would recommend Oak Shade to anyone wanting something other than your typical hotel as a place to stay in OS. Lots of rooms, nice soaking tubs, manicured grounds and relaxing patios & front porch if you just want to sit and relax with coffee or one of her many books from her library. 2 thumbs up!"

  • Cozy and Comfortable Cottage!!

"We really enjoyed staying at the Sea Turtle this vacation! We had more than enough space for our family of 4 and really appreciated being able to bring our dog along as well. It was clean and the decor made you feel right at home as soon as you stepped through the door. We loved all of the antique furniture, the decorative 'beach' touches throughout, and the piano which we had fun playing every day. It was stocked with everything we needed for our week. The area was great. We spent many days on the beach in Gulfport and Long Beach. We drove to the beach every day, though it would not have been a bad walk at all. It was hot and we had a lot of stuff to take and with plenty of parking it didn't make sense to lug it all when we could just drive and park where we wanted. The best beach was Ship Island. The ferry ride was fun, the beach was beautiful, and the water was clearer than the other beaches we were on. We searched for shells and it was fun to watch the blue crabs scurry away as you walked up to them as we had never seen anything like that before. Would recommend just renting the umbrellas and chairs they have there as it's a little walk to the beach from the pier where you're let off. Tony's Brick Oven Pizzeria was excellent downtown and we appreciated the gift certificate Beth left for us when we got there. That was very thoughtful and was a nice treat after a long drive to get there! We also ate at Steve's Marina Restaurant one night (really good and sat outside on the balcony) and Shaggy's (sat on the balcony-fun, but we weren't as crazy about the food here..) We visited the Gulfport outlet mall one day and Beauvoir (Jefferson Davis' home) and the Katrina Memorial; both in Biloxi. New Orleans was a little over an hour away so that made for a fun and enjoyable day trip. I have always wanted to go there and it did not disappoint; food, music, shopping, and people. All in all, this trip was fantastic and there were so many different things to do and see. And lastly, if you go, get up early and do not miss the sunrises' at Gulfport Harbor. They are beautiful and what a way to start the day........ No regrets! We would stay here again if we ever get back to the area. Thanks for creating such a relaxing and comfy space, Beth!"
