Overview

About the property

2 bedroom cottage with glassed porch, pier and private beach.

Are you tired of staying in a cookie cutter condo and fighting for a space on the beach? If so, look no further than Papa Roy's Paradise! Papa Roy calls his paradise the Peace & Contentment Lodge or the P&C Lodge. His mantra is 'Do nothing and rest afterwards.' Located on Spring Branch just off of Perdido Bay, Papa Roy's Paradise is a little slice of heaven. You can drink coffee in the glassed porch and watch for dolphins or relax with a cocktail on the beach and view the sunset. Inside, there are two bedrooms, a large living area, a fully equipped kitchen, and a spacious glassed/screened porch. For your outdoor pleasure, there are kayaks, surf boards, paddle boards and even a slide on the dock. On the white sandy beach, there is a gazebo with a sitting area and a grill. Bring your boat and fishing gear! A dock with an underwater fish light will provide hours of enjoyment and entertainment. With a little luck, you can catch fish and crabs. In ten minutes, by boat or car, you can be at Pirate's Cove enjoying one of their cheeseburgers in paradise and drinking a world famous bushwhacker. Also, there are many other restaurants located in the area that specialize in local seafood. The sugar sand beaches of Gulf Shores and Pensacola are a short drive away. Fresh fruit and vegetable stands abound in the area and Sweet Home Farm Cheese is close by in Elberta. The butchers at the Elberta Grocery will cut your filet, t-bone or porterhouse to order and wrap it in wax paper. They also make and sell the finest sausage in Baldwin County. In season, for an additional charge, Papa Roy will take you out on his shrimp boat, The Perdido Queen, to catch shrimp for your dinner or to observe dolphins in their natural habitat. The P&C Lodge is paradise found!

Leave the Hustle and Bustle behind

Great place if you are looking to get away from the crowds and have your own private beach. Very quite and peaceful setting. Kayak's, paddle boards and a boat dock are just a added benefit of the property. Dolphin sightings are very frequent.

The real (quiet and private) thing for the two of us.

  • 5 of 5

We got everything we wanted: Quiet and private accommodation with lake view, kayaking in the bayou, trees, ospreys, pelicans, dolphins, birds, trees, no noise, no music, no people, no traffic, no meeting, no barbecue smoke. The real thing for the two of us. Roy lives in the roadside house. We lived in the waterside house. Air conditioning was quiet and effective. We would like to return.

Quiet Country Fun

  • 5 of 5

My wife and I stayed with Papa Roy late October for two nights and it was much better than expected. Papa Roy did everything needed to insure our stay was a great one. We barbequed both nights, used the kayak both days, and just enjoyed the solitude. Our talks with Papa Roy alone were worth the trip. The Elberta Market has great meats and sundries, but if you have to have something special bring it with you.(ie. alcoholic beverages)! It was so quiet at night. Awesome! Loved this place. Will be back.

Perfect place to get away from the crowd.

  • 5 of 5

This secluded spot was just what we were looking for, had plenty of amenities for comfort with out any of the crowded condo mentality that exists at Gold Beach. Papa Roy showed us true southern hospitality while we were there, but he knows when to stay out of the way as well. Property was clean and well maintained and the house had everything needed for folks that like to stay in and enjoy the peace and quiet. The kitchen is completely stocked with basic supplies, all you need to do is stop by the market for food supplies as you drive in and you'll be set. We enjoyed paddleboarding, kayaking, swimming, crabbing. It's a long way from our home in San Diego but well worth the trip!

We have stayed at many places over the years, but this one is definately unique!

  • 5 of 5

The property provided all of the necessities one would need, and then some. Literally all you need to take are food, and life jackets. The kitchen is well equipped. There is even a deep freeze we used to store our fish from off shore fishing. It was a much needed vacation that provided relaxation on the beach and the excitement of fishing and catching crabs. We also did kayaking and saw the dolphins every day. We didn't even turn the tv on! Beware the crabs do pinch hard lol. The best way to get them out of the trap is to shake them into a cooler of ice. Do not try to grab them. My husband learned the hard way hahaha. We caught about a dozen and they were good eating paired with cold margaritas! Good times and good people! We had a great time Papa Roy! Can't wait to come back!

Like Home Away From Home

  • 5 of 5

Thanks to Papa Roy for providing a great retreat that is peaceful, quiet, in a setting that feels safe and somewhat remote from the hustle and bustle. We enjoyed the frequent opportunities to see nature up close with ospreys nesting in the back yard and bald eagles across the cove, dolphins passing by in the morning and evenings. The sunsets were picture worthy every day and nightskies full of stars. The beach front with tiki hut was relaxing. The kayaks and paddle boats were plentiful and a favorite with the kids and adults. The property is beautifully landscaped and maintained. We enjoyed meeting the great neighbors and thank you Papa Roy for your southern hospitality.
