About Michael Sreenan

Our family has owned a small cabin on Long Lake on Bay Rd since the late 1950's. Every summer our family, (mom, dad, 4 sisters and 3 brothers, yes 8 kids in all) would go up to our cabin on Long Lake. In 2001 we bought the property next to the family cabin and built from scratch our Dream Lake House, with the idea that all of our families could go up and vacation together.

Michael Sreenan purchased this house in 2001

Why Michael Sreenan chose Sarona

We love fishing, boating, water skiing, tubing, wake boarding and going to lunch or dinner at the restaurants on the lake. We like to pack coolers and hang out on the sand bar for the day and stop off at Prop's for their famous ice cold root beer in chilled mugs and good food.

Had a wonderful week. The home was wonderful but the location on the lake may be the very best feature of all. We rented 2 fishing pontoons. The pier was perfect for two large boats. Best of all, we had some of our best fishing right out in front of the property. Nice walleyes, several keepers, a few nice northern and big slab crappies abundant along this entire area.

To the neighbors, my apologies. Some of our crew can be a bit Loud. We know now how voices can carry around the lake. If we are lucky enough to stay here next year, we will muzzle the culprits.

Highly recommend this lake and property for a quality fishing trip. Note that this lake can be a bit difficult to fish. Troll some black and gold crank bates 15' of water and you'll get em.

Great location and lovely home, but driveway and lake access in need of major repair.

  • 3 of 5

The Eagle View Retreat is a beautiful home, spacious and well stocked for a perfect get-away. Our family of eleven was very comfortable. And Long Lake is a gorgeous lake, clean and clear with resorts to rent boats and enjoy an evening out for dinner --- by boat, a real treat!

On the down-side, we were surprised when the family stayed in the apartment on the lower level of the home for the first night we were there. Also driveway access to the property is horrible - a dirt road with deep ruts and so slippery that it is difficult to get back to the road. It is in need of major repair! Also the steps down to the lake are uneven and the railing is wobbly. Not a very safe situation.

Owner's Response: Hi Carol, Thanks for your review! We listened to what you had to say and we have resolved these issues. We are glad to announce that the road situation has been fixed. We now ask our guests to enter via another entrance that is much more easily traveled (road name has been left undisclosed at this time for our guest's security purposes) and we have paved the driveway leading to our home. It is wonderful! We also took your comments regarding the wobbly railing leading down to the water seriously and have secured the posts in concrete. You couldn't get that railing to wobble if you wanted to!!! (not looking for anyone to challenge us on this ;-) It is our sincere desire that our guests enjoy there stay at our home. We take our guests reviews very seriously and always welcome your feedback whether it is positive or negative. Thanks again for your review!

We had a good time, but......

  • 3 of 5

The house was fine. It was clean and it provided adequate space for our children and grandchildren. The appliances were all good. The lake was bigger than we expected and provided a great recreation center for the family. Having said all that the property is located on a steep hill side. At the top of the hill was the neighborhood dumpster, around which was all the local garbage. The grounds around the house were really unkempt. The deck area had been used to clean fish or something and the table and wall it was next to were covered in a sticky mess. There were beer cans outside a lower door and rubble in an outdoor covered area. A tree had fallen across the path to the beach. The hillside and area around the staircase and the dock area had not been cut for a few weeks. As a result the grass was tall and filled with ticks. Everyone had ticks on them. The kids all enjoyed themselves, but once they left, we left as well, two days early.

Owner's Response: Reviews help me know what my guests like and what areas need improvement so thank you William A. for your review. I am glad to hear that the house was clean and spacious for your children and grandchildren to enjoy. Long Lake is a beautiful large lake and I am happy your family found it to be a great recreation center. The dumpster at the top of the hill is not a neighborhood dumpster. Unfortunately the renters before did not follow instructions and they placed their garbage outside the dumpster and did not place the chain back on the dumpster which allowed animals to get into the garbage and that is the garbage you saw laying all about. My cleaning crew notified me of this mess and they assured me that the mess was picked up once they were aware of it. The tree that had fallen was due to a huge storm that had come through on June 11th a few days before your arrival. I did have to get my insurance agent to come out to access the damage and it was pretty phenomenal. Unfortunately, acts of nature are not something any homeowner can prevent. I did have my property maintenance man remove as much of the tree that he could and I went up and removed the rest of it myself. For ecological reasons the Wisconsin DNR discourages mowing close to the lake in order to keep contaminate run off out of the lake which also helps keep the environment balanced and the water wildlife safe. Ticks are a seasonal thing and due to the warmer winter ticks remain active longer. Unfortunately, I cannot control the tick population in the north woods. I have, however, spoken with my groundskeeper about keeping the grass around the steps leading to the docks trimmed. The grounds around the house were to be maintained by my housekeeper. Unfortunately, I did discover, through your comments left at the house, and by own eyes when I came to the property, that the grounds were left unkempt and that the housekeeper was not taking the time to clean up outside of the house. This was also the first time that I have had renters leave beer cans and rubble outside and this was the same group that left the garbage outside the dumpster. These actions by the renters and the housekeeper are totally unacceptable. I have replaced my housekeeper. Thanks again for your review, I am happy to say that all the negative issues that were possible to resolve have been fixed for all future renters. Mike Sreenan

Perfect get-away

  • 5 of 5

My family's stay at Eagle View Retreat was absolutely wonderful. The house was well equipped with everything my family needed for a long weekend and roomy enough no one felt crowded even though everyone spent all weekend in the house because of the rain.

Mike (owner) was terrific to work with and provided us with all the information needed for the weekend.

My family and I would not hesitate to stay here again and would recommend it to anyone considering it.

Eagle View retreat Cabin was just a described. Spacious and clean. It was nice having the large pier for 2 boats. Fishing was good. We caught Northerns, Walleyes, Crappies, Smallies and Large mouth. Lots of eagles all around. Beautiful, clean lake. Mr. Sreenan had great communication and was responsive to our needs. Thanks for a great trip.
