This IS the way to see Rome. Period.

If you have never rented an apartment for a visit to a great city, you are in for a treat. We are a couple suddenly of retirement age, and found this ultra-convenient, very lovely spot, I suspect because our three week stay included 1 week in October and two in November. The balconies were charming on balmy nights, and our situation for exploration could not be better. Via del Moro is in the beginning of the Trastavere district just a piazza away from Ponte Sisto, a pedestrian bridge across the Tiber that takes you in one direction straight to the Centro Storico. Behind you is the ultra charming medieval village of Trastevere, where you can find a world class selection of food— a seasonal Saturday Market, where artichokes and truffles were in season, the Prosciuttoria entirely devoted to fabulous roast suckling pick, ham and the best traditional accompaniments, the cheese store of Wallace and Grommet dreams. In the latter do not forget to get some bracceola and some of the amazing Italian eggs with yolks more golden than you have ever seen. After a long day pounding the black cobblestone pavement and drinking in art through a firehose,do you really want to go out to eat? Your fridge is full of the above-mentioned delights, and the take-out pizza two doors down from the famous bakery La Renella, there since the 1870s, beckons with square pizza pieces with toppings like encrusted jewels and a strong selection of dulce. Or there is Pasta Mama, a short block down, with many-made-that minute pastas, divine sauces and salads. You can get it cooked there or boil your own water. On the occasions when you do want to dine out, the amazing Enoteca Ferrara is two doors away on your right, towards the Piazza Trilussa. You will learn something about wine everytime you go. The Michelin starred Glass is almost as close, but EF is so good we could not pass without going in. Now you know that if you rent here, you will not starve. Details: elevator works well, bed is comfortable, utensils could use an update( no spatula for American eggs). Location ridiculously perfect for first time visitors. Rafaella was lovely and helpful and always there. We will be back.

Excellent.

The property appeared to be newly renovated. The view from the patio was amazing just as pictured. The owner responded quickly and was very helpful. Loved our time there and would recommend it to anyone staying in Rome. We were able to walk to so many great sights.

Fantastic apartment!

  • 5 of 5

This apartment is well appointed with a fantastic view. Surprisingly quiet for it's location in the heart of a lively neighborhood. The interior is furnished very nicely with comfortable and quality beds and linens, excellent bathrooms and good air conditioning. Our service at check in was great. Of note, though, is that the elevator service in the building (as I assume with many older buildings) is a little sketchy so there are times when you may have to take the stairs. Lots of restaurants and bars in the area and a reasonable walk to other parts of the city. Wouldn't hesitate to stay in this apartment again. You MUST eat at L'Antico Moro, a restaurant just a stone's throw from the apartment on the same street. The food is fantastically homemade. We ate there twice. Of all the restaurants we ate at (including restaurants which were far more expensive) this was by far the best.

Great apartment in a great neighborhood

  • 5 of 5

we recently enjoyed a month long stay at this apartment. i am happy to say that the apartment is beautiful, it looks just like the photos. it is clean and comfortable. trastevere is the perfect place to base yourself when visiting rome. all of the major sites were within walking distance and trastevere itself has so many restaurants and cafes and is very vibrant. rafaella and june ray (the hosts) were available at any time to assist with any questions and minor details. i would not hesitate to recommend this place - you will enjoy it!

Amazing stay in Rome

  • 5 of 5

We spent 3 weeks in this amazing rooftop terrace apartment in Rome. It had everything we needed to immerse ourselves in the daily life of Trastavere. The terrace is on the shady side of the building during the late afternoon so it was a great place to enjoy a glass of wine (or two) and watch the sun set over the St. Peter's. We didn't realize that we would get a concert every night from the performers at Piazza Trilussa (opera on Sunday nights being my favorite) but if you wanted to sleep, you just had to close the windows. Everything was within walking distance and the taxi stand was only a block away. Anything we needed, Raffaella and June Roy were only an email away. I would highly recommend this for a brief or long stay. Laura S.
