Don’t want to give it too good of review because i want to rent it again next year.People might want to rent it if i give it a good review.I have been going to Bonaire 20 years not staying at the same place twice, but i will be at this place.Best place yet and John was great. We need to hang out next year .
Port of Call - heaven in Bonaire!
We had a chance to stay at Port of Call in Bonaire over Christmas and New Years this year and it was fantastic. The three bedroom home was perfect for our family of 4 and my sister and her boyfriend. The third bedroom is a separate unit that connects to the patio and it was perfect for privacy for the second couple. Internet worked great and he has a TV there for watching movies. There is no regular tv reception on it but it was great with our Netflix account. The reef right off the shoreline is awesome and great for the second dive each day as it's so simple and low effort to leave from your porch! It's also great for snorkeling right close to shore where there are lots of fish hanging out in the coral. There is a shower/wash station right on the beach for cleaning up scuba gear after each dive and showering the salt water off. John was very responsive to our questions and did whatever possible to make our stay enjoyable and stress-free. We felt totally safe and could lock the gate at night for added security. Easy walk to town, which we did every day, several times purchasing fish from the fishermen in the harbor along the way. We cooked our meals every day and usually used the charcoal grill for the meat. Gnats and mosquitos were a bother toward the end of our stay, so be sure to use bug spray and keep the bedroom doors shut tight. The air conditioning kept us cool when sleeping and the beds were comfortable. We would definitely book Port of Call again!
Absolute ideal place to stay in Bonaire!
This vacation rental was a dream, perfect for large families or 3 couples. Large living area, well stocked kitchen, awesome outdoor patio overlooking your private beach and the water. Each bedroom has a private ensuite bathroom. Stairs to the rooftop provide great views and is an enjoyable place for an evening cocktail. You can dive the Something Special dive site by just walking into the water from the backyard. Our morning routine was a cup of coffee, nice backyard dive and a big breakfast before heading out to other dive sites around the island. The house is on a quiet dead end street and is very private. Walking distance to the marina and other restaurants on the main road. John was very accommodating, meeting us at the airport and driving us to get our rental truck. We would absolutely recommend this to anyone who wants a large space to stay, to be able to make some of their own meals, and be able to just walk into the water and dive or snorkel. We would definitely stay here again!
Relaxing, convenient, comfortable stay!
We stayed for a week at the Port of Call. The place was wonderful, everything we needed and a great location! The dive site right off our back porch was one of the best we did all week for the bariety of fish lovated there.
The place was wonderful but John was even better, he continually went above and beyond to make our stay pleasant and hassle free. He even picked me up at the airport and dropped me off, offered to take me to the grocery store, was reachable every single time I needed something, told me everything I needed to know about the island, and in general was just a pleasant person to meet! Thank you John!
Beginner's Luck in Bonaire! Amazing Villa Right on the Water!
This was our family's first trip to Bonaire, and I truly think we lucked into renting the best vacation property on the island. Right in town and yet extremely private. Just one turn off a main road down an unpaved street. When you enter the house, your breath is taken away immediately by the view of the amazing colors of blue right outside your back doors!
This beautiful villa had it all! The kitchen had everything we needed to prepare the meals we decided to eat at "home." There is a washing machine and a clothes line available. There was ample seating for our group of 6, both for eating and for relaxation. The villa is situated in a way that it gave our group of three couples all the privacy we could want. The 2 bedrooms in the main part of the house each had bathrooms with walk in showers. The 3rd bedroom is more of a mini suite with its own kitchenette & bathroom. That bedroom has its own entrance with doors from both the front of the house and on to the covered patio/porch area beach side. There were ceiling fans in both the main living area and on the exterior relaxation space. There are doors and windows everywhere in the house that when opened create a great cross breeze, no matter which direction the breeze is coming from. Each of the bedrooms is equipped with an A/C unit to ensure a great night of sleep. Each bedroom has French doors that open straight out on to the covered patio facing the water. That view!
A bonus for our group was that one of the best diving spots on the island was directly in front of the villa. That dive site is called "Something Special." It had the easiest entry to the water of any of the dive sites that I personally went to. There is a marina right to the right of the property that has a rock wall that juts out into the water. That wall was full of all sorts of fish--easily seen by the snorkelers in our group. Truly spectacular. Unfortunately we didn't see it, but a humpback whale passed right by the villa during our stay! Plenty of space to rinse and hang up your dive gear, as well.
One of my favorite features of the house were the stairs leading up from the covered patio to the roof. I spent every morning sitting up there, watching the sun rise and reading a book. The perfect start to every day. Also a great place to do some star gazing at night. The shops in town are an easy 10 minute walk, right along the water on a paved boardwalk.
We LOVED our stay! You will too
