We loved our stay here. There is plenty of room for all seven of us. The location is perfect... quiet but close to Fish Creek.
My only suggestion would be to provide new pillows.
A Great Experience!
We were very happy with the property and found everything very comfortable. The accommodations for 8 were just right. All of our family who stayed at the house loved it!
Great house and location!
The Pinecone guesthouse was perfect for our family. The house was very clean, the kitchen was well appointed, and the setting was quite tranquil. The location was ideal for access to peninsula state park and downtown fish creek. Having bedrooms on three different levels allows privacy for multiple groups. We’ve rented numerous houses through VRBO and this one compares favorably to other Door Cty houses we’ve rented. Two items of note, if you have small children, I suggest a baby gate for the stairs. Also, the high chair is more designer than functional. I’d suggest bringing your own. Otherwise, the house was perfect. Thanks for the great place to stay!
We loved the location and the feel of this lovely home. We were there with my three adult daughters and two granddaughters. I left a note for the owner about some repairs needed that they may not even know about. There is a steep open stairway leading to the beautiful master bedroom. I suggest bringing a baby gate if you have small children. The grounds and outdoor furniture and grill are awesome. The proximity to town is very convenient. It is on a quiet safe street which was really important to us. Plus, Penninsula State Park is practically in your back yard.
The Best Door County has to Offer
My family returned for a second year in a row to Pine Cone Guest House. Armando or Minerva invested in some excellent upgrades that made their wonderful vacation home even better than the year before. Notable improvements included new living room furniture (2 beautiful leather couches and two comfortable chairs), new pots and pans in the kitchen (full set of quality nonstick pans allow you to cook pretty much anything you need with relative ease), and a new high quality gas grill (pleasure to cook on. I seared steak at 600+ degrees). Also, the internet was recently upgraded, allowing us to connect our wireless speakers and even go outside the house with a connection.
The layout of the home fit our family perfectly. My in-laws stayed in the upstairs suite, my wife and I took one of the two bedrooms on the main floor with our twin sons next door, while Uncle John was able to sneak away to the basement and avoid the chaos of the morning rush. The four bedrooms offer plenty of space to get away from the family if needed, and the two entertainment areas provided a kids space and a grown up space for those moments when dad wants golf and the kids want minions.
One final note on the property. While we were there, the AC stopped working. It was quite warm during our stay. Armando was very quick to respond and had a repair group out for an emergency call within a few hours of identifying the issue. I certainly understand that issues with HVAC are part of home ownership, so I just bring this up to highlight how attentive Armando and Minerva are as property managers.
As highlighted last year, this particular location is excellent. It's a secluded wooded area just of the main road that takes you to Sister Bay, Ephraim, and Fish Creek. Fish Creek's downtown is walkable. Peninsula State Park is literally across the street. The location gives you a great launching point to enjoy all that Door County has to offer.
It was a wonderful stay in Door County and I highly recommend this property.
Wonderful house and location!
We loved the house! Perfect setup for my wife and me, our 3 teenagers and my mother. All beds extremely comfortable, rooms are well appointed and the whole place is very cozy. Location is excellent: walking distance about 15-20 mins to downtown Fish Creek (uphill on the way back but not bad) but also super easy to get on 42 north to drive to Ephraim and Sister Bay or get onto Hwy F to the Lake Michigan side of the peninsula. Just a few minor issues are the only reasons for not giving 5 stars:
The gas fireplace barely works; it puts out a small blue flame that’s barwlt visible. Not even worth turning it on. And the master bedroom door has windows. Never heard of a bedroom door with window panes. So you have to hang a towel or sheet over the door to have any privacy in the master bedroom. It’s “cute” but it’s not functionally worth the hassle. Otherwise the place is terrific and served our family really well for our awesome Door County vacation. I highly recommend Pine Cone guest house!
