The villa (entirely in stone) is situated 500 meters on the level of the sea near the summit of the hill of the middle ages Castle (A.D.921) of Campello Alto. The villa is situated on the ancient francigena way that brought since the middle ages the pilgrims from Canterbury (England) to the city of Rome and also crossed by St. Francis of Assisi.
The villa offers the possibility to reside in an uncontaminated place and to enjoy of the beautiful umbrian landscape , of its peace and silence, absorbed among olive trees that give one of the more appreciated oils of the region. In the garden numerous flowers, fig trees, grapevines and other trees are found . There are ample spaces with lawn and terraces with great views. The swimming pool is situated in an extremely panoramic position from which it is possible to admire the whole umbrian valley from Spoleto up to Montefalco and Assisi.

Umbrian retreat

we all loved the property. It was just what we wanted an authentic Italian farmhouse to relax and refresh in. The pool was well maintained by a local who checked in everyday to see that things were Ok. We had everything we needed and would recommend this property if you want to enjoy a slice of real Italy away from crowds and the usual Tourist spots.Fantastic views and a stunning location.

Hope to be back

The house is a charming old house with all the aminities one needs. Every day the pool is cleaned by Gabrielle, a very nice old man. The house is beautifully located in the hills above de valey of Spoleto and in fact on the pilgrims road between Spoleto and Assisi. We made some beautiful walks. The garden is shaded en well suited for dogs. Ours loved it. We certainly hope to return.

It's not easy to do justice to this unusual holiday home. The location is fantastic, with breathtaking views of the Valle Umbra all the way to Spoleto. Unfortunately, this location also means the house is difficult to reach. You can only park at the top of the mountain. The beautiful old farmhouse has been lovingly restored at some point. There's plenty of space, but unfortunately the house is full of things and has only little space for personal belongings. The quaint but impractically furnished kitchen contains two refrigerators, neither of which works reliably. The kitchen equipment leaves to be desired. Of the two indoor showers, only one is usable, but it's very small. The pool water was green when we arrived (heavy rain before) the water quality only improved after a few days. Apparently, there isn't an adequate filtration system. There is Wi-Fi in the house, but the internet is very weak. The lighting in the house is a bit poor with a lot of makeshift lights. The property's unusual location, along with its many advantages, also brings with it disadvantages for which the landlord is not responsible. But to justify the high price, the house needs modernization. Above all, the technical equipment needs to be improved. We encountered some kind of problem almost every day, which the extremely friendly and helpful caretaker, Gabriele, always took care of quickly. All in all, we had a good time in Campello Alto, but we were annoyed too often by avoidable problems.

Merveilleux !

Un ete caniculaire mais la maison ancienne gardait sa fraicheur. Une vue imprenable, nombreux coins exterieurs sous les oliviers, piscine superbe. Une maison pleine d ame et de vie ,avec l equipement necessaire . Calme sans vis a vis . Un accueil chaleureux et Gabriele present si besoin ,discret et gentil. De bons conseils pour les productions locales... Excellent sejour!! Nous avons beaucoup aimé

Eine einzige Katastrophe !!!

Unglaublich schlechter Zustand des Hauses. Kaputte Stühle, Kühlschränke, Möbel. Besteck, Töpfe und Gläser aus der Steinzeit und Dreckig. Betten und Schränke wahrscheinlich vom Speermüll gesammelt und das Haus damit ausgestattet. Duschen nicht nur defekt sondern extrem eng (35 cm Platz zum duschen). Einziges positives Erscheinen der Verwalter Vorort der sagenhaft gewesen ist.

très belle situation

Vue imprenable. Piscine très agréable. Idéal pour des vacances en famille et au repos. L'ancienne maison de famille, pourrait être vidée d'une ribambelle d'objet inutile, rafraichi en aménagement interieur, qui ne doit pas couté si cher, car beaucoup de charme présent. Beaucoup d'ancienne vaisselle, mais peu pratique et que 2 verres à vins pour six adultes en vacances.... Heureusement le charme prends le dessus.

Beautiful property with stunning views

We stayed here in September 2019 for our 1 year anniversary. It exceeded our expectations. The photos online do not do it justice. It is a lovingly renovated spacious stone cottage full of character and interest set into the side of a hill with breathtaking views of the valley and mountains surrounding it. The pool is bigger than the photos suggest and the surrouding terrace was the perfect place to unwind, relax and take in the magnificent scenery. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here and would definitely come back. We had one of the best meals of our trip to Italy in a restaurant about two kilometres on the way down from the property called Le Casaline, wonderful cuisine and impeccable service.. Also, chanced upon a wine shop/bar serving food in the village called Vincanta Enobottega where we had a delicious platter of antipasti, breads and cheeses. A tip - a few words of italian will be helpful to you as the lovely gentleman who checked us into the property did not have any english.

Vacances en famille d'exception ! !!

Nous sommes partir avec 5 enfants de 3,4,6,7 et 11 ans et un petit chien. La maison et son jardin avec piscine fut un terrain de jeu ideal pour eux!! Il y a plein de coins ou petits et grands peuvent s'isoler. Nous avons été agréablement bien reçu par Gabriel qui est un homme très charmant et discret. Nous avons tous eu un coup de coeur pour cette maison familiale ou chacun s'y est sentit le bienvenu. Le temps nous a permit de vivre pleinement notre séjour avec piscine le matin et feu de cheminée en fin d'après midi. Pour finir nous avons adoré le petit restaurant à campello alto derrière les fortifications et l'accueil de ses habitants. Bref, un séjour parfait, une maison encore bien plus belle et spacieuse que ce que montre les photos du site et un contact avec les propriétaires tout à fait charmant ! Je recommande vivement cette maison à tous ce qui aime l'esprit de famille dans de l'authentique sans chichi à l'italienne 😍👍👍👍

un environement exceptionnel

La maison est pleine de charme avec des objets anciens et une décoration recherchée qui laisse subsister les éléments d'origine (mangeoire , etc...). Elle est confortable avec toutefois un bémol pour les matelas et surtout pour la douche qui est belle mais exiguë. Le charme exceptionnel de cette maison réside par dessus tout dans l'environnement extérieur. Elle est située au pied du mur d'enceinte moyen-âgeux du village dans un jardin de terrasses plantées d'oliviers et d'autres essences. La vue est magnifique et il y a quantité de petits coins extérieurs très agréables, aménagés pour prendre des repas ou bouquiner avec tables, fauteuils, parasols. Enfin sa situation géographique en font un lieu privilégié pour des visites touristiques intéressantes.

Belle situation, prestations à revoir

La location est conforme aux photos du site. Les extérieurs sont très beaux et le panorama est magnifique. Par contre les prestations intérieures ne sont pas à l'hauteur du prix demandé : une minuscule et très rustique douche avec un rideau sale et détérioré, pas de wifi, pas de lave linge, vaisselle insuffisante et en mauvais état, pas de quoi ranger ses affaires. Par ailleurs, il y a beaucoup de moustiques et les interventions de l'homme chargé de l'entretien sont quotidiens, inopinés et indiscrets.
