Parkside Cottage was the perfect quiet getaway for a landmark birthday getaway for my partner and I. Jim and Christine were highly communicative and gracious hosts and were diligent in making sure our stay was comfortable. The kitchen was well stocked and the perfect size for easy, on the run vacation meals. I was especially impressed by the sheer volume of additional towels and linens and other bathroom essentials available in the cottage. As there were just two of us we didn’t need much but the thoughtfulness was duly noted.Thank you Jim and Christine! If we plan another redwoods visit we will definitely have an eye out for Parkside Cottage availability!

We had a relaxed and very welcoming stay. We were there for two weeks and it became our home away from home. Its convenient, in town location made it easy to walk to restaurants and stores. Located in a safe and peaceful neighborhood, we promised ourselves we’d stay there again. Our hosts, Jim and Christine provide a wonderful stay for their guests.

Parkside Cottage is an amazing place to stay. Pristinely clean, close to town but quiet, lowest outdoor deck for morning coffee. Cozy, charming and comfortable inside with all I needed. Jim is a fantastic host going above and beyond to help as needed.

Great place to stay in Arcata

This was my first time to the area, visiting a niece on a short-term assignment north of Arcata. I was so happy to find this cottage! Perfect location, walking distance to the downtown area. It was nice and quiet, and the bed was super comfortable. My niece slept on the pull out, which has a brand new mattress, she said that was comfortable as well. The cottage was very clean, and check in and check out was simple. I highly recommend this to anyone visiting the area!

Great cottage

We really liked this place. Good size for two. The cottage was very clean and had a very comfortable bed. The kitchen was well equipped with quality items. No hand me downs like lots of other places we have stayed. Walking distance to town. We would stay here again.

Wonderful property

We had a great stay. Love this location for convenience to Cal Poly and downtown Arcata. Apartment was spotless and beautifully appointed. It was very comfortable and quiet. My only suggestion for improvement is to replace the sleeper sofa mattress (the mattress was so uncomfortable my son ended up folding it back up and sleeping on the sofa instead.). Highly recommend for 2 people.

We are pleased that you and your husband enjoyed staying in our cottage while arranging for your son to attend Cal Poly Humboldt. We understood that your son would be staying with you and your husband in the cottage for the first night only, so we refunded the three-night charge for use of the sofa bed. It’s unfortunate that the memory foam pad, which stays in the closet when not in use, was not used on top of the sofa bed mattress. Without the memory foam pad, it is understandable why your son was uncomfortable sleeping on the sofa bed mattress.

Absolutely perfect

Everything about this booking was ideal - from the hosts' kind & timely communications to the generously well-appointed, conscientious & comfortable accommodations to the wonderfully quiet & convenient location. My husband and I both believe we may never have slept in a more comfortable bed! We've decided this will be our top go-to spot from now on when we stay in Humboldt County. Thank you Jim & Christine!
