About the property

Imagine Camping In Luxury In 400 Sf One Bedroom Cabin with 500 sf kitchen/bath

Imagine camping in luxury in your own 400 sf one bedroom cabin with thousands of acres of national forest wilderness out your front door. Deer, elk, bears and many other birds and beasts may wander by at any time. This precious cabin offers you a comfortable high mountain experience protected from the wind, rain, cold, and insects. Located on acres of trees and flowering meadows and surrounded by the targhee national forest, the spacious deck offers you the perfect venue to take in all the sights and sounds of the Yellowstone high country. Take a walk down the driveway to view the Tetons, Henrys lake, snake river, centennial mountains, meadow creak wildlife reserve and the Yellowstone plateau. Witness incomparable sunrises and sunsets.

Surreal, serene, quiet, peaceful, exciting, magical, etherial, and transcendental are some adjectives used by our guests to describe our high mountain adventure ambiance.

Each day one is able to choose any of the numerous nearby outdoor activities or picnic in Yellowstone National Park which is only minutes away. In less than two hours you are able to visit Grand Targhee ski resort, Jackson Hole, Grand Teton National Park, St. Anthony's sand dunes, Virginia City, or Big Sky.

Of particular interest are the hundreds of miles of bike and snow mobile trails that begin at your back door and the world class fishing found on henry's lake and the snake river.

Please note, you will have to walk down stairs to access the bathroom as our cabin is built into the front side of the property's 1300 sf garage; our vrbo property 239561 shares the same 3 acre lot but is not seen from our high mountain adventure cabin. We do not recommend our high mountain adventure for for older folks who don't like stairs, mountains, or adventure.

Beautiful, peaceful cabin on top of the mountain!

  • 5 of 5

We really enjoyed our stay at the mountain retreat. They had everything there we needed for our stay. I would recommend getting any food or anything else you need in town before making the drive up the mountain. It was a little scary the 1st time we drive up the mountain but the view at the top was worth it! I also wouldn't recommend driving up at night. We got a little confused with the roads driving up one night.

Overall this was a great mountain retreat like it is stated. We would recommend this place or stay ourselves if we come back out that way.

The views are awe inspiring. It is very quiet and secluded.

Pam was a most gracious host. Apparently I had not done my research very well and when we arrived I was surprised to find the bathroom down a flight of stairs which Cliff would not have been able to negotiate. I was also initially terrified by the drive up to the property. In the middle of my meltdown Pam calmly assured me that she would accommodate us elsewhere. Which she did-beautifully!

Thankfully we had an all wheel drive vehicle. A standard car would not have been able to make the climb. Once off the mountain it is an easy 15 miles to the West entrance to Yellowstone.

Wow! Unique Cabin! Very Special Place!

  • 5 of 5

Wow! We had such an amazing stay! Would absolutely recommend this place to anyone.

The cabin was perfect for us. We spent each day hiking in Yellowstone...it was so nice to be able to come back to the cabin. It was only about a 15/20-minute drive to the park entrance...so much better than staying in a hotel!

As the listing indicates, I'd recommend 4WD. With that in mind, we loved the drive up the mountain to get to the cabin! It really added to the overall experience. And while we stayed, we were visited by a moose and her baby! It was a really neat experience.

As the photos show, and as the listing describes, the layout of the cabin is perhaps a little unconventional. You have to walk down the stairs to use the bathroom. Not a big deal though.

The only thing that I think that could have been represented a little better is that there is another cabin quite close to this cabin. However, it can only be seen from the edge of the deck. There are not many unobstructed views...the other cabin is in line of sight of the best view from the deck. We were thinking it might be a little more isolated. Again, not a big deal...just something to be mindful of.

In sum, awesome place to stay! Would recommend to anyone!

Wonderful Stay!

  • 5 of 5

The cabin was the perfect spot for us after our days at YNP. The drive from the cabin is about 30 minutes to the west entrance. The road up and down from the cabin was manageable in the Santa Fe Sport rental we had.

We appreciated the kitchen space to prepare meals in the mornings and evenings. We grilled out on the deck and enjoyed watching the family of woodpeckers in the nearby tree. In the evenings we enjoyed walking down (and up) the mountain road to watch the sunset. We have wonderful photos from each night.

Pam and John were wonderful hosts. They were very easy to communicate with and answered all our questions. We especially enjoyed the invitation to BBQ on July 4th.

The peacefulness of the property added to our wonderful trip to YNP.

Very special experience

  • 5 of 5

The house is good just as we expect. I have two kids, 7 and 9 year old. We bring an queue size air bed. The room is just perfect for us. The kitchen is very simple, only two small size stove range. It has microwave, toaster, blender. I bring my own rice cooker and water heater. It provides washer and dryer, no dishwasher.

The road to the house is a little bit bumpy, but not a problem for my Honda pilot(just 2WD). It is 20 min drive from YS west entrance.

We only saw deer, almost every morning, walking outside.

The owner is very kind, easy to communicate.
