Family friendly resort

We had a great time at this resort and would definitely go back. The room had stuff for the beach, umbrella, beach chairs, etc which was a nice bonus! Pool area was also well kept and perfect for families.

Our stay

It was very family friendly and we enjoyed our stay. We were disappointed with the washer and dryer situation as a family of five. The ventless dryer took all day to dry clothes. We also thought the carpet looked like it needed to be replaced in our unit. There were geese/oil type stains. And we also thought that if we were there for 12 days that we should have been given cleaning service at least once during that time. The construction was also annoying but we knew that when we rented the property. Kids had a great time overall and we would still recommend Honua Kaimaybe just a different unit.

Nice place to stay with little ones. Pricey but everything is on Maui. Shop at Costco if possible.

The condo was nice but needs a little attention. Bedding was well used but clean. Pillows need to be replaced but were useable. Condo was clean if you didn't look at the baseboards and doors. Cleaning staff probably do a good job with the amount of time they are given, but every now and then they need time for the details. The dryer is not vented so every beach towel took forever to dry and you can't hang anything on the lanai. It would be much more efficient if this condo belonged to the "Towel Club" at the pools where you could just exchange the wet ones. The price of running the dryer all day must be enormous but there is no other option. Hanging towels in the bathrooms does NOT dry them. The kitchen was well equipped. Sansei is the best for a night out. The staff are great and welcoming. The coffee shop on site sells really good homemade guacamole at a reasonable price!

Our condo was clean, roomy, and well stocked!

Thank you for helping make our Maui vacation great! Our condo at Honua Kai was clean, roomy, well stocked with beach towels, snorkel gear, swim toys etc. Also, there were baby/toddler items for guest with little ones. Our condo was just as it looked on the website and the views were fantastic. KBM was very easy to work with, returning phone calls and emails quickly and were prompt to email contracts and reminders. Check in was super easy and quick. (Which we appreciated after a long day of travel.) We would definitely book through KBM again.

I would highly recommend renting at the Honua Kai via KBM Resorts

If your Australian looking for upmarket MAUI accommodation at a reduced price then read this review.. We live in Sydney Australia and had been looking around for reasonable accommodation for our family to stay in on our holiday to Maui. We were just about to book directly with the Honua Kai resort and a TripAdvisor search directed our attention to KBM Hawaii Luxury Real Estate and Vacation Rentals. We found information about a 2 bed self contained apartment ( we rented 242) ( they also have several apartments on their books 1, 2 & 3 bedroom ). My husband was very concerned about us paying thousands $$ for accommodation to an overseas real estate company we don't know. I did quite a lot of research and checked a number of reviews on line left by other people and decided to take a chance and pay the $2900 US for 7 nights accommodation on line via KBM website. Booking directly via the resort was going to cost approx $1000 US more for 7 nights so the savings made it quite attractive. KBM cost also includes a small hire car via enterprise car rentals. We paid an extra $27 per day and upgraded our hire car to a Mustang convertible. Because we live in Sydney Australia our car insurance doesn't extend to hire car overseas like it does for residents of the US so we took up The comprehensive waiver cover at an extra $29 per day when we picked up the car. This gave us peace of mind because if anything was to happen to the car there would be no XS and no money having to be paid out. We found it a little difficult to get information about this it's a kind of hire car insurance cover because it's not widely used because residents of the US and have it automatically covered under their car insurance policies on their car at home. But after emailing the owner of KBM and then enterprise car hire I was able to get a copy of the insurance and what it covers before we left Australia. Payment via credit card was very easy on KBM's website. Once you've paid KBM are very good at keeping you informed and send lots of emails with step-by-step information on where to go how to pick up the rental car, how to get to the apartment etc etc. I thought that was very well done. When we arrived we were very happy indeed. The cleaners were just finishing up (as we arrived early) so we when and had a coffee downstairs in the resort cafe and when we came back the cleaners had left the door open to the unit with the keys inside. Shortly after a member of staff from KBM arrive to ensure that we had got into the room okay and everything was fine . The apartment is spacious and new looking and it a lot nicer than a 5 star hotel room we stayed in at Waikiki. We saved quite a lot of money because we were able to go next door to the supermarket and cook our own meals in the apartment kitchen. The apartment has a good size kitchen with granite bench top. Full size four seater dining room table lounge suite to seat 5 with TVs / DVD and cable TV stations All bedrooms also have new Tv's and cable channels. It has a very spacious bathroom bigger than I've seen any apartment before with a separate bath and enclosed glass shower. There is a large Veranda that extends from the master bedroom all the way out to the lounge area and that also has a four seater full dining room table and there's two chairs with footstools. In the cupboard next to the front door they also provide two sun chairs that you can take out to the beach as well as a good size esky, snorkelling gear, beach umbrella, sunscreen, six large beach towels and fly repellent They even have sandcastle making equipment for the kids. The kitchen is fully equiped including a kettle, toaster, all the cutlery and all the pots and pans, salad bowls plastic, plates and cups etc you need as well as a stainless steel oven, electric cooktop, Rangehood under the large microwave and a dishwasher. The fridge also has filtered water and ice maker which is very handy. There's another cupboard in adjacent to the kitchen which has the washer and dryer front loader that you can use and they supply enough washing detergent to do five or six loads. There was plenty dishwasher tablets under the sink more than enough to run it a few times a day every day of your stay. Enters the groceries are pretty much have to bring everything from the supermarket yourself as they don't include much they did however leave a salt-and-pepper a container of spices and a small container of honey other than that there is no food or condiments provided. So you need to get cooking oil or cooking spray and your normal food supplies. It might be beneficial for the owners of the apartment to provide some condiments normally when I stay in this types of self contained accommodation in Australia the owners generally supply ketchup ( or as we call it in Australia tomatoe sauce ) cooking oil etc. There is free underground parking also accessible for the apartment. The resort itself has three swimming pools which are lovely and a waterslide for the children which my seven-year-old absolutely loved. When you first arrive you need to go down to the information service counter near the pool to get a wristband so that the resort staff are aware you are a guest. You will need to show them your room key / security pass and they scan it on the machine to check your a guest. This has to be done every day. I think it's to try to prevent outsiders using the resort facilities. There was washing up liquid left on the sink and some paper towels which was helpful for keeping the place clean. Make sure you bring your own international wall plugs and iPhone / iPad chargers with you as none of these are provided. Other than that it's pretty good value for money and I would highly recommend renting an apartment at the Honua Kai via KBM Hawaii Luxury Real Estate. Aloha :-)

KBM was great! They provided answers to all my questions before I could even ask them. Their communication and check-in/check-out process was so easy and smooth. Our rental was wonderful and had everything we needed. We look forward to booking and staying with them again!

Spring break 2022 at Honua Kai

Honua Kai is a great property with lots of amenities in a great location and we always enjoy staying there. The only draw backs this time were the trash area on the floor and backed up with trash and it seems as if they are short staffed - the hallway floors could use some cleaning too. The rest of the property including the grounds, entrances, pools, gym, and barbeque areas were great.

Great Experience overall

We enjoyed our stay. The RFID wristbands were cool since I didn’t have to fumble with a key card for entry. Staff was exceptional. Some guests were creepy but that’s everywhere. Overall I’d stay here again.

Perfect vacation!

We booked this property by chance and had an amazing experience- we have zero complaints! The property was perfect for our family of five. The kids loved the pools and waterslide, my husband and I loved walking on the beach with poolside beach service and we all loved Dukes and the onsite cafes. We will never want to stay anywhere else on Maui. The second bedroom was a little noisy because its close to the elevator- a small white noise machine would help (we weren't bothered by the noise). It is a clean and refreshing unit with ocean views. Absolutely perfect!

We had a wonderful time at Honua Kai. It is a very comfortable condo with a pleasant view. Pools were lovely. Car rental was through Enterprise and very easy. Location is on a beautiful and less populated section of the boardwalk and beach. We will return to HK on our next visit to Maui.

Beautiful property with great location

We were overall really happy with the stay. Many positives: Great pool with cocktail service Great beach access Perfect location near beautiful Napili bay for hikes and beach time, but close to Lahaina where all the great food is. Great valet service and very friendly staff Very comfortable condo with all needed amenities KBM Hawaii rental company was easy and great to work with- when we needed more laundry soap they had some brought over (even though they normally don't do that) Only negatives were: the room was right next to the elevator shaft, so we could hear loud guests. Also the spare bedroom bed was horribly uncomfortable. My back hurt every morning and I tossed and turned all night even with extra pillows. We would definitely stay here again!

Pay top dollar for terrible service with KBM Hawaii

This is our third time staying at Honua Kai. It's our first time booking thru KBM Hawaii. Will never book thru them again. They leave you with a service number to call if you need anything. Good luck getting thru. You leave a message and they may or may not call you back. This unit says it sleeps 6. The sofa bed was in such terrible shape you could feel every single spring so whomever gets stuck sleeping on that will not sleep their entire holiday. We asked for an extra blanket at 5pm because one of our guests froze all night. We were told we would get it sometime the next day so she slept in a hoodie until our blanket arrived. We found two large cockroaches in our unit. Called the service line to tell them. No response. Finally had to message concierge and she texted them. They put traps in our place. Found some more after the traps were set, called and left a message, no reply. Sent an email, no reply. Had to purchase everything you need to cook anything. There's not a single condiment of any kind. They don't even have salt and pepper for you to use so prepare to spend a lot on very basic supplies including toilet paper, dish soap etc as the "starter kit" of supplies only lasts a couple days. The fridge didn't keep anything cold and all our meat we purchased from Whole Foods spoiled within a day or two of being there. Honua Kai is a beautiful resort. Other times our rooms have been amazing. I would highly recommend renting from a private owner, not from KBM Hawaii. They email you and keep in touch until you arrive for your holiday then they're almost impossible to get a hold of if you have any questions or problems.

Beautiful resort & great condo!

My husband and I stayed at the condo and Honua Kai resort for 7 days and we had an amazing time. The resort was great. There were so many pools and it was right on the beach so it was really easy and convenient. The condo was clean, roomy, and had everything you need including beach towels and chairs. We also really enjoyed working with KBM. They communicated to us clearly and answered every questions I had before I even had a chance to ask them! We arrived in the late evening too and they were able to meet us and checked us in very fast which was much appreciated after the long flight. Overall great place for a nice relaxation vacation. I would definitely book again!
