We strive for all our guests to have an enjoyable stay. We feel so blessed for all the positive guest experiences we’ve had on VRBO. We live out of state but have an awesome network team locally to help us solve any issues promptly. This was the worst guest experience we’ve ever had. The review they gave isn't exactly accurate. The guest arrived about 5 pm, at 8:30 pm arrival day we were notified the refrigerator wasn’t cooling. We called her immediately, concerned and asked her check / confirm settings and again later checked if the refrigerator was better. It was not. Freezer was working but fridge wasn’t cooling. (Unfortunately we found out later it was the fan motor). At 7 AM the next morning housekeeping was contacted & sent someone to assess, as the fridge is only three years old and it was unexpected the fan motor to go out. The housekeeper was treated so rudely. An appliance repair company was called & were able to get someone there same day. The guest complained about the time spent grocery shopping. We offered to have more groceries delivered so she didn’t have to waste more time shopping. She complained of having a turkey spoil and we question if there even was a turkey, the housekeeper didn’t see one. There is a beverage fridge in the unit besides the big fridge. Several options were provided until the repair could be made. A cooler with ice for a Turkey, access to lower unit the next day and $200 to dine out one evening, use of an other smaller refrigerator. All were declined. Then an offer for a full refund and refund for perishable foods was made. We wanted the guest to be satisfied. She chose a refund. A full refund including the night they had already stayed was issued plus $400 which was way more than the food cost. Upon vacating the unit was left a mess with trash everywhere, lights left on and door unlocked. All this happened in less than 24 hrs. of arrival. Something like a refrigerator fan going out is so unexpected and uncontrollable we would hate for that to happen to anyone. Our VRBO guest experience has been wonderful except for this one which was the worst. Sometimes unexpected circumstances happen. We were happy a repair man got there the same day. This guest was a very difficult person. We did our best to solve a problem and offer solutions. This guest lived a few hours away, we hope they had a safe trip home & enjoy their Thanksgiving.
