About the owner: My name is Bill; my wife’s name is Cathy. We have lived in Ashland for the last 30 years, although I've lived here since I was a child. Cathy had moved up from Glendale CA to attend Southern Oregon University to become an RN. She was working part time for the Mt. Ashland Ski Resort when we met. We fell in love, eventually married, and had three beautiful girls. Ashland has been a good place to be raising a family. Together we enjoy hikes, bike rides, swimming, skiing both water and snow, boating, rafting, fishing, and camping and more. We love the four distinct seasons, and the colorful leaves of autumn are just beginning for this season, it soon will be a sight to behold.
Why the Owner Chose Ashland:
I've been owner manager of rental properties since 1981, although this is my first vacation rental. I've been doing this for a few years now and really love sharing it with most wonderful & interesting people I had ever met. I originally purchased this home for my dad who no longer is with us but loved it very much. I also enjoy meeting new people and sharing the great experiences of what this area has to offer.
Bill Christian purchased this cottage in 1992
This has been a wonderful place for us to enjoy outdoor water activities with our family.
Peaceful, fun, wonderful salmon fishing, beautiful scenery, nature at its best.
Didn't spend much time at the cabin; but while we were there, we totally enjoyed the outdoors. The scenery was so quiet and peaceful. The hot tub was a nice treat at the end of the day and the fire pit was enjoyed on a cool evening. Granddaughter's softball tournament kept us away most of the time~
We had such a great time on our short trip. We booked at the last minute and ended up having to leave a day early due to weather on our trip home, but the owner was so accommodating every step of the way. It was so easy and the house was perfect! We definitely want to return again and again and again! We did have to buy a new tank of propane for the BBQ, but we were happy to do it figuring we
would be back again!
We just loved this Cosy, quaint Cottage on the river where our early mornings were spent drinking coffee and looking at the deer grazing across the river, enjoying the variety of birds and wildlife. I think I may have even seen a beaver. The Cottage was so cosy, clean, with comfy beds and a well equipped kitchen and adding the Jacuzzi, Fire pit and the view from the deck I didn't want to leave. Bill the host is an absolute sweetheart and nothing was a problem he was so kind and caring and now a new friend. I highly recommend the River Cottage and I will definitely be going back there to stay.
Thank you for the hospitality. We had a great time!
The house was clean and the beds comfy. We enjoyed sitting outside, listening to the wind blow through the trees, watching people fish and float the river right from the deck.
My husband fished right below the deck everyday.
We didn't want to leave.
We totally enjoyed your little cottage. I love to cook and the kitchen had everything anyone would need for eating in. We really loved sitting outside at the table watching the boats and rafters floating by, many of whom waved back to us. The flights of stairs made easy access to the river. All of the sitting areas, including the hot tub were inviting and comfortable. It was a treat to wake up to the train whistle and look out at the trees from bed. Thanks for a memorable birthday weekend. Tom & Gerie, Quincy, California
