About Pamela Smith

By day I am an accountant, but my passion is interior design and making my log cabins a wonderful experience for my guests....you will love Alpine Haven, 2014 new remodel makes it as charming and comfortable as my first log cabin....Acorn Cottage, enjoy!

Pamela Smith purchased this cabin in 2005

Why Pamela Smith chose Pagosa Springs

I found it just one street above Acorn Cottage and the previous owner was Elizabeth Taylor's son, it has a charming history and wonderful location in the trees.

What makes this cabin unique

The beauty of the forest, your own private hot tub and amazing starry nights, the forest sounds and abundant wildlife, spectacular skiing at nearby Wolf Creek ski area, soaking in the delightful hot springs all over the area.

Guestbook comments from the owner

We all had a wonderful time here. The cabin was a beautiful cabin and the hot tub was very relaxing. Good housekeeper and the maintenance man was great helping get rid of some bees. Pam was wonderful and very hospitable. We look forward to coming back in the future.

Beautifullly decorated home offering comfort , veiws , and the making of precious memories !!

  • 5 of 5

Alpine Haven is a unique experience ! I was hesitant to stay in a log cabin but this was the compromise my husband and I made . Yet ,I loved it ! The owner has such a knack for decorating and used the best linens , fabrics , etc to make our experience just that - an experience !

The upper bathroom is small so I used the dresser in the upper master for my vanity . Otherwise , we were super comfy and didn't want a thing !

The neighborhood offers a small lake , great roads to walk in the cool of the morning or evening in between all the adventures we were having . I could live on the porch , and thoroughly enjoyed the hot tub , as well ! I appreciate the details and the owner does too. Grateful for her attention to each detail ! Lovely !!

Lovely

  • 4 of 5

Adorable cabin, well furnished with a cozy feel. The porch has a lovely view. The hot tub was a great addition. The kitchen had everything we needed. The cabin is older and the floors creak, which I found charming. Being in our late 60's the beds were not comfortable, squeaked when we sat on them, headboard banged against the wall. Would we return? YES!

Owner's Response: Thanks so much for staying with us and the feedback. We do have a new mattress on order for the beds that have not recently been replaced (two twins and full are new) and and I will also see about attaching that headboard to the wall. Happy Travels and we look forward to your return!

It was more than enough room. It was clean, quiet and everything I wanted and more !! When I go back to Pagosa Springs, I hope this cabin is available, The manager was great, I never seen her, she gave us complete privacy. Thank you! I would surely recommend this. Cabin to my friends and family!

Nice cabin retreat

  • 3 of 5

Overall we enjoyed our stay at Alpine Haven. My family of four and my older son's family of four stayed for a three day weekend. The kitchen and dining areas were adequate. Nice quiet neighborhood just outside of Pagosa Springs.

My only concern once we arrived was the steep stairs. I was a bit afraid of my 2 y/o granddaughter falling, but everyone did ok. Beds for me were too soft, but that's a personal problem.

The walkway leading up to the house was muddy as the snow had really begun to melt. Normally this time of year it probably is snow covered.

Owner's Response: Thanks so much for staying with us and for your feedback. We have had record setting heat this winter when normally everything is frozen, causing an unexpected thaw. We will definitely add extra gravel to the path this Spring in case it happens again. Regarding the soft beds, I assume that you are referring to the king beds, to which we added temperature-control temperpedic foam toppers because they are otherwise very firm. Most guests find them supportive and comfortable, sorry your experience was not optimal. Regarding the stairs, we have in place traction tape and double handrails and are glad your 2 year old had no problems. Thanks so much for the input on the pathways and beds and we hope you stay with us again!

Cozy Cabin

  • 5 of 5

Pam is a great, responsive host, and the cabin is very adorable. They have lots of games and movies which kept us entertained when we weren't skiing. It's on the way up to the ski mountain so it's really convenient for going to Wolf Creek. Overall great experience.
