Spacious apartment in a charming small Italian town a few minutes off the autostrada
The apartment is in Corbara, which is a small town, a few minutes' drive up the hill from the Angri exits of the A3 autostrada. It is convenient for Pompeii (a ten minute drive) and Naples (a less-than-30 minute drive in typical traffic). We used it as a base for visits to Naples, Herculaneum, Paestum, Pompeii, Capri. The road through the town continues south over the mountain to Amalfi.
Corbara is a real Italian town. We did not encounter a single other tourist or anyone who spoke English, but the citizens were mostly helpful and outgoing. A grocery and a butcher are a short walk away. There are good restaurants with friendly service. A larger supermarket is a few minutes' drive away in Angri, where there are banks and ATMs. The apartment overlooks the town piazza, which is very lively at night.
The apartment has a roomy kitchen and dining/living room. There is good air conditioning in each room. The top floor has a utility room and a spacious terrace with views of Vesuvius and the town piazza. There is no wifi, but we were able to use the wifi at the Hotel Valleverde, which is about a five minute drive up the hill. Parking can be scarce some nights, but we found a space whenever we needed one. If you have a car, this is a good base for exploring Naples, Campania, the Amalfi Coast and points south.
Perfect home base for exploring Naples and Pompeii and the Amalfi Coast
Our recent visit to the Amalfi Coast was made that much more special and authentic by having our home base in the small Italian village of Corbara, just outside of Naples. The villa overlooked a beautiful piazza and local church with Mt. Vesuvius looming in the background.
We would start of every morning with a cappuccino from the local café outside our front door and then do day trips to Ravello, Sorrento, Capri, Amalfi, Positano, Pompeii and a climb to the crater of Vesuvius.
Coming back every night to a clean, spacious and comfortable home, mingling and discussing our day’s adventures with the locals and then one more night cap cappuccino in the square, made this one of the most memorable trips ever!
Quaint town close to all major sites
Comfortable country home with great hometown feeling. Enjoyed a great time with my girlfriends - rented car and took day trips to amalfi, Ravello, sorrento Pompeii and Naples . Convenient location!!!
