Great experience, right on the water. I enjoyed watching the otters and birds dive for fish and even talking to the tubers as they floated by. The house is spacious and clean, with a big back screened in porch. Through the week the river is less crowded and quiet, we hung out in the water most of time.

Rustic "Old Florida"

  • 4 of 5

The house was fine after the thermostat problem got fixed. It was amply equipped but we never did find a blender to use. Three mixers though. Close to KP Hole and stores was nice ! Enjoyed making smores in the fire pit and watching the fire flies ! The otters were fun to watch until the motor boats came by. A good time was had by all and we will be back.

Fabulous for the family

  • 5 of 5

Once again our family of 6 enjoyed our stay at this clean and well-equipped cottage on the Rainbow River in Dunellon. The living area is generous and comfortable and the spacious screened in lanaii with large sized table for family dining a bonus. The river sparkles during the day with clear views of the fish below...we spotted a family of otters across the way. We loved the fishing and kayaking and canoeing, swimming and tubing too. After dark we built a fire in the fire pit and gazed at the moon and stars reflected in the crystal clear waters. Friendly neighbours too. This house has everything for all ages and we hope to return soon.

Had a wonderful stay!

  • 5 of 5

We really enjoyed the time that we had in your home. Unfortunately, we only had two days here but hope to return in the future. We really appreciate that your home is well equipped as we needed a wrench during our stay and we were able to locate on (although it would only have been a 5 minute drive to purchase one if we needed to). Great location on the river. We took the kayaks and canoe's up to KP Hole. We also snorkled and scuba dove around the house. We saw many birds, turtles, otters and of course fish. The backyard gave us an area to throw a football and frisbee. We also enjoyed having a fire by the river bank.

Casual, comfortable, quiet, clean family cottage!!!

  • 5 of 5

Loved this family cottage! It was perfect for the two of us and a few occasional guests. There are beds and large gathering areas to accomodate up to 10 people. We paddled our canoes from the shore of the property twice a day for 2 weeks on the gorgeous, crystal clear Rainbow River! We love to cook and were very pleased with the fully-equipped kitchen. All the comforts of home - laundry room, big screen porch with huge family picnic table, beach toys and boats, lawn chairs, heat and air conditioning, ceiling fans in every room, sheets, towels, vacuum, enough toilet paper to last 2 weeks, you name it! I loved the flooring - no carpeting - everything was so clean! I also loved that the beds have nice, clean, high-quality mattress pads. Guests find clean sheets in bedroom dresser drawers and make their own beds. Departing was so very convenient - leave beds unmade and dirty towels in the laundry room - no last minute loads of sheets and towels to wash! We'll be back!

A enchanting place down by the quietly flowing river!

  • 5 of 5

We stayed two weeks from Feb 15 to March 1. The Rainbow River is flat out beautiful! The bird life along the river is grand. Look for the Bald Eagles! We enjoyed sitting down by the water and watching the otters at play on the far bank. We paddled up the river to the spring and a good way down river. The James Cabin is not new or grand but has a comfortable family feel and a nicely equipped kitchen. We especially enjoyed the large round dining table (seats 8 easily) and the additional table on the screened porch, also a table with benches by the river. There are a variety of toys & games which our grandchildren loved when they were not in the water. The yard is flat to the water, we played badminton and croquet.
