This beautiful free-standing, separate garden guest house has an open floor plan & is located in the back of the property behind the main house. It has a carved wood Victorian fireplace mantle & is adorned with decor of Moroccan & Caribbean influence. It receives lots of bright natural light & is surrounded by tropical plants & trees creating a lush ambiance, indoors & out. The jungle-like garden & outdoor fire pit further create a tribal feel. Nestled behind our family home, the entire property is surrounded by a large secure gated wall.

Sallie’s Best Guesthouse is perfect for extended stays for those coming to LA for work or pleasure. You'll park your car on the street but with easy & accessible availability whereby you can almost always find a spot in front. Coming down the driveway you will arrive at the 9 ft. double gate. If no one’s there to greet you personally a key lock box assures easy access with the private code we provided after you booked. You will then step into the secluded jungle-like back yard. We ask that you always keep the entrance gate securely latched behind you for an added level of safety & privacy. One friendly indoor/outdoor kitty cat resides on the property. We ask that you please do not invite him inside the guesthouse during your stay as we maintain high standards keeping these lodgings allergy-free for future guests.
In the main room, the 12 foot vaulted ceilings have 3 brand new ceiling fans that circulate air year round and have lighting also. A newly-installed mini-split HVAC keeps things cool during late summer & early fall and toasty during our California 'winters'. Three skylights, one in each area, main room, kitchen, and bath, filter in natural light. Additionally 9 spotlights on dimmers were installed on the beamed ceiling to create dramatic and soft lighting effects. Recessed lighting (6 in the kitchen, 2 in the walk-in closet, and 2 in the bath) creates lighting control throughout, from bright to romantic to dramatic. A real fireplace with an ornate solid oak Victorian mantle adds a cozy, romantic & inviting touch.
A large bathroom has a shower/bathtub, plenty of plush towels & other amenities previously noted. In addition a first-aid kit is tucked under the sink with everything from A to Z, be it sunscreen, Band Aids. A large changing room closet has room for clothes, luggage, an iron and board, a drying rack, hangers & the twin bed. Overhead shelving is perfect if you are staying for a longer period of time & need more storage. One wall in the main room is covered in shelves housing; art, books, baskets to put your things in, & even children’s toys— a wonderful wooden train set & stuffed animals. Pint-sized chairs are also available on request for tiny tot guests.
The large granite-countered kitchen is big enough to prepare Thanksgiving dinner for a very large group. If there is anything you need to cook with that you can’t find just ask & we will be happy to get it for you. Just past the outdoor fire pit you'll find a full size washer & dryer located in a separate utility shed. They are free of charge, and shed is stocked with cleaning supplies. If you are here for a while & would like to order periodic maid service just ask & this can be arranged according to your preferences, budget & needs.
Via a private antenna, a 55” flat screen TV provides some (but not all) local major network & international channels. A Roku enables over a hundred on demand channels including Netfilx, Pandora, Hulu, to name a few. Hundreds of feature films, TV, and children's programs are available free of charge. A strong wireless Internet signal & your own private Apple airport dock enable seamless connection to your devices throughout your stay.
We know that perfection is in the details & we always strive to make your stay just a little bit better in any small way we can. During your stay your feedback is welcome as hearing your suggestions while you’re here enables us to make this a more desirable experience for you. I love LA! I have lived here most of my life & still find it full of magic & intrigue. There are always new & exciting things to discover here. I've been short-term hosting my guesthouse since Jan 25, 2015. Guests often say that once inside the gates they feel as if they are in a zen-like, "other dimension!" Then once outside, instantly are back in the heart of the big city, with all the amenities that the fast lane offers. It's a convenient juxtaposition and I like to think it allows guests to experience the best that the City Of Angels has to offer. I'm so glad I began this business as I believe wholeheartedly in the empowerment of short-term rentals. Profoundly, it enhances the ability for modest-budget travelers to explore the world easier, better & more frequently than before this phenomenon began. Traveling is something I like to do too so I want to embellish the thrill travelers will experience by welcoming as many as possible to the City of Angels via my spacious, easy, friendly backyard oasis & plush guesthouse cottage. When I travel I like to go places & blend in as a local, see the city, town or village from the eyes of those who live there. My guesthouse allows that. Its warm, inviting & functional. It's a private little jungle; quiet, peaceful & lush, but outside of the 8 foot walls you will quickly see it is in the very BEST central, heart of the urban epicenter location for getting around & seeing LA. When you stay with us you get a fabulous indoor space, a big garden to relax & entertain in, as well as close proximity to fun places to explore & sight-see. If you're in the entertainment business & coming here for work, we are close to most of the major studios. I want to help you have an amazing stay in LA. This guesthouse is a jewel. It has good, warm, and exotic energy pulsing through it. Before doing turn-key renting I previously rented to longer term guests who never wanted to leave! Several couples have even gotten engaged here— it just has a romantic and warm effect. It is perfect for extended stays as this fully remodeled private guesthouse bungalow comes with modern kitchen and bath and all amenities and is near studios, cultural events, shopping, sightseeing, and tourist attractions. While the space is gorgeous, functional and affordable, the location is nothing less than IDEAL especially for those who need a longer term living situation.
