About the property

1st Floor, 1Bdrm, 1Ba In Esperanza,walkable to Beaches,restaurants,activities

Fortunately, being constructed entirely of concrete our Dos Palmas home weathered the storm with no damage. The island overall was not as lucky, with many homes destroyed and many more suffering damage. Electricity is still out across the island.

Due to the lack of electricity we are not accepting reservations for the immediate future, (DEC '17-MAR '18) If you wish to travel before electricity is reliably restored to Esperanza, please send us an inquiry and we will update you with the latest current conditions before accepting/confirming your reservation dates. We are accepting future reservations as normal. Please check back often for updates.

1 Bdrm, 1 Ba, Ground Floor Apt. in the small beach side village of Esperanza. A short 1 Block walk to the Malecon, Restaurants, Beaches, Activities, etc.

WIFI and a Smart TV/DVD.

Perfect for a couple, or a single traveler, or those on a budget.

A well stocked kitchen if you decide to eat in. Includes a Refrigerator and Freezer, Stove top and Oven, Microwave, Coffee maker, Toaster, Blender, Pots and Pans, and Utensils. Dining table and chairs in kitchen.

The bedroom has a King size bed and additional seating for two.

Bathroom has a nice sized shower, shelves, and a closet for storage.

A/C is available in the bedroom, if needed, and the kitchen and bedroom each have a ceiling fan and floor fans as well.

Bed linens and Bath towels are provided, as well as Beach towels and Beach chairs, and a cooler is available for use, along with snorkel masks and fins

In the rear of the house, in a tropical setting is a pebble walkway leading to an Outdoor Shower Area.

Also in the backyard is a covered gazebo with chairs for sitting and relaxing, along with a BBQ grill for grilling your favorites, the local catch of the day, or lobsters from the fish market!

Steps away from Lydia's Market and La Dulce Bakery, (great pastries and excellent pizza!)

Steps away from everything in Esperanza, since the whole town is easily walkable. A car rental is not necessary, although you may want one to explore the rest of what Vieques has to offer.

Dos Palmas Apt. is located in a nice residential neighborhood with great neighbors, a mix of local residents and rental properties.

There are dogs, cats, chickens, horses, iguanas, and mongoose that freely roam Vieques, and at times the neighborhood as well. You will undoubtedly see and hear several varieties of Vieques wildlife during your stay. It's totally different than our neighborhood in the states, and that's why we love it as we do

Vieques can seem to be a little daunting to get to at first glance, the good news is that once you do arrive you won't want to leave!

There are several options in traveling from SJU to Vieques, and the price for each can vary greatly. When guests book with us we send them an email detailing the options available, along with the most up to date pricing to help them decide which option would work best depending on their budget and travel times.

Thank You for considering our vacation rental apartment!

About Chip & Angie Hicks

After traveling to various islands in the Caribbean, we knew immediately we had found 'Our Island' on our first trip to Vieques. After several trips we found our home, and we hope to share it with others so they may discover the beauty of Vieques for themselves. In our travels we always stayed at small family owned places with a self contained kitchen for the option of eating in. Our kitchen is well stocked so that could be an option on your vacation as well, though we do recommend sampling some of the many restaurant options Esperanza and the Island have.

Chip & Angie Hicks purchased this apartment in 2014

Why Chip & Angie Hicks chose Vieques

Located close to the Malecon and beaches, and being within walking distance to everything in Esperanza, it's a great location for a vacation home.

What makes this apartment unique

Located in a nice neighborhood with great neighbors, a mix of local residents and rental properties, within easy walking distance to bars/restaurants, and local attractions.

Great location. Well appointed. Very clean.

  • 5 of 5

The house is located just a bit up the road from the Malacon. One minute walk to the local grocery and the bakery which has very good sandwiches and occasionally pizza in the afternoon. The Malacon with a variety of restaurants and bars is an easy five minute walk. Sun Bay, a large, beautiful public beach with some amenities (restaurant, bathrooms) is about a mile away. If you are hearty and on a budget you could manage a Vieques vacation without the need for a car.

It is the best appointed Vrbo I have ever rented. Well equipped kitchen, plenty of towels, coolers, snorkel gear, chairs, washer and dryer. There is even a nice assortment of sun tan lotions, shampoo and shower gel and a couple of sun hats. And a basket of individually wrapped earplugs to protect you from the ubiquitous roosters.

The king size bed is very comfortable and dressed in fresh crisp linens. The shower is also very good. The bedroom has a Smart TV but it doesn't have cable or satellite but you can catch up when you get home.

The bedroom is on the small side, about 13 by 13, but there is plenty of room to lounge on the shaded nicely landscaped front deck or the very nice garden in back. Miguel, the caretaker, is directly across the street and he is very friendly and helpful should you need anything.

We had the pleasure of having breakfast at Tradewinds with Angie and Chip before they left the island and it made our trip that much more enjoyable. They are a charming couple who are sincerely interested in making sure your stay is as good as it can be.

Amazing month!

  • 5 of 5

Yes, we stayed a month in paradise! The home was everything we needed to relax and enjoy the island, well maintained and exceptionally clean and the bed so comfy. We loved all the beaches but Blue Beach was by far the most beautiful with the best snorkeling, go way to the end, road 18, and swim out to the rocky point and you will enjoy sea fans, coral and some beautiful fish. Walk to the bakery and enjoy fresh bread in the morning and the pizza is awesome too! The location is perfect and easy walk to the Malecon. We did rent a Jeep two different times but just to go exploring. Yes, there are chickens and horses and they do get a little loud sometimes but that is part of the charm! Stay in this home, enjoy the island and get away from your normal routine...that is what vacations are for! We would definitely stay here again!

Quiet, clean and convenient!

  • 5 of 5

I enjoyed my stay. The apartment had everything I needed. The kitchen had all the cooking implements. The outdoor shower was lovely. The bed was large and comfortable. I have no idea why they provide earplugs as I didn't hear anything but the coquis, the chickens, the occasional dog, the clopping of random horse hooves... and that's about it. I had a wonderful time on Vieques and I found this apartment near enough to the "action", but still on a quiet street. Highly recommended for those who like to get out there and do, but want a cozy home base!

Perfect location, Great Property!

  • 5 of 5

Their were two of us and the property was great. We loved being able to walk to town, the bakery around the corner was great and being able to pick up a few essentials at the small food store was nice. Miguel met us as we step out of the taxi and was great about showing us around and asking if we needed anything whenever we ran across him during our 3 day stay.

The condo had everything we needed; beach towels, chairs, cooler, snorkel gear and such.

Some reviews had mentioned the noise from the local dogs and chickens and, yes, their is some for sure but, with a little fore warning it wasn't that big of a deal.

We rented scooters for our stay and it was very nice to have a secure location to store them at night.

If we make it back to Esperanza (and I hope we do), we will certainly book with Angie and Chip again. They provided all the information we needed and made our stay in Vieques stress free.

As advertised, very convenient to everything Esperanza has to offer.

  • 4 of 5

Clean and comfortable, if you are only in Vieques for a short visit and don't feel the need to explore the whole island you could get away with staying here without a vehicle. Plenty of good places to eat, 2 stores, and a bakery, and beaches all within walking distance.
