We are about two miles from The Empire State Mine, or 1.3 miles from The Nevada County Fairgrounds. We cater to families, & large groups and are an excellent value compared to a hotel or B & B... A Victorian Rose is a luxury four/five bedroom, two bath home with a hot tub in the Historic Downtown district of Grass Valley. Safeway is nearby and makes it easy to purchase foods to cook up something homemade in our well-equipped and modern kitchen.

Spa treatments can be arranged at a discount.

Set up a wonderful six hour Wine Tour with a gourmet lunch!(8 people min/tour)

About Catherine

We love Grass Valley and especially the downtown area. Owning a Victorian is a dream come true! Whenever we get a chance, our family vacations at A Victorian Rose. We enjoy sharing it's magic with others! People have taken their vows of marriage and honeymooned in our beautiful home.

Catherine purchased this house in 2005

Why Catherine chose Gold Country & High Sierra

Grass Valley is a relaxing place compared to our home in the Bay Area. We love the trees, fresh air and the many indoor and outdoor activities in the area. One of our favorite things about A Victorian Rose is its walking proximity to the downtown wineries, restaurants and specialty shops.

What makes this house unique

When we stay at A Victorian Rose, we usually have some work to do to our 100+ year old girl or we tend the small gardens, but we don't mind it at all, because it has such a magical, relaxing atmosphere. We love getting up early, drinking our coffee and talking on the front porch (even when it snows)and in the evening unwinding in the relaxing, warm hot tub.

Guestbook comments from the owner

If you are going to spend time in the Grass Valley

area, I suggest you check out A Victorian Rose. It's a cute Victorian with all the conveniences of modern life. It is beautifully decorated, private and very clean. It sleeps enough people comfortably to bring the whole clan. It also

has two full bathrooms which worked nicely for our two

teenagers. They also made good use of the TV/DVD, spa

and game room. I like saving money by not dining out each meal and the kitchen is well designed and supplied with plenty of cooking gear. Downtown Grass Valley is a short walk away. The ski resorts are onlya one hour easy

drive away! I enjoyed my stay at A Victorian Rose and I plan to return.

We enjoyed a girls weekend at Victorian Rose that was fantastic; everyone wants to go back. The house offers every amenity and the location is near to downtown shops and restaurants. The fall colors were spectacular!

Lovely home - in great location

  • 5 of 5

This is a delightful home in which to visit Grass Valley. It's close enough to walk to town and was perfect for our sister's weekend.

So much fun to sit out on the porch after shopping or dining and have a glass of wine under the beautiful trees.

The owner/ manager, Catherine was wonderful to deal with and was very organized which is always a help! Hope to be back soon!

Perfect

  • 4 of 5

Great space with all the amenities that you need. We had a group of 8 adults and 4 toddlers. The wall a/c units for the upstairs spaces were perfect to keep the rooms cool (a little loud for light sleepers if kept on at night). One bedroom upstairs easily fit a pack and play and a futon mattress ( provided) along with queen bed for 1 family unit. The other bedroom is a little smaller but could fit the same. The common room upstairs had 2 twin mattresses..probably the most comfortable beds in the house. The toy nook upstairs was a hit with alll the kids. The downstairs a/c window unit in the dining room worked great along with ceiling fans in bedrooms and extra standing fans in kitchen and living room. The house was unique in its Victorian style and is in a very quiet neighborhood. The man cave (converted from garage) was fun but a bit warm during the day. Grocery and small playground for 2-5 yo nearby. A bit narrow for active kids so we stored fragile decor away until we checked out. :) overall a lovely home.

Lovely home away from home

  • 5 of 5

This is my second stay and I really enjoy staying at the Victorian Rose. Two months ago I stayed here for a girls yoga retreat. I liked it so much I booked it for my husband and I to enjoy time with my son, wife and two grandchildren. Again, everything went perfect.

A lovely home

  • 5 of 5

A Victorian Rose was the perfect place for our family to stay during our daughters wedding at the Miners Foundry in Nevada City that was just a few minutes away. We had 6 adults and 4 children and everyone had a comfy bed!! The kids loved the sleeping area and toy corner upstairs and all adult children and their spouses had a private bedroom. Although busy with wedding preparations we were able to sneak some time on the porch in wicker chairs to relax. Beautifully decorated in antique furnishings, immaculate, and spacious with everything you would ever need including washer and dryer. A man cave for all to enjoy games and movies and a large hot tub that unfortunately we were too busy to enjoy. I wish we could have spent more time in the area. So much history and fun shopping. We hope to come back!! Thank you Catherine for your warm hospitality🌹?
