About Victor Oppenheimer
I've been spending summers on this property since it was originally purchased by my Mother and stepfather when I was a young teenager. After my mother passed away, I bought the property from my step father.
Why Victor Oppenheimer chose Industry
I bought this property from my step father because throughout my life I have found it to be a place of exceptional peace and beauty and also because each time that I leave the city to stay on the property I wonder afresh at its wondrous revivifying qualities.
What makes this Cabin unique
I love the combination the property offers of immersion in nature and healthy exercise as well as providing a personal retreat with easy access to the many cultural activities offered in the nearby college town of Farmington.

The location of the cabin is so remote, you can't even see your neighbors unless you're on the river. We went in mid October and the foliage was beautiful. We appreciated the manual from Victor helping us with directions for the stove and other tips and tricks. The lake and surrounding area is so gorgeous and peaceful, we didn't want to leave. It was everything we wanted and I'm so grateful it exists. My husband and I felt the time fly by listening to the loons, watching the lake and leaves fall. I and my cats loved the daybed and we all enjoyed the screened in porch. We loved taking one of the boats out and paddling around for a bit. We cannot wait to come back here and make it a yearly tradition.
Very Beautiful and Overall Worth it!
My wife and I enjoyed our stay at this cabin. It was a bit more rustic than it appeared to us in the pictures, and we did have some mice staying with us in the cabin that woke us both up with squeaking several times in our two nights of staying there. The first night we were there it was cold, but the wood stove was quite adequate to handle it and we were warm and snug in the cabin. The bed itself while not bad, sunk in the middle and forced the two of us to sleep very close together, we didn't mind it at all, but you might want to consider that if you can't sleep with someone else touching you... We made sure to wash all of the dishes that we were going to use, when we were ready to use them given the mice we saw scurrying around the kitchen, even while we were in there! Now, granted, it is the season of year that mice come inside in search of warmth and food, and while mildly inconvenient, the cabin was still worth it. The sunrise over the lake the first morning we were there was breath-taking! The fall colors were also perfect! Victor's instructions were thorough and helpful in finding the cabin in the dark, working the wood stove and helping us to have a good stay. We enjoyed the use of his canoe and overall we really enjoyed our time here. The cabin is a perfect blend of remote and close to town. Exceedingly private and very quiet! Thank you!
I had a great week relaxing, reading, swimming (even though the weather didn't quite cooperate, I still swam everyday), cooking, watching the fire, and napping on the porch. The lake is beautiful, crystal clear, and deep. I was grateful also that Farmington is pretty close and has a great grocery store with lots of local produce at reasonable prices. If I'd had a few more days I would have spent a little more time investigating the town. I enjoyed the book store on my way out of town but could have spent more time investigating. This camp is a very special place, I hope to return someday. Thanks, Victor!
Stunning lake views
The cabin was clean and comfortable. the space is secluded so it's quite peaceful. We loved the outdoor shower and used the lighted path to walk our dog every night. The kitchen amenities could be improved, but they were adequate. The view of the lake is stunning and Victor kindly let us use his Sunfish for the week, so we got in several gorgeous days of sailing. Overall, this is a great spot and we look forward to going back again next year.
Wonderfully peaceful and private place
Loved my 10 days here. It's a great cabin in the "camp" style, very comfortable and spacious. And I practically lived on the screened-in porch! Given the new-building rules about properties needing to be a certain distance from water, it's very tough to find cabins like this anymore. So I was thrilled when I did, and it didn't disappoint.
And FYI, the cabin is a hundred yards or so beyond the last house on the street (the owner's), and on a gravel path through thick woods, and then there's nothing on its other side for probably a quarter mile. Bottom line, it's very secluded and private, while still being close to civilization.
By the way, that hundred-yard path (both straight and nearly completely level) is not a big deal, and Victor has provided a wheelbarrow for easy transport of luggage. Also, the bathroom IS a 30-40' foot walk from the house on a wooden path. Wasn't an issue for me, but if you're the type who needs their bathroom RIGHT next to you, you might want to factor that in.
Speaking of Victor, he's a lovely, kind helpful and very interesting guy who obviously loves and is proud of his property (it's been in his family for a long time), wants you to enjoy it as much as he has, and will do whatever he can to make that happen. I had several great conversations with him that could have gone on far longer!
I was traveling solo, so the place had more room than I needed, though I appreciated the ability to stretch out. A couple or even a family would fit fine. Also, I love my swimming, and the water is deep, clear and bracing!
Plenty to do in the area (though, you'll really enjoy hanging out at the cabin and doing nothing), and many good places to eat.
Amazingly peaceful and perfect family vacation. Thank you!!
Loved being so remote. Beautiful location and really enjoyed all the water toys!
