Romantic roof-terraced holiday rental in the center. Illimited free wifi.

Housed in the oldest part of Scicli and just restored, Via Tivoli with romantic roof terrace, is located in the center, a few steps from the late Baroque Church of St. Bartolomeo, on the way coming from Modica and Ragusa and opposite the rupestrian settlement of Chiafura.
The house is on two levels. Once inside, you are welcomed in a comfortable "rustic chic" living area, with fully equipped built-in kitchen and surrounded by stony walls very much loved by all the guests. In front of you, two ancient and imposing stone arches lead to two alcoves that have now become a the relaxation area with comfortable sofa and flat screen TV and an elegant bathroom with shower. The upper floor houses the romantic and bright double/twin bedroom, overlooking the lovely terrace.
We have furnished our house with love and care, trying not to miss anything our guests would love to find on holiday in Scicli in Sicily at any time of the year.

Perfect

Ideal for those wanting to explore S.E. Sicily. Very well presented house, tastefully decorated with all you would need for a holiday. Francesca was extremely helpful and gave us recommendations of restaurants, places to visit, etc. and checked up with us during our holiday to make sure that everything was O.K. WOW! What a find!

From ease of booking to promptness of response time, we knew that we had chosen the best place for our Sicili adventure. What we didn't expect was such a warm reception and knowledgeable host. Francesca not only greeted us in person but took time to welcome us to the picture perfect home that she and her husband had lovingly created. The location was excellent, enabling us to explore Scicli on foot and a very short and extremely scenic drive to some of the most picturesque beaches in Sicily. We can’t wait to return, not only for the ambiance and charm of the area but also for the unmatched hospitality .

Live like a local

Francesca kindly came to find and guide us to the house after we got lost in the maze of the old town following our drive from the airport. We arrived midafternoon feeling hot, tired and grumpy after a very early start. Francesca calmly introduced us to the house and gave us plenty of tips as to how we could enjoy our stay. Over the following days we got to see and enjoy the sights of Scicli and Ragusa province returning for dinner on the terrace or occasionally at one of the many excellent local restaurants. Francesca and Luigi were unobtrusive hosts but always available if needed.

A perfect week of sun, good food and sights

My sister and I stayed in the Via Tivoli house for a week at the end of May and really felt that we had been blessed with finding the perfect little house for our needs. We like to stay in places which give a feel for the local life and we certainly achieved that. Francesca was exceedingly helpful both with information before we booked our holiday and then by buying some basic provisions (we were arriving on a Sunday) and meeting at the bus terminal in Modica. She gave us some interesting insights into local life and politics. As we were not a 'couple', we wanted separate sleeping areas and Francesca accommodated our needs by putting a second bed downstairs in place of the sofa. The weather was perfect mid twenties centigrade and upwards which was a relief after months of relentless wetness at home in Wales, UK. We decided not to hire a car (in spite of being urged to do so by various tourist advisers!) and we really enjoyed using the buses and the train which, with a bit of careful planning got us everywhere we wanted to go. It also had the benefit of being more relaxing and meant that we rubbed shoulders with local people, trying out our embryonic Italian! The restaurants we were directed to by Francesca were great and we had some really good Sicilian food. Our stay also coincided with the festival of Madonna delle Millizie which gave us further enjoyable insight into local customs. The house is easy walking distance from the main square, the shops and all the touristy things you may want to see in Scicli. I would recommend a visit to Don Carmelo's restored cave dwelling which was inhabited by his grandfather. I look forward to a return visit to Scicli at some point in the future.

Italienischer Kleinstadt Urlaub

Wir waren im Winter hier. Die Unterkunft ist wirklich toll. Sehr stilvoll und perfekt sauber. Die Unterkunft eignet sich mehr für Frühling und Sommer, da es im unteren Bereich im Winter trotz heizen sehr kühl ist. Tolle Lage für einen Italienischen Kleinstadt Urlaub. Francesca war eine perfekte Gastgeberin.

Ein Juwel am Berg

Hier ist alles genau richtig: das Häuschen ist sehr schön hergerichtet, alles funktioniert, alles Nötige ist da, nichts ist überflüssig. Die Lage erlaubt italienisches Lebensgefühl in einer lebendigen und total sympathischen kleinen Stadt mitten im Weltkulturerbe.

Ein kleines Häuschen auf zwei Etagen in der Nähe des schönen Stadtzentrums von Scicli mit vielen Einkaufsmöglichkeiten, Restaurants und einer tollen Gelateria! Im unteren Stock ist es etwas dunkel und im Frühling eher kühl. Im oberen Stock ist es hell und wärmer. Die kleine Dachterrasse ist gemütlich. Die Umgebung bietet einige Möglichkeiten. Wir sind am liebsten, mit den MTB‘s in der Gegend herum gefahren, besonders der Küstenweg zwischen Caca D‘aliga und Sampieri hatte es uns angetan.

Schönes restauriertes Stein-Haus

Unser Aufenthalt in dem sehr schön restaurierten alten Steinhaus in Scicli war sehr schön. Das Haus hat alles was man für einen Aufenthalt braucht. Alles ist sauber und nach modernen Anforderungen ausgestattet. Franscesca, die Vermieterin, ist überaus freundlich, sehr aufmerksam und bestens organisiert. Außerdem gibt sie einem zu Scicli alle Informationen die man sich wünscht. Das Haus liegt nur wenige Gehminuten von allen wichtigen Attracktionen und Einrichtigungen (wie Supermarkt, Restaurants) entfernt. Scicli ist außerdem ein sehr guter Ausgangspunkt zu vielen Stränden, sehr schönen barocken Städten (wie Noto, Ragusa etc.) und Naturparks.

Idyllisches Refugium für eine Auszeit abseits des Tourismustrubels

Die Wohnung ist ein am südöstlichen Ausgang Sciclis, unweit der Chiesa di San Matteo gelegenes, mit Bedacht restauriertes zweistöckiges Haus mit einer kleinen Dachterrasse. Aus dem Erdgeschoss tritt man in eine schmale Gasse und hat es zu Fuß nur 10 Minuten zum Einkaufen und bis zur Piazza Italia im Altstadtkern. In der Küche ist fast alles Wesentliche vorhanden samt einem Induktionsherd mit 2 Platten und einem Luftentfeuchter, den man vor allem in kühleren Monaten nutzen sollte, weil es zwar oben, wo schon frühmorgens die helle sizilianische Sonne in den Schlafraum fällt, ein großes Terrassenfenster gibt, unten das Licht aber nur durch die Eingangstür hinter die dicken Mauern dringt. Im Winter (doch, auch im Süden Siziliens wird es nachts manchmal kalt) lässt sich das Haus im oberen Bereich gut (und durchaus bezahlbar) heizen, das Erdgeschoss bleibt aber kalt. Im Januar oder Februar schaden also ein paar dicke Pullover nicht, bis man sich bei der Küchenarbeit aufgewärmt hat. Das alles macht aber nichts, weil sich von hier aus bestens Ragusa, Ispica, das idyllische Sampieri und mit Auto oder Bahn auch Noto und Siracusa erkunden lassen – vor allem aber Modica (20 Minuten Auto, zweieinhalb Stunden Wanderung), wo sich bestens einkaufen lässt. Anders als fast alle Reiseführer behaupten, ist die Bahnanbindung in die Zentren des sizilianischen Barock, zum Beispiel nach Noto ausgezeichnet. Wer gern ein bisschen wandert, kommt mit etwas Findigkeit über die kleineren kommunalen Straßen gut zu Fuß voran und auch bis in die nahen Nationalparks. Das Haus ist für zwei Personen gut geeignet. Weil es nicht im Touristentrubel liegt und Scicli noch nicht so stark zur Luxuskulisse geworden ist, wohnt man hier näher und sehr entspannt am sizilianischen Alltag. Bleibt nur zu sagen, dass die Kommunikation mit den Gastgebern charmant und reibungslos ist, jede Hilfe und vielerlei gute Tipps umfasst. Man fühlt sich großzügig und fair umsorgt und ist in besten Händen. Da ist nur ein einziger Mangel: Man möchte nicht wieder abreisen. Unbedingt zu empfehlen!

Nur wenige Schritte ins Barock-Kleinod...

Wir wurden von Francesca sehr freundlich in perfektem Deutsch begrüsst und haben eine Mappe mit tollen Tipps bekommen. 2 Tage sind für diese Gegend viel zu wenig, da Scicli sehr zentral zu vielen anderen Sehenswürdigkeiten liegt. Das Häuschen ist sehr nett, hat alles was man braucht und ist super sauber. Den kleinen Balkon haben wir Abends sehr genossen. Scicli ist ein wunderschönrs Barock-Kleinod mit einer ganz tolllen Altstadt. Wir wären gern länger geblieben...

Entspannter Urlaub

Hier lebt man mitten unter Italienern und fernab der Touristenströme in einer gemütlichen und gut ausgestatteten Wohnung. So passt man sich schnell und gerne dem Lebensrhythmus des Südens an. Scicli ist ein wunderbarer und ursprünglicher Ort, von dem aus viele interessante Orte in der Umgebung sowie wunderbare Strände zu erreichen sind. Und mit etwas Glück trifft man Commissario Montalbano. Wir sind sehr erholt aus Sizilien zurückgekehrt.

geweldig huis in een perfecte omgeving, voor herhaling vatbaar

zeer mooie vakantie woning, wel wat weinig ramen maar in de warmte is dat wel lekker, ook het slapen was prima al deed de airco daar niet veel en was dus de raam open een welkome oplossing , Francesca is een geweldig lieve gastvrouw altijd voor je klaarstaat en je veel verteld van de omgeving. het plaatsje Scilci is helemaal top met cultuur en natuur de restaurants zijn gezellig en het strand is rustig en mooi maar vooral op korte afstand .

Schöne Unterkunft in einer schönen Stadt

Wir waren Ende Oktober in Scicli und haben den Aufenthalt sehr genossen. Das Haus von Francesca ist top gelegen, sehr ruhig und denoch zentral. Es gibt alles was man braucht, es ist geschmackvoll eingerichtet und es ist sehr sauber. Francesca spricht hervorragend Deutsch, Englisch und Französisch und hat uns wertvolle Tips gegeben. Wunderschöne Ferienwohnung in Scicli

In der Wohnung haben wir uns vom ersten Moment an sehr wohl gefühlt. Sie ist sehr schön, stilvoll und modern eingerichtet, perfekt ausgestattet, die alten Steinmauern geben ihr einen ganz besonderen Charme. Auf dem Balkon kann man mit den ersten Sonnenstrahlen, die über die Felsen schauen, frühstücken, und es lassen sich wunderbar die lauen Sommernächte (Ende September!) genießen. Die Wohnung liegt im Centro Storico von Scicli, in einer kleinen Gasse, mitten im sizilianischen Leben, dennoch ist es abends sehr still. Zu Fuß ist man in ein paar Minuten an der Piazza Italia, fußläufig sind alle Einkaufsmöglichkeiten, Bars, Osterie etc. zu erreichen. Scicli ist ein perfekter Ausgangspunkt für Ausflüge in die Umgebung, ans Meer, in die Monti Iblei, in die Barockstätte Modica, Siracusa, Noto ... Die Gastfreundschaft und Herzlichkeit von Francesca haben uns tief beeindruckt. Sie ist die Freundlichkeit in Person, und wir konnten sie bei Fragen immer telefonisch erreichen. Sie hat uns wunderbare Geheimtipps und viele praktische Informationen gegeben und uns sehr viel über Kultur und Geschichte der Stadt erzählt. Ihr eigens erstellter Stadtplan, in dem alles Wissenswerte eingetragen war, hat uns während der Tage begleitet. Wir freuen uns schon auf ein Wiedersehen in Scicli.

Comfortable apartment in a delightful small town

The apartment is newly renovated, with a modern bath and kitchen enhanced by the original stone walls and arches. A loft bedroom looks out on a sunny, private terrace. We found it the perfect space for a couple, and stayed for 4 nights. The apartment was spotless, and well equipped for the breakfasts and dinners we chose to cook there. It is located close to the city center, but is quiet with plenty of free street parking. Francesca is the perfect host. She greeted us with a bottle of wine and an annotated map of Scicli. She has compiled a large volume of tourist info for the surrounding region, and can offer suggestions for hikes as well as key details about which routes to take to nearby towns and where to park when you arrive there. She responds quickly and cheerfully to queries (like the time we accidentally turned off the power). Scicli is a fascinating place, the smallest of the UNESCO Baroque cities site. Besides the earthquake and its reconstruction, there is a significant social history of efforts in the last 50 years to move part for the citizenry from cave dwellings into other housing. We recommend Francesca, the apartment, and Scicli!

Piccola e perfetta

Molto carina, arredata da chi ama trovare una casa accogliente e con tutto ciò che può servire per una vacanza. Siamo stati in tre, due adulti e una bimba, per cui è stato aggiunto un lettino. Die einen wohnen in Palästen, die anderen (und das sind die meisten) eher beengt. Solch ein autentisches Tagelöhnerhaus hat Francescas Familie liebevoll restauriert und mit modernem Standard sowie einer Terrasse im Dach versehen. Obwohl wir von heute auf morgen gebucht hatten, war alles bestens vorbereitet. Francesca hat uns detaillierte Erläuterungen gegeben über Ort und Umgebung - und ist überhaupt eine Seele von Mensch! Scicli ist eine wunderbare Stadt, Barock wie andere auch, aber ohne Touristenströme. Im Ort gibt es alles, was zum Gelingen eines Urlaubs nötig ist. Und manche Händler kommen mit der Ape bis vors Haus gefahren. Nach ein paar Tagen gehört man in der Nachbarschaft schon dazu. Wer in Scicli Paläste besichtigt und hier draußen (5 min zu Fuß) im Tagelöhnerviertel wohnt, lernt viel über die sizilianische Seele. Es ist eng, aber kuschlig. Und gelebt wird ohnehin draußen.

I've dreamt for quite a long of the possibility to offer guests and friends the chance to discover this wonderful corner of the world: Scicli and its surroundings. This lodging ( C'era una volta) has definitely contributed to make my dream come true.

What makes this property unique

Via Tivoli, from the name of the street, as well as Via Piedigrotta ( https://www.homeaway.it/p441905) are two welcoming and charming holiday rentals in the center very close one to the other.
Both of them have been recently renovated maintaining the original stony walls, the wooden roof and the panoramique terraces overlooking the surrounding natural and historical landscape.
We tried to pay the maximum attention to all comfs to ensure a pleasant stay.
