About Steve Affleck
Karin and I have loved having this home as a gathering place for our family of nine children and 40+ grandchildren. Reunions, Thanksgiving, Christmas, honeymoons, anniversaries... are just a few memories that have come to mean so much to us. We are retired from the automotive parts distribution business. I am a serious fly-tier and fly fisherman. Some of the finest 'Blue Ribbon Fishing' is close by. We built this home as a gathering place for our family. It can be just that for you.
Steve Affleck purchased this House in 1997
Why Steve Affleck chose Star Valley Ranch
LOCATION, LOCATION, LOCATION! This family retreat is in a beautiful location, close to places like Jackson Hole. The Cabin @ Star Valley is designed to accommodate large groups...like family reunions or business retreats. You may want to go to Jackson Hole to do some shopping, visit an art gallery, see a movie, ride the white water rapids of the Snake River, go to dinner, listen to cowboy poetry or a see live play. You can hike local canyons to beautiful waterfalls. The surrounding communities are full of western culture, hosting fairs real western rodeos and more. You won't want to miss a thing while staying at The Cabin @ Star Valley.
What makes this House unique
In my humble opinion, the Cabin @ Star Valley is on the very best lot on Star Valley Ranch. The large bay windows reveal a stocked fishing pond only 100 yards from the back porch. The spectacular view of the pond, golf course, fairways, towering aspen trees and lodge-pole pines is a sight to behold. The large bay windows bring the wonders of nature's beauty almost right inside with you. You can have access to golf carts and all-terrain vehicles to help you get around and explore the wonders of nature around you! This is the view for anyone sitting at the 18 place dining table. The gourmet kitchen has two of everything...ovens, stove (one gas, the other electric). A dozen people can sit around the large kitchen island. Each bedroom on the lower level has a decorative theme. The Cowboy Room, the Lighthouse room, the Lovebird's Nest, the Norwegian room and the Disney room. There are two laundry rooms; one on the main level, the other downstairs.

Perfect for our family of 8 with plenty of room and space for more! Beautiful views and location!
The owners, Steve and Karin, are the sweetest and very accommodating. We decided to take our 6 x "kids" ages: 14-22 out of the Las Vegas desert for Spring Break to visit friends in Alpine, Wyoming. This property was close to our friends, but also within proximity to all the beautiful places we visited while on this trip: Jackson Hole, Grand Teton, National Wildlife Art Museum, Elk Refuge, Afton, Snake River and more! Prior to our arrival, the owners made sure to provide us a very thorough walk-through of the house along with a bonus list of Things to Do while staying in town. Since we were arriving late in the evening, Steve and Karin were more than happy to show our friends the property and fortunately we were able to meet the owners upon our departure. Our usually picky teenagers were happy with the choices in rooms and beds along with the WiFi service which turns out we didn't really need because we spent so much time playing outside in the snow during the day and plenty of board games, puzzles, books and movies are provided in the house for your family's enjoyment. They even have a piano and organ for family enjoyment... like dueling pianos! We had so much fun and are already planning a return visit in the near future. I secretly want to keep this property quiet so that when we do return, it will be available... however, Steve and Karin are the greatest so I want everyone to know that if you are visiting this area - this is where you want to stay! So spacious, clean, pristine, great value and most accommodating owners. What more could you ask for? In our case, all we wanted was more vacation time! We highly recommend this property whether you plan on a large family gathering or a small group getaway, look no further. 3 levels of perfectly sized and spaced out bedrooms and bathrooms, along with great movie watching room with fireplace and giant bean bags for the entire family to hang out and watch a movie after a long day sight seeing outdoors. You know you discovered a great property when the entire family (teens who normally disagree with everything) wants to stay longer and does not want to go home. Thank you for letting us stay in your beautiful home, Steve and Karin!
Great property! Very well equipped home. We used it for a family get together for a family Wedding in the area. Lots of room for everyone to spread out. Fantastic kitchen and
wonderful to have a dining table that accommodates so many. It was great that Owner met
us and went over any questions we had. Sunsets were fantastic. Home exceeded
our expectations, and was as nice as described.
We had a great experience staying here.
My family and I had a great time at this property. It was clean and fully stocked to make our stay fun and complete. It is in a beautiful spot and we would certainly want to use it again.
We had a great time the Ranch. It was wonderful clean plan to have a reunion.Great fishing. The only thing I can think of that it needs is some hooks in the bathrooms. I recommend it highly. The Anderson's
This is our first review of less than 5 Stars. Hooks in the bathrooms. Thank you for the suggestion. I will install software me tomorrow.
A ++++--Wonderful home, setting, amenities and location--we had the best time!
Our extended family group of about 20 adults and children spent the August 2017 eclipse week here and had an absolutely wonderful, memorable time. We are a farflung group--we converged upon Star Valley Ranch from Maine, Hawaii, Arizona, Massachusetts, California, Florida and even London, England.
We quickly discovered that the house was perfect for groups like ours. We had several dinners on the sweeping porch overlooking Star Valley, using the propane powered grill for steaks and fish. The house has a large, fully-equipped kitchen, with a great breakfast bar island, and near it is the longest dining table (ideal for a group dinner) I've seen in a while. Adjoining the dining area is a very large living/family area, with comfortable sofas and chairs enough to seat a gathering. We had so much fun in the evenings there, playing games some nights (the house comes well equipped with all kinds of board and other games), singing and playing music (one of our group brought along a guitar and four or five of us played it). The downstairs has an an equally large family room area with a huge viewing screen--great for the younger group to hang out and watch movies after the elders have retired. The house has seven very nicely furnished bedrooms and four full baths. The house is rated to sleep 26 and it accommodated our slightly smaller group very nicely. Two of the bedrooms have their own Jacuzzi-type tubs as well as showers. It's a place made for family reunions and similar gatherings.
The house sits across the road from the golf course, with a trout pond right in front of the house. There is access to club amenities, including the swimming pool and golf. Star Valley Ranch abuts the National Forest, so mountain and valley hiking is literally a short walk up the road. We hiked into the hills behind the house to see Star Valley from on high. It's not a strenuous climb but the views are rewarding. The Star Valley and extended area has much else to offer. We really enjoyed Intermittent Spring hike in Afton---it's a half hour drive, including the winding access road, and the hike is pretty easy--wheelchair accessible even. We also made the beautiful and easy drive to Jackson, and also spent time at Palisades Reservoir. Bottom line--there is a lot to see and do.
Lastly, thank you to Steve and Karin, the owners of this beautiful house, for giving our family such an enjoyable place to get together. We'll never forget our time there.
Perfect Reunion Property
There was plenty of space in this house for my family of 20. My favorite thing was being able to sit down together for meals at the enormous dining table.
There were beautiful views overlooking the pond at the golf course. There was a little lawn area where we were able to have a ladderball tournament.
The house provided all our basic needs with plenty of towels and a well stocked kitchen.
It was peaceful and the weather was beautiful (August). The owners welcome manual was helpful and gave tips on things to do in the area. We hiked intermittent Spring which was worth the drive.
This spectacular vacation property is located on the Star Valley Ranch in Western Wyoming. The home overlooks a beautiful fishing pond that separates the tee box and green of the eighth hole on the Aspen Hills golf course. Enjoy two tennis courts that are just a short walk from the house,or use one of the two golf carts to navigate to the swimming pool adjacent to the 18- hole Cedar Hills golf course.
