Why John or Cathy Adams chose Gold Country & High Sierra

Cathy and I purchased this property in 2009 after spending over a year looking for just the right get away. Upon arriving and seeing the property for the first time we knew that this was the spot. The realtor had given us the gate code and told us to drive up and take a look. As we drove thru the gate there were deer standing in the yard. I noticed the pond was spring fed and the river was right next door. The home was impressive and in great shape. The next day we contacted the real estate agent and we were able to enter the home. Impressive, everything we were looking for. Two years latter we were able to buy the vacation rental at the other end of the pond. This home is located in a park like setting with over an acre of lawn area, private dock, river access and picnic area. You will love it

What makes this house unique

If you are looking for a private get away this is the place. The property sits behind a private gated entry along the Tuolumne river with a large 3 acre pond. The home is spacious and well maintained. It is a beautiful property with a year around creek running through the back yard. The front yard has a large lawn area providing a park like setting and pathway leading to pond. This is a great place to relax after a day at one of the five close by reservoirs or day trips to the gold country or Yosemite National Park.

Perfect getaway location to get back to nature.

  • 5 of 5

This location is amazing. Right on the river and on a huge flat space with green perfectly manicured grass in the front of the house. Totally secluded. Cell phones were out of range so we were truly able to disconnect and get away. House was all equipped and met all of our needs. John and Cathy were great hosts, There if we needed them for anything (which we didn't) but not bothersome at all. Thank you Cathy and John. We will be back.

Best time ever

  • 5 of 5

The whole family, including the grandkids spent a week playing, hiking, swimming, fishing and just relaxing in the most beautiful spot we have ever found so close to home. The hosts, John and Cathy are the best ever. They were there for whatever we needed. The fishing was awesome. The grandkids caught so much fish I could barely keep up throwing them back and baiting there hooks. I had the most fun just watching them fish. The lake in front of the house and stream in the back yard is just like paradise. Had a great time. Can't wait to come back.

The home and property were better than the photos and provided a perfect relaxing place for our family to unwind. The owners were great and really helped us get familiar with the property when we first checked in. We will definitely visit again.

Unique property and excellent experience!!

  • 5 of 5

We had an fantastic experience at this property! John and Cathy are super responsive and flexible property owners. We spent 7 days there -- first half with the family (kids 2 yrs, 4 yrs, and 7 yrs old) and the second half with 7 adults for a work retreat / offsite. We trailered up our boat and spent the days on Don Pedro lake. When not on the lake, the kids just wanted to play outside feeding the goose / ducks, fishing in the pond, playing in the playground set, running around the grass area, walking along the creek in the back, and generally exploring the huge outside "park" area! Everything described and said about this rental are true -- highly recommend it and we will be back!

Amazing Hidden Gem

  • 5 of 5

We go boating every summer to Don Pedro lake. We are always looking for a house to rent verses camping but the pickings are slim. We were extremely excited to find this hidden gem. It honestly sits in a park like setting. It has a beautiful pond where you can paddle boat around. There is a stream running behind the house into a river. The grounds are SOOO well kept and beautiful. There really isn't a reason to leave the house once you are there. The owners went out of there way to make us feel comfortable and were there to help with anything that we needed. We will for sure be back! We are still in awe of this beautiful home!

Lush Landscape on a Relaxing Tranquil Pond

  • 5 of 5

This property was a true hidden gem and the perfect place for myself and family to come and enjoy the beautiful views of the mountains and river. The house itself is very secluded and private and sits on 10+ acres of very lush green landscape. The large bond and creek made for exceptional fishing. The house is very clean and comfortable with every necessity you would need to make yourself at home. The pond feeds a small creek that wraps around the house that offers an equally beautiful view to the back of the house that you get from the front of the house. The creek is full of bass and large bluegill that entertained myself and the kids during our stay. I was so impressed with the house and the amazing hospitality the owners showed us when meeting us at the property that I have already began my plans to re-book this property again. We had a great time.

La Grange is a small unincorporated community in rural Stanislaus County California. It is located along the Tuolumne River where French miners struck gold in 1852. Aside from its French population, the community included a significant Chinatown in its early years. At its height, the community had thousands of residents, but it was a largely lawless town. La Grange is now a registered California Historical Landmark district. Today a post office and elementary school still operate in La Grange. Also functioning is the oldest church in Stanislaus County, St. Louis Roman Catholic Church with a cemetery containing tombstones dating to the mid-1800s. Fishing and boating: There are five reservoirs within 30 minutes of the Pond House. Lake Don Pedro is the closest, about 10 minutes to the boat launch. Lake McClure is about 25 minutes. Other close by lakes include, Turlock Lake State Park and Tulloch Lake. Boating, water skiing, swimming and fishing are the major activities. Sightseeing: Yosemite National Park. Travel the John Muir historic Yosemite Trail (hwy 132) Yosemite Blvd thru the gold country towns of La Grange and Coulterville then on to the Yosemite National Park north gate. Travel time 1 1/2 hours. Historic gold country towns: Visit close by La Grange,Coulterville, Jamestown, Sonora, and Columbia State Park- all less than a 45 minutes drive. Relaxing: Stay home and enjoy the property. You may fish in the lake or the river. There is a peddle boat for your use on the pond and a nice dock area for viewing or relax in the shade next to the creek and read a book. Dining out: Louie's Place (Historic Saloon in La Grange ) built in 1897 is open 6 days a week and serves great prime rib and steak dinners, a must stop for dining out. Not into restaurant food? No problem! Pond House has a expansive and fully equipped kitchen and dining room. Dine outdoors during the warmer summer season and enjoy the park like setting and excellent views. There's a wealth of fun activities to enjoy when staying at La Grange Pond House. Bring your gold pan, family and/or friends and plan to stay awhile so that you can experience the wide variety of what this area has to offer.
