Our Park Avenue apartment is in a wonderfully warm boutique hotel on the 3rd floor looking into the tree tops on quiet city street.
Make yourself at home in a spacious 900 square-foot, one-bedroom apartment in a prewar building, circa 1920. Our apartment is quiet, private and furnish by us in a contemporary style with real furniture, books, art and object D'art that makes it a home not a hotel room.
A little history of why we bought this apartment in the Lombardy Hotel. We live in the suburbs about 60 miles outside on NYC and we came into the city frequently to visit the Museums or attend the theaters or just have dinner with friends. We would drive in and then drive home at night. A friend of ours introduced us to the Lombardy in which they owned an apartment for many years and used it on their trips to NY. They invited us to stay there and we fell in love with the calm atmosphere of the Hotel and the warm attention or the staff.
We decided to buy an apartment. We bought apartment 303 and spent 5 months renovating the space. We installed all new wide width wood floors in the living room, a marble floor in the entry and beautiful wool carpeting in the bedroom. We tore down walls and created a open kitchen and a dining space. Removed the old bathroom and built a fabulous new one with walls of Italian designer" Porcelanosa" linen tiles, a walk in shower with a contemporary rain shower plus a hand held shower and installed all new European fixtures. Since, this is our apartment the bed is luxurious which translates to very comfortable. There is also a large walk in closet and a dresser with 6 large drawers.
We also choose art work from our own art collection and added some of the many books we have read and loved to the bookshelves in the living room. In both the living room and the bedroom there are 40 " flat screen TV's. In the living room you can kick up your feet and watch a DVD or attach to Netflix via the DVD player. In addition there is a radio/CD player in the living room.
The Hotel provides valet parking at the front door. You are greeted by name and your rooms are ready on your arrival. The housekeeper cleans the apartment in the morning and returns in the evening to turn down the beds.
The Lombardy Hotel is
The best of both worlds: the discreet privacy of an apartment, the full services of a great hotel. Every day your apartment is cleaned , beds made, the linen and towels changed and the dishes are washed and put away. You are truly pampered and on vacation. When you arrive back from the theater or a wonderful dinner you enter 303 and you find that the housekeeper has visited and straighten out the rooms , turned down the bed and left you a chocolate treat.

William Randolph Hearst built the Lombardy Hotel in 1926. The building is constructed with thick walls that make the apartment very quiet . Your neighbor will not disturb you and the apartment's living room has double insulated glass windows and the Bedroom has triple insulated windows to keep the city noise out.
The living room and bedroom face the tops of the trees on 56th Street and make a wonderful display when in flower.
You are on East 56 Street in a door man building and a few steps from Park Ave. At night the street is safe and it is easy to walk to and from the theaters and the hundreds of restaurants that are in the neighborhood. Many of the best Museums are near. Public transportation is within blocks of the Hotel.
You are in the Heart of Midtown East.
Come and enjoy!
We are active couple with grown children and many grand kids. We spend most of our time in Connecticut and have another home in California.
Milt Wolfson purchased this boat in 2011
We live in Connecticut, and were full-time NYC dwellers for twenty years. We bought, renovated and decorated this apartment in 2011 and spend several nights there every month, making use of it’s very convenient location to attend the theater, concerts and art exhibits. We love the neighborhood for it’s wonderful restaurants but are also quite happy spending the evening just entertaining or relaxing at home in our lovely apartment.
This is a home in New York and is furnished in a personal style with comfortable seating, art, photography in a warm and welcoming style.
The apartment has a wonderful library of all kind of books , novels, art books, biographies and for those who want to watch films a direct connection to Netflix or use the DVD.
The TV is a 40' LED Samsung with a great picture and is in the Living Room and in the Bedroom.
The apartment has a strong WIFI connection.
The neighborhood is the heart of Manhattan. One block from Madison Ave and two from Fifth Ave is the 2 world class shopping streets. Within walking distance are the best Museums in the City. The Theater District is a stroll away. Restaurants from the world class to the neighborhood hot spots are within blocks. The subway, busses are all near by to take you all over the city.
As a visiter to NY you may need help in getting reservations or finding out about whats happening around town. The Hotel's concierge will help you with anything you need.
We stayed for one night in Milt's beautiful apartment in the Lombardy Hotel. It was so nice to have the valet help us with our luggage, and park the car for us. Parking was only $38.00 per day, which is a great rate in NYC. We walked to Grand Central Station in the evening and to a deli for breakfast. The bed was very comfortable, bathroom was very clean, and the large living room was great for gathering with our kids.
Thank you Milt!
Great property - immaculate and clean! Large living area which was perfect for trundle beds for my two daughters, although the bedroom would have fitted both of these in as well as the bed that my husband and I slept in. Perfect location - a short walk to Central Park and all the great shops. We will be back for certain!!
We spent three nights. Location on 56th between Park and Lex is excellent. Condition of apartment pristine and spacious. Very quiet. Made for exceedingly enjoyable visit to Manhattan. Able to walk almost everywhere. Attendants at front desk very helpful. Plan to use again or our next visit to NYC.
Everything perfect. Easy to book, the owner was super responsive. The management at the hotel confirmed my reservation promptly. Pulled right up to the front of the hotel and the valet was there to take my vehicle ($38 per day with 1 "in and out" per day is a good deal in NYC). The room was even nicer than the photos showed and much larger than I would have thought. It was modern, spotlessly clean, and everything worked perfectly. The free breakfast each day was another bonus. Just awesome...book this property and I'm sure you'll love it. I know I will be back!!!!!
We were in NYC over the weekend and thought we would try VRBO rather than a hotel (my husband and I and teenaged daughter) since we like to have a little more space than a typical hotel. We were pleasantly surprised when we walked in the door of this unit--SO spacious, kitchen and bath were newly updated and a huge king-sized bed in the bedroom. Our daughter slept on a rollaway in the living room and during the day we just pushed it out of the way and there was plenty of room. It was nice and quiet at night (we noticed double paned windows in the bedroom!), but it is close to the hustle and bustle of the city. There is a great deli just around the corner where you can get pretty much anything from breakfast to a casual take-out type dinner. Hotel staff was courteous and professional. I would DEFINITELY stay here again and recommend it to others who are looking for a place to stay in this part of Manhattan.
The Lombardy Hotel is in a great location and this apartment was very comfortable to stay in. The living room area is quite large as well as the king size bedroom. Everything you need is right there. I would stay here again!
Easy access to all over NYC . Subway and Buses are near by.
Restaurants of all types are within blocks.
In building there is a coffee shop with fabulous coffee and tea and baked delights.
A hip restaurant is in the building Harlow and across the street are several other fine dining restaurants
This is the heart of the Manhattan.
