About Sheri Hall - Managing Partner

Our family is originally from Southern California. I'm the oldest child and have a brother 9 years younger. Our parents, both being educators, had summers off and chose to spend them in Island Park. We eventually moved to Bozeman Montana,

Where my brother and I both graduated from Bozeman High School and Montana State University. Additionally, I went on to earn an advanced degree from University of North Carolina. 5 years ago circumstances changed within our family, and I decided to turn our family home into a vacation rental. I love people and enjoy interacting with our guests. We'd love to have you visit our lovely home, and enjoy the beauty and recreational opportunities of Island Park and Yellowstone. I look forward to hearing from you! ~Sheri

Sheri Hall - Managing Partner purchased this cabin in 1961

Why Sheri Hall - Managing Partner chose Macks Inn

Our parents fell in love with Island Park while vacationing and working summers here in the early 1960's. They decided to build a cabin so they could spend their summers in the Island Park, Yellowstone area. A new subdivision had just been created and our family bought our property, building the 2nd home in this beautiful area surrounded by US Forest Service land. This is our treasured family cabin that was built by our parents and grandparents In the early 1960's.

The Canadian cedar tongue and groove logs the cabin is built from arrived on a flatbed semi-truck from California with a set of instructions on how to put it together. The cabin was built in one summer, with the interior work completed over the next two years. Dad and Grandpa built the custom cabinets for the kitchen and installed the oak hardwood floors. Over the years, the cabin has been a labor of love for us and our parents. Originally a summer home, the cabin was converted for year-round use in 1990. Recently updated, the cabin now has all the amenities of a well appointed home, while still retaining its original charm.

What makes this cabin unique

The cabin is very warm and inviting. The large multi-paned windows offer beautiful outdoor views of the forest and the numerous small (and large) animals that inhabit the area. Our home is not your usual Island Park/ mountain rental, we chose comfort and amenities over the popular 'Lodge Décor' found in most mountain vacation rentals. Each room has been decorated with a loving hand and an eye for color and our guests comfort.

You'll find everything you need for an enjoyable stay, both indoors and out.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Everything was decorated so beautifully, yet very practical. If we needed anything, it was always here and easy to find. I could tell Sheri put a lot of thought and care into providing a pleasant experience for the guests, what a success you are! We had such a peaceful time. Thank you so much!

Wonderful cabin with a very interesting family history.

  • 5 of 5

If you are looking for a clean, neat place to stay just far enough away from Yellowstone to enjoy the park yet not have to deal with the crowds just outside the parks borders, this is THE place. For your non-park days enjoy horse back riding, fishing and swimming at nearby Eagle Ridge Ranch and dinner at Boondocks.

Sheri is a wonderful host. She makes you feel right at home and was very helpful with any questions we had.

Great spot for Yellowtone visit

  • 5 of 5

We stayed at this cabin on the Yellowstone stop of our western trip. We tried to cut down a little on the driving to and from the park since we were going to be doing it for 5 days. This cabin is about 20 minutes from the West Yellowstone entrance to the park.

This cabin has got to be the most well stocked place we have ever rented. Everything you could have possibly thought to bring for your stay is already here! We took Sheri's advice and stopped at a grocery store on the way which saved us some time (and money). We ate in for about half of our stay. We ate locally at Boondocks and Trouthunter, which were both good. Get to Trouthunter at sunset, it's really pretty.

Sheri lives close by so stopped over to say hello, which was thoughtful. She was also readily available if we had any questions.

Would we stay here again? Absolutely. The cabin was perfect for our needs. Very neat and clean and a good location for visiting the park.

Home away from home, with everything we needed! And only 30 minutes from West Yellowstone entrance!

  • 5 of 5

Sheri thought of absolutely everything to make her cabin a comfortable stay for our family. She was available to answer questions and welcome us when we arrived and throughout our stay. The cabin is absolutely spotless. It was a welcome return each night after long and busy days exploring the park. Highly recommend this cabin especially if you are a family as the 3 bedrooms gave our family of 4 plenty of room. Thank you Sheri for your hospitality and sharing your wonderful cabin!

Owner's Response: Thank you for the delightful review, I’m pleased you enjoyed your stay here in Yellowstone a Country! Your family is awesome, I totally enjoyed having you as guests. The picnic dinner was such a wonderful surprise, I still have the bouquet on my table in the RV and am enjoying the chilli you left for me. I hope you have a great year and that you get to see Yosemite next summer.

Clean, cozy and many extra amenities.

  • 4 of 5

The cabin was very nice. Clean and cozy and very well stalked. Everything you could possible need during you stay other than milk and beer was supplied. The place was like a home away from home. We had a bit of trouble finding the cabin but once we did we liked it. I was a bit disappointed in the outside area as I was hoping there was a porch or patio for outdoor relaxing. Still overall a very good value within about 20 minutes of West Yellowstone. Sheri was excellent host and was extremely responsive and available. Thanks

Owner's Response: You’re very welcome, I’m glad you enjoyed your stay with us! I’ve been giving some serious thought as to how I can create an outdoor seating area. Our little microclimate at Macks Inn receives a great deal of snow in the winter (think 13 feet) and makes it difficult to create outdoor spaces that won’t be damaged by all the snow that comes off the roof. I’ll work on it 😎?. I hope you enjoy the rest of your summer! ~Sheri
