About the property

Imagine Camping In Luxury In 400 Sf One Bedroom Cabin with 500 sf kitchen/bath

Imagine camping in luxury in your own 400 sf one bedroom cabin with thousands of acres of national forest wilderness out your front door. Deer, elk, bears and many other birds and beasts may wander by at any time. This precious cabin offers you a comfortable high mountain experience protected from the wind, rain, cold, and insects. Located on acres of trees and flowering meadows and surrounded by the targhee national forest, the spacious deck offers you the perfect venue to take in all the sights and sounds of the Yellowstone high country. Take a walk down the driveway to view the Tetons, Henrys lake, snake river, centennial mountains, meadow creak wildlife reserve and the Yellowstone plateau. Witness incomparable sunrises and sunsets.

Surreal, serene, quiet, peaceful, exciting, magical, etherial, and transcendental are some adjectives used by our guests to describe our high mountain adventure ambiance.

Each day one is able to choose any of the numerous nearby outdoor activities or picnic in Yellowstone National Park which is only minutes away. In less than two hours you are able to visit Grand Targhee ski resort, Jackson Hole, Grand Teton National Park, St. Anthony's sand dunes, Virginia City, or Big Sky.

Of particular interest are the hundreds of miles of bike and snow mobile trails that begin at your back door and the world class fishing found on henry's lake and the snake river.

Please note, you will have to walk down stairs to access the bathroom as our cabin is built into the front side of the property's 1300 sf garage; our vrbo property 239561 shares the same 3 acre lot but is not seen from our high mountain adventure cabin. We do not recommend our high mountain adventure for for older folks who don't like stairs, mountains, or adventure.

"Most assuredly this has been a one-of-a-kind experience! we love cabin vacations, and this one out does all the rest in tis beautiful scenic location. From the chatter of the gentle winds to the distant view of the Tetons, all have made this a trip we will long remember. Pam and Doc have been the perfect hosts-there when we need them, yet giving us time to relish the solitude on our own. We hope you enjoy your stay as much as we have. And remember-hug the mountain." John + Anais, Austin Texas, June 24, 2015

"Thank you Pam and Doc for being the wonderful hosts. It was a great experience and we enjoyed our stay every bit. We will definitely recommend this place to our family and friends. Thanks again," Remya, Edmonton Ca Jul 7, 2015

"What an outstanding piece of land you have!. The peacefulness and solitude is second to none. We had an excellent time while staying at your cabin and we are very sorry to have to leave. Thanks for opening your home to us and being such gracious hosts." Jason and Amanda, Washington DC July 14, 2015

We would like to point out how convenient High Mountain Adventure is to Yellowstone Park. There are 5 entrances to the Park. How long of a drive is it from the nearest town to Old Faithful?: South-Jackson 2:08; East-Cody 2:30; Northeast-Red Lodge 3:36; North-Gardiner 1:33; West Yellowstone 0:50. 95% of the VRBO HOMES in the West Yellowstone market are over 10 minutes away from West Yellowstone. There are over 1000 VRBO sites in the "Yellowstone Country" category. That means that Top of the World is in the top 1% for all VRBO listings in the Yellowstone region for convenience to the Park. It is only 12-15 minutes to the West Gate from Top of the World. You get a world-class experience without being crowded into a West Yellowstone motel nor in close proximity to other subdivision homes. In addition, there are many incredible hiking and biking trails, boating, river floats, waterfalls, springs, atv rentals, horseback riding, and wildlife viewing withing a 20 minute drive of the cabin. It doesn’t get any better than this. High Mountain Adventure.

Beautiful, private & extremly clean

  • 5 of 5

We loved our time at this rental. We stayed for 3 days while visiting Yellowstone National Park. It was a tad bit out of the way, but so so worth a few extra minutes of drive time. The rental is extremely clean & very comfortable. The location is so private & the surroundings & view are incredible. It's an adventure in itself getting up the mountain, but that just added to the fun. Pam & John were so hospitable & provided everything we needed for a comfortable & enjoyable stay. This property is exactly as advertised. Highly recommend it!!

Quiet Cozy Stay

  • 5 of 5

The property is exactly as advertised -- A quiet and cozy get-away high on a mountain. We didn't find the split arrangement (BR upstairs, kitchen/bath downstairs) of any real disadvantage. The kitchen was well stocked with necessities. The bed was excellent for a rental property.

The trip up and down the mountain is a bit tricky, especially if it's rainy and muddy, but it's certainly accessible with a 4WD and some patience and fortitude. It's not like any city driving you've done.

The owners were extremely accommodating and very pleasant. We weren't interrupted when we wanted quiet, and they were available, by email ahead of time and in-person during our stay, to meet our needs.

We booked for a 9-day honeymoon, primarily due to proximity to YNP. It was a pleasant 20-minute trip into the park every day, and it kept us away from the noise and traffic of West Yellowstone. The cabin had coolers and plastic containers for use, which allowed us to prepare meals each day and picnic in the park. It all worked out perfectly.

We would definitely stay again!

We'd give six stars if we could!!

  • 5 of 5

Oh my. Where do I begin? My wife and I came here for our honeymoon and we had such a good time! It was very private and Pam and John were such great hosts, they always made us feel unrushed and made sure we had everything we needed. I've been going to yellowstone for years and this was definitely the best way to do it. The road really was not a big deal, I got up and down in my corolla no big deal in the rain. If you've never driven on a mountain road before then yes you may want to rent a 4 wheel drive or something but we were good. We would come back again in a heartbeat. Our only disappointment was not being able to stay longer!

Beautiful, peaceful cabin on top of the mountain!

  • 5 of 5

We really enjoyed our stay at the mountain retreat. They had everything there we needed for our stay. I would recommend getting any food or anything else you need in town before making the drive up the mountain. It was a little scary the 1st time we drive up the mountain but the view at the top was worth it! I also wouldn't recommend driving up at night. We got a little confused with the roads driving up one night.

Overall this was a great mountain retreat like it is stated. We would recommend this place or stay ourselves if we come back out that way.

The views are awe inspiring. It is very quiet and secluded.

  • 5 of 5

Pam was a most gracious host. Apparently I had not done my research very well and when we arrived I was surprised to find the bathroom down a flight of stairs which Cliff would not have been able to negotiate. I was also initially terrified by the drive up to the property. In the middle of my meltdown Pam calmly assured me that she would accommodate us elsewhere. Which she did-beautifully!

Thankfully we had an all wheel drive vehicle. A standard car would not have been able to make the climb. Once off the mountain it is an easy 15 miles to the West entrance to Yellowstone.
