About Kelly

Owner is American, lived in St Maarten for 17 years and spared no expense investing in this property and maintaining as it was a primary home. Moved back to the U.S. for medical/family reasons.

Why Kelly chose Maho

With extensive experience in multiple property ownership and developments on the island, we chose this home immediately (before the property was even finished) based on it's outstanding location, structure and luxurious amenities. The house is on the 2nd row overlooking the first row of houses and has a magnificent view, protection from big waves and blowing sand. All the benefits of a beachfront property without the risk and hassle. Security in this community is outstanding with 24-hour guards, electronic surveillance with additional guards & dogs from dusk to dawn. The island is a safe place, and this community just freed our mind from any worry at all. The sunsets are incredible, especially sipping drinks in the rooftop pool. What can we say, it's just a fabulous home and we're glad to share it with you now that life has taken us back to the States. We lived in this home for 5 years and made sure is was fully up-to-date and well maintained as it was indeed our home, not conceived as a rental property.

What makes this villa unique

Because this was our home, we loaded it up with extra steps like dual (backup) hot water heaters as well as a solar heater on the roof for eco-friendliness. There is triple filtered drinking water from the tap. Island water is fine, but with a compromised immune system in our family we went above and beyond. Stairs are carpeted for comfort. Enjoy!

We had an amazing stay at Buttermoon August 17th-23rd! From the moment we arrived, we felt as if we had stepped into a dream. Kelly met us at the house to show us around and get us settled. This home is absolutely perfect with gorgeous views. The house was spotless and well appointed. There is a convenient internet phone for free calls to and from the States. A local cellphone was also provided which made it handy to plan excursions while on the go. The decor is very tasteful and modern. Beds and linens were very luxurious. You will definitely not feel as if you are staying in a rental. The gourmet kitchen has everything you need including a huge walk-in pantry with spices. The master bedroom is on the 4th floor with amazing views. There are 3 other king bedrooms, all are very large and beautifully decorated, each with it’s own large luxury bathroom. We especially liked the sunglasses exhibit in the 2nd floor bedroom. There are so many nice touches throughout the house that really make it an amazing experience. The house is 4 and a half floors with the pool on the uppermost level. There is even an elevator which made bringing your suitcases up four flights a breeze. Beach chairs and towels were ready to go in the garage and some kids snorkel gear was also available. The beach is secluded and nicely nestled between two cliffs. A local snuba outfit ( met us one morning on our beach and took us out diving in our own backyard. It was amazing, we literally walked out the garage, onto the beach, had a 15 minute instruction then were off diving!

There is a great marina across the street with outdoor restaurants and a small gourmet grocery store. Our favorite spot there was Earnest & Fidel’s, best mojito on the island! The owner grows his own sugar canes at his house and soaks them in rum for 24 hours. There is a also a brand new shopping mall across the street with lots of activities for the kids including a haunted house! We rented a car which is a must to explore all that the island has to offer. A short 7 minute drive towards Marigot brings you to 'Le Sand’, a perfect spot for a gourmet lunch right on the beach where they also provide you with a beach chair & umbrella. Other favorite spots were Coco's on the Beach at Orient Bay and Pinel island which is a short ferry ride to a secluded island with 2 beachfront restaurants.

Buttermoon gets our highest recommendation. We can’t wait to go back!

Beautiful property in convenient location

We had a great vacation, the villa was very clean, well maintained, with a gorgeous view, the location of the villa is in the best area close to all nice beaches. Kelly the property manager was extremely helpful, friendly and I believe she is the one behind this well organized villa, we promised her return back soon.

Our group of friends made plans to spend a week in January on St Maarten last August. We searched VRBO and found Buttermoon Villa. I contacted Kelly the property manager with a few questions and even with a four hour time difference she promptly responded.

We put a deposit on the villa and bought airline tickets. Then, Irma comes along. We talked with our friends and we all agreed that the best thing we could do to help the island was to go and spend as much as we could afford there. Our attitude was if we have a place to stay and an airplane to take us we were going.

One of our flights changed but was still doable. The villa sustained some damage but Kelly assured me that it would be repaired by January. We were given the option of a refund but considered it only as a last resort if the villa couldn’t be repaired in time.

Kelly was waiting for us when we arrived and spent time showing us around and answering questions. The home was beautiful and perfectly appointed. Everything was in perfect condition.

The four floors gave our group plenty of space and privacy. The top level pool has a fabulous view. All the bedrooms are large with en suites and outdoor access. There is also a powder room on the pool level and living area.

My husband loves to cook and the gourmet kitchen was well stocked. Kelly also made sure we had a welcome package of coffee, wine, milk, bread, eggs of our choice.

The villa’s location in Cupecoy was perfect. Close to the airport, shopping and restaurants but also quiet. Two of the men were golfers and enjoyed being so close to the course. Puerto Cupecoy is across the road from the villas and has restaurants and shops. There is a Carrefour Market which is small but carries the essentials. There is also a Carrefour on Bush Rd that is huge and very well stocked.

During our stay we drove all over the island, ate, shopped and explored. Yes there is damage but the people are working as hard as possible to rebuild. In our week there we saw visible improvements made. Anyone contemplating going- GO. The people are so appreciative of you being there and supporting their island. Most feel tourism will recover by next season. I would advise to go now and enjoy the island without the crowds.

The home was ideal for us. We would stay there again without hesitation. Kelly was fantastic to deal with.

Our Favorte Home Away From Home

This was our second stay at Buttermoon in the last three months. Upon our arrival we were greeted by the villa manager Kelly, who even though we knew the property was there to answer any questions we might have. The villa was immaculate with everything necessary to make our vacation stay easy and comfortable. The kitchen was stocked with items like coffee, milk, bread, eggs and juice so we did not have to run to the store right away. Kudos to Kelly who took the time to ask in advance what our preferences were.

Buttermoon is a lovely property in a gated community. A fifteen minute ride from the airport and the activities of Simpson Bay. It is located right across the street from Porto Cupecoy which has great dining options and a supermarket. The villa it's self is well appointed and comfortable with spacious rooms and a large well equipped kitchen . The roof top pool is beautiful and offers amazing views of the ocean and evening sunset. A great place to sit out and enjoy a cocktail at the end of the day.

I would highly recommend a stay at Buttermoon! We can;t wait to come back.

Kelly is the best-professional, courteous and fair

My family and I were reluctant to visit Saint Martin in Feb 2018 after Hurricane Irma. I contacted Kelly and she refunded me promptly. She was courteous, fair and efficient. I look forward to booking Butter Moon villa in Feb 2019 and hope for the island's quick recovery. We are so disappointed to not be able to go this year! Thank you Kelly for all of your help.

Kelly is the best, very professional, courteous

My family had a reservation for Buttermoon Villa in Feb 2018. Because of the hurricane, we were reluctant to visit St Martin. I emailed Kelly and she was very understanding, fair, professional and courteous. She gave us a full refund without any issues and it was done efficiently and promptly. I will certainly book with Kelly again. I am so disappointed that we will not be staying at her villa but am looking forward to the island rebounding and us being able to visit in 2019.

It appears to be a beautiful property!

My sons wedding was scheduled for October and we booked the villa to use as our "home base". Unfortunately, Hurricane Irma roared in, devastating the island and cancelling the wedding. Although it is our understanding that there was minimal damage to the villa, and also the non refundable cancellation policy, I must report that we were refunded, in full, for the entire stay. Thank you, Kelly, for showing integrity and honesty! The excellent reviews are the reason we booked this villa, vs others, and Kelly most certainly did not disappoint! We are saddened by the conditions everyone is experiencing in St. Maarten, and hope the island has a quick recovery. Hopefully, we will be able to arrange a stay in the not to distant futur
