About the property

The Alpine River Hideaway Cabin Rests On 4 Private Acres On The Chiwawa River

This warmly decorated home is ideal for family vacations or a couple’s getaway. The cabin looks out on its own huge private river front and accompanying meadow (think: capture the flag, walking meditations, Andy Goldsworthy sculpture building sessions). Indoor kitchen island seats six and doubles as dining table. We offer super fast fiber optic WiFi for those that need to stay connected; this also allows you to partake in Netflix (free) or to connect paid movies, etc. on our Smart Tvs. The covered deck on the second floor has a dining table for eight and gas BBQ. A 6 person Hot Tub is nestled on the patio below with another table seating up to 6 people. A path meanders from the patio through the field to the Chiwawa River where you can swim or just watch the river rush by. Also by the river is a stone fire ring and seating, bring wood and smore's makings!

The beautiful Bavarian village of Leavenworth is 25 minutes away with its many seasonal festivals.

Mountain Springs Lodge is 5 minutes away with snowmobile rentals, a restaurant and sleigh rides. You can schedule a snowmobile tour and a dinner all on the same night. In summer months you can schedule horseback rides at Mountain Springs or hike some of the many nearby trails. In the tiny town of Plain, you will find Just Plain Grocery and Plain Hardware, a store with a surprising selection of garden, home, and personal accessories for your shopping pleasure~ espresso too!

Some of the many activities available nearby include Lake Wenatchee state park 10 minutes away, for the anglers Fish Lake is 15 minutes away. Also nearby is Thousand Trails, as well as many guided river rafting tours. See our area information page on our website for links to area activities.

From Stevens Pass to Wenatchee you will find your favorite activities. Our location in the middle offers access to everything, whether you're golfing, fishing or rafting on the Wenatchee River, hiking in the Alpine Wilderness Area of the Cascades, rock climbing near Leavenworth, or enjoying a scenic wine tour, you are sure to create wonderful memories. There is something for the entire family to enjoy any time of year.

Perfect summer stay with family!

  • 5 of 5

This home is really nice. The outside eating area was so nice in the evening to have dinner and cool down after a 90 degree day. There was plenty of room for my family. The kids stayed downstairs and watched movies while the adults were upstairs watching a movie and socializing at night. My parents are already planning a trip here with my Uncle and his wife. We played badminton and cornhole and spent the day playing in the river. It was the perfect vacation home.

Beautiful home and property, but some concerns with maintenance.

  • 3 of 5

Entering the residence was disappointing, as it was 99 degrees outside and 91 stifiling degrees inside. I did not think to check whether or not the house had air conditioning (which it does not). It took well into the middle of the first night to cool the upstairs down to a tolerable 75 degrees - it would have been nice if the fans would have been turned on prior to our arrival to help circulate the air. The kitchen faucet was broken and very difficult to turn off (it felt as though the entire handle was going to come off each time you used it). I texted the owner and received a prompt reply - the plumber thought he could repair the faucet without replacing; unfortunately this was not the case. The hot tub, outside seating areas and river access were all marvelous and made up for our initial frustrations. One should also note that the main living area is on the second floor - this proved to be very difficult for my elderly mother.

Owner's Response: I'm glad that you were able to find some solace in the 'marvelous river access and hot tub'. We recognize that a set of stairs can be difficult for elderly people - I'm sorry that you didn't notice this before booking and how this might be an impediment for your mother. Thank you for acknowledging that we tried to work through the concerns that seemed to crop up for you - we haven't had any issues or concerns from any other guests.

Beautiful cozy home with a great view.

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful vacation in this very nice and clean well stocked home. Plenty of blankets, pillows, games and everything I needed in the kitchen to make our meals. Being that this was my first time vacationing in someone's home, I had brought a lot of my own supplies for preparing dinner. Sharp knife, potato peeler, pan and much more. Guess what? I didn't need any of it!! The kitchen was ready to cook!! Lot's of pan's, good knives, bowls, measuring cup and so much more.

We went to Lake Wanatchee for a day, enjoyed the hot tub and stared up at so many stars and satellites that my neck started to hurt. We must have stayed up till 2 a.m. doing that, we loved it.

The only down side for us, was that fishing on this area of the river was closed for the whole year. After researching the fishing rule book and such of the area's river's, my husband and son where able to drive a bit further east (I think it was that way) for the day to do some fly fishing.

So all in all we had a good time and learned the hard way to research location and availability to try and catch some fish.

Salmon fishing on the Wenatchee River! View on map

The Wenatchee River has long been regarded as one of the best fly fishing steelhead streams in Washington State, but it has been closed for more than a decade. It is open from Leavenworth down to the confluence of the Columbia River in Wenatchee. We like to refer to this trip as 'steelhead fishing in the Alps' due to the amazing mountainous backdrops and the Bavarian feel of the Leavenworth area. The only thing better than steelhead fishing, is steelhead fishing followed by some great German food and a stout ale in Leavenworth. If you want an outfitter to guide you, we have that option available also.|93
