The Swamp Rabbit Cottage is a one bedroom mill house just a mile out of downtown Greenville. Perfect location for hopping on the Swamp Rabbit Trail, an 18 mile paved bike trail and gateway to some of Greenville's finest cycling. Just a mile up the trail in one direction is downtown Greenville, and in the other direction, the trendy Swamp Rabbit Cafe and Grocery with locally grown produce and goods. Keep heading north on the trail and you will pass Furman University and on to the quaint town of Travelers Rest with restaurants, shops and a micro brewery.
This is a great location for cyclists, budget conscious travelers, relocating, CoWork, and we are a good option for a short term furnished apartment. Swamp Rabbit Crossfit is just steps away too! #bikeinnbikeout

Wendy Lynam purchased this house in 2014
I love mill houses and this is where the urban sprawl is headed plus it is just steps from The Swamp Rabbit Trail. The City of Greenville has a master plan for a central park near this property, much like our award winning Falls Park, planned to start in the next five years. This is one area to watch and has easy access to the City a mile away.
Close to bike trail. Furnished entirely in IKEA. Newly remodeled inside and out. CPI security system. Please let us know if you would like to rent a bike during your stay by emailing us at swamprabbitinn@ #bikeinnbikeout
The cottage was clean and tidy. I stayed for 2 nights and the train kept passing by and was loud. It was hard to sleep at night and I would not go out to walk at night, either. The neighborhood is run down and it would fare better to be in a safer neighborhood.
My husband and I stayed here for 4 nights. It is a cute older house that has been renovated with a modern European flair ( think IKEA). The kitchen is well stocked and everything clean and thoughtfully set up. It would be an ideal rental in a different location. The problem is the neighborhood and the railroad. The house is right across the street from the railway and trains run all day and night. It is loud. The neighborhood is a little scary and we would not feel safe going out at night for a walk etc. I would not rent again for this reason. Also, the house next door has a loud and annoying dog that barked when we went out to sit on the back porch...which overlooks an open green area. I had no other complaints. I read another review that brought up these concerns and they were right on. Greenville is an awesome town and we will be returning as our son just relocated here...but this is not the home away from home we were looking for.
The woman im sorry i forgot your name lol was super friendly i felt like my businness was wanted and appreciated thank you
Cute, charming cottage nicely renovated
Kitchen well stocked and nice setup
Back porch with a view of the field
Close to Swamp Rabbit trail
Comfy bed and pillows
In a bad area
Barking dogs throughout the night from neighbors next door and across the street
Railroad noise during night
Drunks knocking on our door in middle of the night
We stayed at a few VBROs and we must say this 1 was the worst! We pulled up to cottage. The cottage itself was charming inside and out BUT the neighborhood there, run down! You could see how the cottage probably looked before they renovated by looking at the surrounding homes and it wasn’t pretty! We brought our bikes and kept them inside the cottage when not riding for fear they would be stolen.
Though the house looks like it has new windows, the walls of the cottage weren’t really insulated. During the night, the neighbors had left their dogs outside and they were barking on and off through the night. We kept going to the window to make sure no one was messing with our vehicle. On top of that there was noise from the rail road very close to there. Our 1st night there, as if we weren’t nervous enough, at a little after 4:00 in the morning, I hear footsteps on our front porch. I woke up my husband. I am freaking out! Then there’s a knock on our door. It was some drunk! We were not about to let this person in. We had no idea what he was up to. The drunk left after a bit and proceeded to wander up and down the street a bit getting the dogs barking again. I barely got 3 hours sleep a night there and that was wearing earplugs!
We could not really enjoy hiking/biking because we were so tired and worried about our stuff being safe at cottage. Fortunately, there is an alarm system.
Now, the owner does have the Swamp Rabbit Inn. We did go to that location to check it out. That looks like it is in a fine location. Close to the heart of downtown and in a better neighborhood. If we had known what the neighborhood was like at this cottage, we would never have booked it.
The property was exactly as pictured.
Spotless, modern and tastefully decorated. Kitchen is fully stocked with everything you need although we enjoyed eating at The Whistle Stop, The Hardware Store located off the Swamp Rabbit trail and Nose Dive located downtown which were all great places. We took Uber to downtown and it cost $6.00 for the three one way. It was great to hop on the bike trail from home. The neighborhood was questionable but after a couple days I felt comfortable. There is a security system which was a plus. The beds and furniture were comfortable. The backyard overlooked an open, manicured field and surprisingly there were hardly any bugs unlike the area I live in SC. I also would recommend hiking Paris Mountain. Paris Mt. is 15 minutes away from the property and offers various levels of hiking. I enjoyed Wendy's biking book of trails. Ride On!
Even though we couldn't stay in the Swamp Rabbit house ww had rented, Wendy made last minute accommodations and relocated us to another one of her properties that was really amazing. There was everything we needed. All was clean, and the surroundings were beautiful. We had a wonderful time in Greenville. All of her houses are next to the Swamp Rabbit Trail, close to Greenville downtown, Paris State Park, and the quaint little town of Travelers Rest. Greenville is so nice, that I'm looking for a retirement home in the area to buy next year.
Once again thank you Wendy, we will come back again.
