About the property

6 Bedroom, 3.5 Bath, Sleeps 2-14, Unobstructed Mountain Views, Near Jackson Hole

Set in the tranquil Teton Valley of Idaho, Rivendell Mountain House is on the western slope of the Teton Range, a short drive from Jackson Hole, Wyoming. We are minutes from rivers, lakes, mountain trails, wildlife, and an abundance of outdoor activities. Located at the southern end of the Valley, Rivendell is roughly 30 minutes from both Grand Targhee and Jackson Hole Mountain Resorts. Both offer world class skiing in the winter and a plethora of other activities and festivals in the summer. Yellowstone and Grand Teton National Parks are also close by and offer countless day trip possibilities and adventures.

The home is in a quiet neighborhood on the edge of Victor, so you have all the benefits of being near town, but with the feeling of being in the country with unobstructed views of the Big Hole Mountains. A short walk in the summer will take you to free concerts in the park or to the trailhead of a favorite hike.

Rivendell Mountain House offers just over four thousand square feet of living space, six bedrooms, three-and-a-half baths, so is spacious enough to accommodate up to fourteen comfortably. The large kitchen has granite counter tops, stainless steel appliances, and bar stools for an eat in kitchen. We also provide pots, pans, plate ware, and full kitchen amenities. There are some basic cooking supplies in the pantry, and you'll just need to stop by the store for food for the pantry, and you'll be set. There are items for babies, including a high chair, sippy cups, and bibs for your little ones.

Outside, there is a grill, a covered deck, overlooking the gorgeous Big Hole Mountains, and a fire pit. In the garage, you’ll find marshmallow sticks and extra outdoor chairs ready for you to enjoy a fire as the sun sets. In the fall, you can hear the elk bugle nearby!

The upstairs living room has an over-sized leather sofa, with nicely appointed western themes, and additional seating oriented around a large fireplace. The downstairs entertainment and recreational room has a large sofa to comfortably watch movies on a giant flat screen T.V. with surround sound for a theatre-like atmosphere. There is a DVD player and a large selection of movies, along with Apple TV for access to Netflix and Other Media. You can easily access cold drinks from the nearby mini-fridge or enjoy a snack using the popcorn machine.

This room has lots of run-around space too, a drawer full of nerf guns to battle it out whether young or young at heart. There is a foosball table, Thomas the Train, Legos, a doll house, and even a swing. Plenty to keep children of al ages engaged. The cabinets are full of toys and a nearby closet is stocked with games.

The spacious Master Bedroom has a queen bed, bookshelves and two cozy sitting chairs. There is a master suite with a jetted jacuzzi tub and a two-headed shower. A wonderful walk-in closet is tucked in behind the master bathroom.

Bedroom 2 (The Princess Room) sleeps two, with a trundle bed, and Room 3 (The Boys Room) with a western theme has two twin beds. Both rooms share a guest bathroom. The main floor also has one additional half bath.

Bedroom 4 (The Loft) is located upstairs with 4 twin beds and a T.V with additional seating to watch movies.

Bedroom 5 (The Cowboy Room) & 6 (The Franklin Room Suite) are located downstairs. Room 6 also has a small table and couch and is attached to a bathroom, accessible to the recreation room and Bedroom 5 as well. Each of these rooms have 1 queen bed making this home sleep 14 beautifully!

Each room has plenty of storage space both in closets and in dressers.

There is a crib mattress, and a pack-n-play for little tykes so that you don't have to pack one. Also there is a handmade wooden bassinet for the tiny ones, available in the downstairs suite.

Music can be played throughout the home from your iPhone or iPad through a network of built in speakers. High-speed wireless is also available throughout the house.

About Mindy Noyes

Ian and I are so delighted to share our special home with you! We've dreamt about a place like Rivendell Mountain House where we could welcome weary travelers, and those that needed a break from the demands of busy work lives. We've envisioned Rivendell to be a sanctuary for families who need to draw closer, friendships to be rekindled, a retreat for you and your loved ones, or a place to base from while you adventure in the wonderful West.

Ian and I met on the Arkansas River, where I was a river guide, and he was a mountaineering guide. He took his campers down the river that I guided on and the rest is history.

We have three children, two from Ethiopia, and are an active family that loves the outdoors and going on adventures together. We find time in creation rejuvenating and also love to read around the fire or play games together.

Now, Ian is a pastor, and I am a bee-keeper, urban farmer, ceramicist, and doula.

Mindy Noyes purchased this house in 2010

Why Mindy Noyes chose Teton Valley

When we moved to Victor, we were looking for a home where we could raise our family and have access to rivers, mountains, and a plethora of activities and adventures all around us. With our love for the outdoors, and an amazing meeting with the previous owners, we felt led to purchase this home. It suited us well for the three years that we lived here. However, an unexpected job change cut our time short and we moved away from the Valley. We still have many close friends here though and love to visit whenever we get the chance.

We hope to keep this home in the family for generations to come, as so many enoy the west. My father was a horse-packing guide in Colorado, and my husband and I grew up backpacking and climbing all over the Rockies. We often come out and take friends and family rafting down the Snake River, for a wonderful overnight trip.

So it is with great joy that we share with you this very special home to serve as a base for your Teton adventures. We also give 10% of all the proceeds to EduKenya, a school and community development organization in the Mathare slum outside Kenya.

There are many more details about the home that I would be happy to share with you if you are interested!

What makes this house unique

We love the sunset views out of the western side of the house! This is why we have a chair-and-a-half facing the back windows, and a fire pit in the backyard so that you can roast marshmallows and cook hotdogs over the fire! In the winter, you can ski right out of the backyard and into the field beyond and get a cross country ski in without having to drive anywhere. The proximity of our home to Jackson Hole, only 25 minutes away, to the gems of the Teton Valley, and World Class powder at Grand Targhee Ski Resort, and to Yellowstone, make this an ideal landing place. Also, the cathedral ceilings are beautiful, and well appointed 3 inch granite counter tops, and hardwood floors, and built-in speakers throughout the house to play your favorite music are just a few of the wonderful touches in the home. There is a great swing in the basement for little ones, and numerous toys for little people, as well as a doll house for young girls, and fun treasures to find for all. There is a game closet for those who would like to remain back while others go on an adventure. You'll see our 'African wall' which gives you a glimpse into our love for Africa and the people there. Welcome to Rivendell Mountain House!

The house is exactly home away from home. Beautiful house. Pictures are very accurate . If you have a family on vacation , this is the house . A little too far from Yellowstone but that's not the house fault . It is everything the description says!

Owner's Response: Dear Judy, we are so happy that you stayed with us and that you enjoyed the home, and all the wonderful places to explore! I am sorry that you felt that Yellowstone was a bit of a drive. Our place is right in the middle of so many amazing things to explore, it is hard to fit so many wonderful places to see in only 4 days! If you have the chance to come back and stay a little longer, I imagine fitting in Yellowstone will be a little easier. I think I could spend a month in each place! Again, thank you for coming and we hope to have you back!~~Sincerely, Mindy

Wonderful family experience.

  • 5 of 5

This home has a wonderful view of the mountains to the West. It is well appointed in furnishings and the kitchen has all the needs of a professional cook. The basement has many toys and games for all. Our family gathering of 10 was easily accommodated by the many bedrooms and baths. We found the Tetons, Jackson Hole and the Yellowstone, within easy reach from Victor. My car developed a small leak of anti freeze and of course I had to have it fixed. I found a local shop who replaced a faulty hose. I expected to pay $125 or more but to my amazement, they only charged $10. Yes ten dollars. They were so nice. A wonderful overall experience with Rivendell House.

Rivendell Mountain House is nestled in the Teton Valley where there is world-class fishing, rafting down the Snake, skiing Jackson or Grande Targhee; amazing wildlife viewing (moose, elk, grizzly, deer, bison, wolves), hiking and biking. Whether you want to stay on the Idaho side, there is plenty to do with Grande Targhee Ski Resort, and hiking trails galore, or whether you want to go to Jackson Hole, on the Wyoming side, you won't be in want for fantastic activities to do. Our rates are much more affordable than what you would get in Jackson Hole, and so very close, to be able to experience the best of both states. Bar-J-Wranglers, a must-see-summer cowboy western dinner and music show is in Jackson Hole. Famous Jackson Hole area is 25 miles away. Music festivals on both sides of the Tetons. Grand Teton National Park, and Yellowstone National Park is close as well. Base your stay at Rivendell Mountain House, and you can have the best of the West, and the comfort of 'your own home' to come back to after your day's adventures. There are wildlife museums, art museums, sleigh rides in the winter, an Elk Refuge that you can ride into with your family on a sleigh in the winter. Summer time you can take the chair lift up Grande Targhee's ski mountain, and almost feel as thought you are parallel to the top of the Tetons, with amazing views and gorgeous wildflowers! This area too, is known for their hunting, and fishing as well, so if families want to come, and 'the men' want to hunt while the ladies stay back in the coziness of Rivendell, and take a cross country ski, it can serve many purposes! The sunset views from Rivendell Mountain House are spectacular.
