Overview

About the property

3 Bedroom 2.5 Bath 1900's Country Charmer

This farmhouse was originally homesteaded as a dairy farm in the early 1900's. More recently we raised our large family here and have used it as a hobby farm, milking one cow, growing vegetables and collecting eggs. Surrounded by a working cattle ranch, you will relax in its old country charm, yet its location is conveniently only 1.5 miles to historic downtown Grass Valley, 2 miles to the Raley's shopping center or 3 miles to the gorgeous Nevada County Fairgrounds. On site manager available to assist with any needs.

About Michael or Allison Durham

We fell in love with Grass Valley back in 2000 on an anniversary getaway. The slower paced lifestyle and fresh air are only a couple reasons why we still make Grass Valley our home. We're confident you will relax and appreciate your time here too.

Michael or Allison Durham purchased this farmhouse in 2003

Why Michael or Allison Durham chose Gold Country & High Sierra

This property's historic charm and story "wooed" us from the beginning. We have enjoyed raising 8 children in this special home, along with a multitude of chickens, pigs, a dairy cow and vegetable garden.

What makes this farmhouse unique

This home's location is unique. While here, I feel so peacefully away from the busyness of life, but in reality I am only a mile and half away from historic downtown Grass Valley and all the convenience I need. NEW - TESLA destination charger installed and ON SITE manager to assist with any of your needs!

Help! I submitted a review several days ago but it hasn't been published, and just now I got another request to submit a review. What happened to my first review?

Owner's Response: It did come through Betty. Thank you! I think the computer must have generated that request. It's all good. Thank you again!

Loved our stay here!

  • 5 of 5

This past weekend four of us came to Grass Valley for our annual visit to the California World Music Festival. We've stayed at several places in the past, but this was a true gem and close enough to the festival that we could retreat to the house from the sun-soaked fair grounds for a quick refresher when we needed it. It's a beautiful home, very spacious and uncluttered, charmingly furnished in old farmhouse style with incredibly comfortable beds, air conditioning, and a fantastic shower. Be sure not to miss the clock in the living room -- we gathered around it several times at the top of the hour to see it put on an amazing "show." We made our morning and evening meals here (grocery stores were very close), loved having coffee on the front porch, and just wished we could have stayed longer to enjoy all that the house has to offer, including a game room. Allison was very easy to contact for any questions we had, and always responded quickly. We will definitely plan to return next year!

Nice country getaway

  • 5 of 5

I wish I had been able to spend more time in this home as it is absolutely beautiful. It stayed comfortable despite temperatures in the upper 90's...great air conditioning system. I had the pleasure one evening of spotting a deer in the back yard...what a treat!

Wish we could have spent more time there. Nice floor plan. Never felt crowded with 2 others. Beautiful grounds. Everything was provided. Nice owners. Would stay here again.

Nice rural setting

  • 3 of 5

For the most part, we had a nice time at Allison's ranch. It's a quiet and attractive setting. Allison was quick to answer questions. However, the king and double beds not very comfortable. They sag and should be replaced. And the two futons in the tv viewing room are worse than what you'd find in a low-budget thrift store--not acceptable for sitting or sleeping. Check in time at 4 pm seems unnecessarily late.
