About Pam York

Mr. and Mrs. York are both from Russell County. After completing college and first job assignments they returned home to build their home in 1997. Opening 'Cabin on the Hill' B & B is a dream come true for the couple as the plans have been in the making since the house was built. Mrs. York has a background in Family and Consumer Sciences and has 30 years experience in hospitality management, cooking, baking, entertaining, marketing, gardening and farming. Mr. York has a business degree and enjoys building, hunting and fishing. The couple has one son, Jesse, who is 17.

Pam York purchased this cabin in 1997

Why Pam York chose Russell Springs

Come and enjoy the serenity and beauty of this authentic log home built by the Inn Keepers in 1997. “Cabin on the Hill” features hand hewn square logs, hand carved cedar railings and large porches with much character and authenticity nestled in the woods for a quiet and peaceful stay. Enjoy a home-made breakfast and see the natural beauty of Reynolds Creek, birds, squirrels and other wildlife from the large bay window breakfast area. Delicious strawberries and raspberries are served in season while other KY Proud ingredients such as honey and country eggs are used in preparing breakfast. Breakfast dining also available on the screened in back porch.

What makes this cabin unique

Enjoy swinging and rocking on the front porch or take a stroll down the hill to see the beauty of Reynolds Creek, poultry house and even the strawberry patch. The couple has many tales to tell about their home. The stair railings were custom made from cedar trees from the family farm while the large banister was made with a chainsaw from a cedar tree. The house is beautifully decorated with earth tone colors mixed with modern style and Victorian furniture and décor. Come and see where the popular 'Plate It Up - KY Proud' cooking show is taped and shown on our local cable channel every week.

We had a great time at cabin on a hill! It was immaculately clean, and had everything we needed for the weekend!! We loved the beautiful property, the swing set for our 4 yr old grandson, all the trees, brook, and rocking on the porch w our coffee! The owner was very helpful meeting all our needs in a timely manner, even offering us help when we had car trouble! We appreciated everything!!!

We loved staying at Cabin on the Hill. The cabin was exactly as pictured. It was beautiful, quiet and very relaxing. We enjoyed sitting on the porch with the sounds of the nearby stream. Everything was spotless and wonderfully maintained. We would definitely stay at Cabin on the Hill again.

Russell Springs is a small, rural area with much to see. We are well-known for Lake Cumberland and all it has to offer. In addition, we have U.S. National Fish Hatchery which makes an excellent day trip with educational displays, gift shop and tour of the fish (wonderful for children). Lake Cumberland State Park is another tourist attraction with much to offer. When you see the lake, state park and fish hatchery you may travel on to tour the Amish and Mennonite community and eat home-made ice cream and an array of home-made breads at the bulk food store or check out the old-fashioned dry goods store (Misty Mountain. Stop at the end of your trip and pick up fresh produce at Lavern's. Other points of interest include Haney's Appledale Orchard and gift shop, Maker's Mark Distillery, Shaker Village and Abraham Lincoln's birthplace all within 90 minutes.
