Stay With Us & We'll Send You Home With One-of-a-kind Memories... Old West Style
This home is in the foothills of the beautiful Black Hills, where prairie meets mountains. We built it on a cliff, with a spectacular view. It has log siding, with subtle stone trim, and sits on 7+ acres, overlooking the horse barn and pasture. Our home is licensed and inspected by the state of South Dakota as a legitimate vacation rental.
The wraparound porch invites quality time in the fresh air of the Hills. A garage is included for your vehicle, whether it's 4 wheeled or 2.
While the mountain air cools the house comfortably, central air conditioning is available for those rare hot days; as well as a furnace, should the temp be just a bit too cool.
Offering 3 bedrooms, this home provides plenty of personal and communal space for up to 6 folks. Our rate is based upon double occupancy. Our fee for additional folks is $25/ person/ night.

About Bob Shedeed
We owned a hardware store for 30 years in Nebraska and decided to retire to the beautiful South Dakota Black Hills. In 1983 we joined the National Senior Pro Rodeo Association. This organization gives you a second chance after the kids are gone and you have worked long enough. Bob accumulated several championships in the NSPRA - 3 in the All-Around, 4 in the Ribbon Roping, and 6 in the calf roping. In 2009 through 2012, he was the World Champion Header in the team roping competition in the 60 plus age group. We also traveled in Canada and received several titles there. Donna won the titles in Ribbon Roping with Bob - he catches the calf, she grabs the ribbon off the tail, and runs to the finish line. She's won 4 World championships in the All-Around, 3 World titles in Barrel Racing, and Frontier Champion team roping heeler in 2007. So, after 15 years in this home, we built a second home down the road, to be closer to our big barn and roping arena. We rope every day we possibly can!
Bob Shedeed purchased this House in 2000
Why Bob Shedeed chose Hermosa
This home is in the foothills of the beautiful Black Hills, where prairie meets mountains. We built it on a cliff, with a spectacular view. It has log siding, with subtle stone trim, and sits on 7+ acres, overlooking the horse barn and pasture. We are centrally located to all that is good in the Black Hills.
What makes this House unique
We built our place on a cliff, overlooking the southwest valley. This one-of-a-kind view includes pasture, hills, our roping arena, and the biggest, bluest sky imaginable. Oh, and did we mention only 20 minutes from Mt. Rushmore and 15 from Custer State Park?!

Perfect location, perfect house, amazing views!!
We had such an amazing experience at Bob and Donna's house. The house is perfect - clean, spacious, with every possible supply you could need in the kitchen, bathroom, etc. The views are amazing, and we loved looking at all the neighboring horses and cows! Bob and Donna are wonderful and kind, and made sure we had everything we needed. Bob even gave us a fantastic Mt. Rushmore tip that made a huge difference in our experience! The location is central for all of the area attractions. It is very close to Mt. Rushmore (about 30 minutes); about 2 hours from Devil's Tower; about 1.5 hours from Wall Drug Store and Badlands National Park.
All of the bedrooms had comfortable beds, and the bathrooms were clean with great water pressure and hot water. The kitchen had everything we needed to cook meals - plenty of pots and pans, great appliances, and plenty of room for all of us to be in the kitchen at once. There were plenty of places to sit and spread out, and the front porch is a great place to sit and take in the countryside. The driveway is huge and we were also able to park in the 2-car garage.
Although we mostly stared out the windows at the beautiful views and did lots of sightseeing, there was really good Wi-Fi and cable TV available (with an awesome Wi-Fi password!).
Finally, Donna and Bob have decorated this house with amazing pictures, books, etc. from their championship roping careers, and we all were amazed with everything we read and saw. Staying here was truly a unique experience. Thank you so much for Donna and Bob for providing so much more than just a place to stay!!
Extremely clean, attractive home with room and amenities that serve the 4 of us very well.
This house is extremely well kept and spotless. It sits on a hill overlooking a beautiful panorama of the rolling foothills of the Black Hills. Bob was was a very friendly and accommodating host. He lives nearby and is very accessible. We were traveling with two singles and a couple, all adults, so the home's 3 bedrooms and two full baths worked out perfectly for us. One bedroom is actually an open loft so not as private as the others. The beds were very comfortable and the linens were fresh and abundant. Laundry facilities were available and nicer than what I have in my home. There is a double garage with opener to park in. You could eat off its floor! There is a gas barbecue and all the kitchen equipment you would want. The location is very convenient to all the attractions of the area (within 15- 20 miles of most) but just removed enough to be away from all the tourist hubbub. If you are a light sleeper and like to leave your windows open at night, the highway noise may bother you. Our family thoroughly enjoyed our three nights at this home and would come back in a heartbeat! Thank you for a great stay, Bob and Donna!
Beautiful view home was very clean and home was beautiful also
Everything about our visit was great. Loved the location. Parks was beautiful and our home was like home the place was beautiful the view was good had a good time
Wonderful home and view
We had a fantastic time, the house is located near everything we wanted to see. The house was large for 4 adults. The kitchen was well stocked with dishes and everything we needed. Bob was a wonderful host and we enjoyed talking with him. The house was very clean when we checked in.
Great location, beautiful view, friendly and clean.
Place was easy to get to. Bob greeted us at the corner, showed us around the house and gave us tips for places to go. Kids loved the extra space and loved hanging outside in the morning and evening. The last morning we were there a turkey and 4 chicks meandered across the front drive. Would definitely go back.
Comfortable house with a great view
Stayed here for a family vacation. Convenient access to all the Black Hills sites such as Mt. Rushmore and Custer State Park. Bob was very friendly and hospitable. Had a great time. We would come back!
This home is in the foothills of the beautiful Black Hills, where prairie meets mountains. We built it on a cliff, with a spectacular view. It has log siding, with subtle stone trim, and sits on 7+ acres, overlooking the horse barn and pasture. Hermosa (meaning "beautiful" in Spanish), is a quaint rural town conveniently located 20 min. from the "big" city of Rapid City, and along the foothills of the Black Hills. Our home is about 1 mile from Hermosa, and less than 1/4 mi. from Highway 40 (we have only about 1/8 mi. of gravel). Just a mile from Highway 79, we're conveniently located to many attractions in the Black Hills: 15 minutes to Custer State Park 20 minutes to Mt. Rushmore 25 minutes to Rapid City Regional Airport 35 minutes to the Buffalo Roundup 45 minutes to Crazy Horse Memorial 1 hour to the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally 1 hour, 10 minutes to The Badlands 1 hour, 15 minutes to Deadwood 5 minutes to Roy's Black Hills Twin Drive-In Movie Theater 5 minutes to Lintz Brothers Pizza
