Classic Bermuda Home with ocean views, nicely updated kitchen, 3 Bedroom, 2 bath
Traditional Bermudian home, beautifully and carefully updated. 3 bedroom, 2 bath. Located on one of the higher hills on the island, giving wonderful views of Harrington Sound and North Shore.
We've had guests come and want to go out for dinner, but once they see the view, experience the sunset and the twinkly lights come on across Harrington Sound, they stock up at the grocery store, and cook in our well equipped kitchen! Located in Smith's Parish, convenient to Hamilton, St George's, the Airport, Flatts Village with restaurants and Aquarium. Thoughtful updates include split wall air conditioning, new windows and sliding glass door, 2017. Kitchen all new 2014. Stainless appliances, including dishwasher, gas stove and oven.
King bed or 2 twins in main bedroom, views of Harrington Sound. Can be en suite with just a close of a door!
Queen size bed in second bedroom, views of Harrington Sound . Third Bedroom has 2 twin beds, can be made into a king bed on request, garden views. 2 full bathrooms. Washer and dryer.
Living and room with new slider to front terrace with views of the ocean. Step out to private grounds of 1/2 acre.
Relax under large shade Poinciana Tree.
Barbecue and dine on terrace off living room watching the sun set in the west. In the morning eat breakfast watching the sun rise in the east. All the while there is the view of Harrington Sound and Atlantic Ocean beyond!! Twinkling lights at night in the distance. Star gaze to your hearts content. Bermuda is zika free. Only occasionally do we have a mosquito. We sit outside all evening. You'll love the colorful small geckos, great house companions and insect eaters! Please don't disturb them! We aren't on the water, we are atop one of the highest hills, hence the beautiful views. The beaches are a bus ride away. Bermuda is 21 miles long, 1 mile at its widest, so the ocean is never far away. This is a 65 year old house that though it has been lovingly restored, has it's imperfections, some will love and some need to have more of a hotel experience!
Please note, on rare occasion we accept a pet on a limited basis. If you have allergies to pets, please seek other accommodations.
The Bermuda pink bus number 3, pass through Harrington Hundreds, a 7 minute walk away. They go to Hamilton, a 15 minute ride, and St Georges, a 25 minute ride about every 30 minutes until 6pm.
12 minutes walk down the hill you arrive at Harrington Hundreds Grocery. A very good small grocery serving the neighborhood and the upmarket Tucker's Town area. They have a chef preparing hot food daily, plus a wide range of meats, vegetables, groceries, and special dietary foods.
We have 4 sets of masks and flippers and beach umbrella.
Our lane is wide enough for one car, please be careful when walking and when riding scooters, please drive defensively and slowly, especially as well on the main roads!

About Marion and Gary Tilton
Our family has lived on the island for 235 years! I am a Bermudian who was raised in this exceptional home. My father who was a jeweler on the island, was raised in the 300 year old house next door which is now owned by my brother! My father was given this piece of his Dad's farmland with lovely views when he was ready to be married to my Mom. My Mom met my Dad when she and her sister came to Bermuda on a flying boat in 1948 from their home in Philadelphia. My Mom and Dad built this house you will be visiting, and we hope you love it as much as we do. I have always had one foot in Bermuda and one in the US. I moved to the US in 1980 to become a flight attendant for Delta Air Lines. A perfect profession for an islander privileged to have dual citizenship! I married a lovely New Hampshireite, Gary, in 1987. We have 2 children who have always loved Bermuda and have their status in Bermuda, having spent much time here.
Marion and Gary Tilton purchased this House in 1951
Why Marion and Gary Tilton chose Smiths
This much revered piece of property has been in our family for several generations. I say revered because it is on the second highest hill on the island with wonderful views. It is far enough away from the main roads that you hardly hear a vehicle! Bermuda is a gem of an island, then you get to High Terraces, and you feel like you are on your own, very private. Like you are the Crown Jewel in a very special spot. You have to understand though, our house is on the reasonable side of pricing for a reason! It is lovely, but it isn't a hotel!! In the summer every scrap of food must be put away quickly, as ants will find it wherever it is! If you have allergies it might not be the right place. We have heat and air conditioning to dry the atmosphere, but we've have a guest say it was musty at first! Welcome to our island!
What makes this House unique
Spectacular location for walkers, hikers. Getting away from it all, and for those who want to show their family what it is like to be a real Bermudian! The house is filled with good feelings and wonderful memories for me. I grew up here with five cousins next door, and other friends and family nearby. We walked down the hill almost every day in the summer to Harrington Sound. The odd day we didn't go there we were in our boat, or at one of the fabulous South Shore Beaches. We had forts on the properties, hand raised crows for pets when our parents wouldn't spring for a horse or a dog!!

Spittal Pond Nature Reserve is a 15 minute walk away at the bottom of Harrington Hundreds Hill, on the other side of the street from Harrington Hundreds Grocery, a small very nice market.
The Bermuda Aquarium Museum and Zoo, an internationally recognized facility, is a 20 minute walk, where it is located in a lovely village called Flatt's. Find restaurants, views, beautiful scenes.
If you feel more comfortable using the busses than renting mopeds, the number 3 bus goes half hourly during the day, up to 6pm to the city of Hamilton and to St Georges or Grotto Bay. You can get off the bus to walk over to John Smith's Bay Beach, about a 10 minute walk. The beach is a 1.7 mile walk from our house. You can also take the bus to Crystal Caves, Grotto Bay and the boat, scuba, etc, rental shop next door.
So many wonderful things to do. We had one guest who stayed 3 times one winter, say you need to let people know how easy to access the whole island you are!
