Growing up within a quarter mile of both Kinder Hawk Schoolhouse and our current farm, Jim, has intimate knowledge of the Albany township/Kempton area. Our main business is Robertson's Renovations General Contracting. We specialize in renovating older homes. Kinder Hawk will eventually become our retirement home - but we are still too busy with other things, like volunteering for the US Fish & Wildlife banding birds of prey, or volunteering for Albany Township Historical Society, gardening and grandchildren! We would love to invite you to experience true old fashioned PA German farm hospitality and welcome you into the family!
Owner purchased this Cottage in 2014
Why Owner chose Kempton
Kinder Hawk Schoolhouse used to be a part of our 40 acre farm. After many years of educated local children then being converted into a private residence, we were fortunate to be able to purchase the schoolhouse in December of 2014 and add it back into our farm!

Quaint, Quiet, Cozy
My husband and I have been taking an annual trip to Hawk Mountain for over 20 years. We were so excited to find this beautiful schoolhouse at the bottom of the mountain. The accommodations and the lovely setting made this trip our most memorable.
Cute little schoolhouse in a rural setting!
My aunt stayed here and loved it. The only drawback for her was the lack of an outdoor railing. Other than that she loved her stay!
A beautiful step back in time to a one-room country schoolhouse
The owners and their cousin thought of everything to provide comfort for their visitors. Games, books, shampoo, soap, contact lens supplies, food in the cabinet (that doesn't need to be refrigerated), you name it. It's truly a beautiful cottage, perfect for our weekend stay. The surroundings are breathtaking, too.
This was our second visit to the schoolhouse and planning to return next year!
My new place for peace and comfort
This was my second time staying at the beautifully historic schoolhouse. I couldn't wait to spend more time since the first was last minute and only 2 nights. Deb was so so amazing accommodating me! The welcome amenities were so thoughtful and practical. That bread!!! The grounds are so fun to explore! The history of that little cemetary fascinated me! I loved sitting with my coffee and watching the groundhogs. There was everything I could possibly need there. The bed was amazing! All kitchen basics. Only thing I missed on both trips was the gas grill that was supposed to be there but wasn't. No matter, I loved every minute and will definitely return again soon when I crave country and quiet and kind people. Thank you so much for sharing your beautiful treasure with others....
Quiet little piece of paradise
We spent 3 nights there with my girlfriend and it was really relaxing!
We got a complimentary "welcome" basket which gives a few excellent local products and the house was exactly as advertised! Spending the evening next to the fireplace was great and there was literally NO sound at night which coming from NYC was probably the best we could hope for... The area is nice to visit but we also spent an entire day hanging out next to the house in the sun which was very enjoyable.
The owners were very responsive and accomodating.
All in all, a 5-stars experience for a quiet getaway weekend!
Thank you so very much! We always feel honored when a guest chooses to stay in our historic schoolhouse and has a wonderful experience. Come back to visit soon!
All our best.
Jim and Cheryl
