My sister and I stayed at the house in Saint Meard du Gurcon with our families for a week in August and loved it!
The house is a big, beautiful 'very French' property which is clearly very well loved, well maintained and has been in the family for years, adorned with many items of antique family furniture, pictures and decoration.
In the time spent at the house there was plenty of room for the eight of us to move around and have our own space when we wanted it - there were so many different areas to sit outside and relax in the sun!
We all had a wonderful stay and Brigitte was the perfect host - a welcome basket of local goods were provided on arrival and she had a genuine interest in our wellbeing and ensuring that we enjoyed the perfect stay - she 'checked-in' with us on a couple of occasions to ensure that everything was OK, never intrusive, but always very friendly and helpful.
The house was comprehensively equipped with everything we could have needed and the pool was perfect for the children to play in for hours. The village was small, but had a bakery, restaurant and small grocery store. We were also provided with plenty of information on what was available nearby and had plenty to do whilst we were there - I would thoroughly recommend the Bucket's Auberge Inn restaurant a few minutes up the road in Montazeau for excellent food at a good price; Canoeing at Kayak Port Ste Foy for a variety of options to canoe along the Dordogne; and finally the Chateau de Bridoire for an excellent place to visit with children with plenty of mediaeval games to participate in and a really interactive experience in a wonderful castle and its grounds...
I would thoroughly recommend this property to anyone who wants and authentic French Property to stay in, it is very beautiful, well equipped and with plenty to do and see nearby - thank you Brigitte, we had a fabulous time!
