Overview

About the property

3 Bedroom 2.5 Bath 1900's Country Charmer

This farmhouse was originally homesteaded as a dairy farm in the early 1900's. More recently we raised our large family here and have used it as a hobby farm, milking one cow, growing vegetables and collecting eggs. Surrounded by a working cattle ranch, you will relax in its old country charm, yet its location is conveniently only 1.5 miles to historic downtown Grass Valley, 2 miles to the Raley's shopping center or 3 miles to the gorgeous Nevada County Fairgrounds. On site manager available to assist with any needs.

About Michael or Allison Durham

We fell in love with Grass Valley back in 2000 on an anniversary getaway. The slower paced lifestyle and fresh air are only a couple reasons why we still make Grass Valley our home. We're confident you will relax and appreciate your time here too.

Michael or Allison Durham purchased this farmhouse in 2003

Why Michael or Allison Durham chose Grass Valley

This property's historic charm and story "wooed" us from the beginning. We have enjoyed raising 8 children in this special home, along with a multitude of chickens, pigs, a dairy cow and vegetable garden.

What makes this farmhouse unique

This home's location is unique. While here, I feel so peacefully away from the busyness of life, but in reality I am only a mile and half away from historic downtown Grass Valley and all the convenience I need. NEW - TESLA destination charger installed and ON SITE manager to assist with any of your needs!

Loved the charm of the house!! The grounds needed some TLC

  • 4 of 5

Loved the old farm hose charm with all the nooks and crannies very original! Loved the coziness of the home as well. The from grounds were nice to look at, but kind of disappointed with the back, when looking out at the quails and other birds was a joy but the grounds needed TLC. The two downstairs beds could use some refreshing. Allison is awesome she took took. Sry good care of us!! Over all our stay was great and a much neede relaxing weekend that we needed! Thanks again Allison!!

Owner's Response: After consulting the grounds keeper, They confirmed the leaf and pine needle mess after the wind storm. I apologize we weren't able to have them rake before your visit. It can be difficult to keep up this fall time of year. Nevertheless, it's all tidy....until next wind storm. We'll do our best! Thanks Sandy!

Awesome

  • 5 of 5

We were in town for our son's wedding at The Stone House. With all of the events going on it was a pleasure to stay at the farm house and enjoy the peace and tranquility. It was perfect for our family with all of the rooms and many sleeping arrangements. Everyone kept commenting on how CLEAN the house was. I would definitely recommend this cute peaceful farm house.

Perfect Stay For The Family

  • 5 of 5

The property was exactly as described and worked wonderfully for our family, which included 2 kids under the age of 4 and two grandparents. It was extremely clean and had all the modern amenities. The Nest thermostat was helpful in always having a comfortable temperature inside the house when outside it was 100 degrees. A bonus was the kids game/toy closet that helped keep the kids entertained.

Love this place and would stay again if we are ever back in the area.

spacious house with comfy beds

  • 5 of 5

4 of us stayed here for a long weekend: a couple in the master bedroom, 1 in the other downstairs bedroom & me upstairs with a whole bathroom to myself! :)

First of all this place is much bigger than you'd think; it was really nice to spread out & have all that room, & the house is charming. Beds were all very comfortable. Kitchen has a lovely greenhouse window looking out to the backyard where many blackberries were ready for picking. Very quiet, with the occasional animal sounds from the surrounding farms, & infrequent passing cars. We liked to lie on the lawn at night to look at the stars.

Communication was good, prompt & clear.

Will return!

Loved our stay here!

  • 5 of 5

This past weekend four of us came to Grass Valley for our annual visit to the California World Music Festival. We've stayed at several places in the past, but this was a true gem and close enough to the festival that we could retreat to the house from the sun-soaked fair grounds for a quick refresher when we needed it. It's a beautiful home, very spacious and uncluttered, charmingly furnished in old farmhouse style with incredibly comfortable beds, air conditioning, and a fantastic shower. Be sure not to miss the clock in the living room -- we gathered around it several times at the top of the hour to see it put on an amazing "show." We made our morning and evening meals here (grocery stores were very close), loved having coffee on the front porch, and just wished we could have stayed longer to enjoy all that the house has to offer, including a game room. Allison was very easy to contact for any questions we had, and always responded quickly. We will definitely plan to return next year!
