Welcome to Sotavento #15, this breathtaking 3 stories condo offers 2 bedrooms & 2 bathrooms with unbelievable views of the Cancun Skyline.

First floor has the guest bedroom with a queen bed and views to the Caribbean Sea. A full bathroom, full kitchen, living and dining area with an oceanfront terrace with chairs. The second floor is the master bedroom, it takes the whole second floor with an amazing full bathroom overlooking to the Caribbean Sea, a large closet area and another oceanfront terrace with chairs. The third level is the terrace with a grill, wet bar, table that seats 6 and 4 lounge chairs to soak up the sun during the day. Very private.

The complex offers parking space and an infinity pool that will blow your mind! There is swimming beach right down the street in the Garrafon park, the closest bar & restaurant is down the street and the zip line park is only 5 minutes away.

Our rental manager has several other units in this same building.

Owners: The Dickie family resides in Colorado about 17 miles south of Denver. We moved to Colorado from California in 1999 with my wife. We have two daughters age 17 and 22. I will be retiring in three to four years and we hope to someday make Sotavento Isla #15 a semi-permanent home.

Sotoavento #15

Very comfortable condo with all the amenities for a family vacation. The location is at the far southern tip of the island which makes it a little remote if you don't have transportation. We rented a golf cart for three days during our eleven day stay. The first two floors are the main living area we seldom used the upper terrace were the barbecue is located. Because the main floor is fourty stairs from the street it's a challenge just using the first two floors of the condo. Not recommended if you have knee or hip issues. With the infinity pool and the Garrafon Gastillia located just below the condo we had many enjoyable days in the water.

Staff and management of the condo were all very courteous and helpful. My damage deposit was returned within a week.

The one unpleasant concern was the frequent odour of sewer gas that was more evident in the evenings. All the drains had rubber stoppers over them but still the odour was evident. It's unfortunate considering the value of the complex that this problem exits and I don't believe it's temporary. Because of the stairs and odour we would not return to Sotoavento.

We moved to the north end of the island and stayed right on the main street of Hidalgo for our last week.

Amazing views, very clean and spacious condo!!

We were so very happy with staying at sotovento #15. It is very spacious, gorgeous views from every floor. Everything was in working order and clean. It was easy to meet for the keys. The infinity pool was an added bonus after long days of exploring. There also was usually someone watching the gate, so felt extra safe. Easy to golfcart around the whole island, but glad we stayed on the southern end. Don't hesitate to book this property- pics and description were spot on, and even better in person. Thank you for a fabulous vacation stay!!

Home away from home

We we're vacationing in Mexico for two weeks and one of the weeks we were fortunate enough to stay at the condo. The condo has everything that one would need from blender to coffee maker to great beds. We would love to return one day and highly recommend this location. The terrace was a hit for sunrise and sunsets.

Stunning Views and Outstanding Property

This is an exceptional and secure property with stunning views. The condo is spacious, beautifully furnished, and comfortable. The staff is friendly and helpful! The location is great because it is away from the busy city center and all inclusive resorts. The island itself is so fun and low key. Amazing beaches, food, and people. Everyone we met was so nice and welcoming. Would highly recommend this condo for anyone!

Quality Condo Stay

Sotavento Condo #15 exceeded my expectations. We originally want to stay in a house only but the condo had the spaciousness of a house without feeling like you are in an "apartment". Not like those high rise condos. Online it looked nice but overall the quality of the condo was outstanding. The look and feel of the condo was quality. Beds were comfortable. Location was great for our needs. We wanted to be away from the all inclusive resorts, commercial district and hotel tourists. The south end of the islanable and all the rooms were spacious. Balconies on all the floors were great to hang out on. Property is clean, safe, well maintained. Would recommend this property and would stay there again.

Great condo / location ok / average management

The condo itself is beautiful, modern, comfortable, well appointed, has enormous rooms with plenty of good quality linens stocked and lots of closet space, ceiling fans throughout are nice, has really excellent views on all three levels, everything was in good working order, radio and television were convenient, the kitchen has a great coffee maker and full set of dishes, plenty of plastic bags and paper towels on hand. The on-property lap pool is really nice. The location is ok - no real beach for the property, but there is a club just across the street that has beach access. It's conveniently located to the one large grocery story on the island and also close to Punta Sur, a very picturesque location at the southern tip of the island. Getting into El Centro is about 20-25 via golf cart each way. It got a little old driving back and forth. The property management had issues. The contact information we were given for arrival no longer worked there and we hadn't gotten the updated contact. We had to make about a dozen calls before we were finally given a new name and time for a person to meet us with the keys. When we did make contact, though, they were on it and got it done quickly. Check-in/ Check-out were handled very well (except for the snafu of finding them). The damage deposit was refunded promptly after we returned. Over all - this is an excellent property and the service was good.

Car: not necessary

A former fishing village, Isla Mujeres still retains its “small-town” charm. This beautiful island just opposite the busy island of Cancun is only 5 miles long and barely a half-mile wide. Surrounded by the turquoise waters of the Mexican Caribbean, Isla Mujeres boasts an average temperature of 80° F and the weather remains pleasant throughout the year.

Surrounded by coral reefs populated with a bounty of colorful marine life, Isla Mujeres is a paradise for divers and sea lovers. The natural beauty of the white sand beaches on the northern side and the stunning cliffs on the south form the breathtaking seascape of this enchanting island.


Isla Mujeres is only 45 minutes away from Cancun International Airport, one of the most important airports in Mexico, with direct flights from the largest cities in Europe and the USA including Boston, Miami, Chicago, New York, London, Madrid, Paris and Frankfurt.


The history of Isla Mujeres dates back to the Mayan Empire. It once held a sanctuary dedicated to Ixchel, the Mayan goddess of the moon, who governed fertility and the tides. The Spaniards discovered the island in 1517 and named it “Isla de las Mujeres,” which means island of the women, for the many female figurines they found on it.

As the years went by, Isla Mujeres became a favored refuge of buccaneers and pirates, and later, during the 19th century unrest in the Yucatan Peninsula, many people fled the mainland and came to live here.

Local Attractions

Hacienda Mundaca

One of the most interesting sites on Isla Mujeres is connected to the legend of a famous pirate: Fermin de Mundaca. According to the legend, this fierce pirate fell deeply in love with a local girl and decided to settle on the island. He acquired a huge piece of land and built an impressive hacienda, only to be spurned by his beloved. He is said to have gone mad from grief.

The site where this hacienda formerly stood has been converted into a museum and the extensive grounds hold a small zoo with local fauna.

El Garrafon

This marine park is on the southern tip of the island and it is one of the best sites for snorkeling on Isla Mujeres. There are also zip-lines and fun activities for the entire family.

Archaeological Remains

The Mayan ruins of a temple dedicated to Ixchel, ancient deity of the moon and the tides, can still be found on the southern tip of Isla Mujeres. While the remains are not particularly noteworthy in terms of size or architecture, the view from the top of the cliffs is positively breathtaking.

Whale Sharks Every year, from late May to September, hundreds of whale sharks visit the Mexican coasts as a part of their cyclical migration; their gathering site is only an hour away from Isla Mujeres by boat. Whale sharks are considered the largest fish in the world but they are quite gentle and pose no threat to divers and snorkelers. To swim among them is an exhilarating experience
