Newly Decorated Two Bedroom Cottage On The Tidal Marsh With En Suite Bathrooms

Enjoy the peace and serenity of our Marshside Cottage with the tidal changes of the Broad River and the transformation of the marshes on the tidal creeks. Relax on the back porch and read a book as high tide creeps up to your retreat. It's a nature lovers respite with birds, water and wildlife nestled among the live oaks draped with Spanish Moss, also known as bearded trees. Try your hand at fishing, crabbing or congratulate that new marine graduating from Parris Island. Launch a kayak to explore the many waterways. This area invites you to get outside ~ walk, bike or explore the vast amount of history in the area. It's a golfer's mecca with over twenty courses nearby. Shopping, dining and antiquing are in all directions. While away the day at the the multiple Tanger Outlet locations or visit the many thrift shops in the area.

Depending on the season and migration there have been over 250 species of birds spotted here. Many of the resident birds include hawks, ibis, kingfishers, herons, hummingbirds, egrets, turkeys, pelicans, wood storks, pilliated woodpeckers, eagles, and osprey. We've even seen whooping cranes here. Migratory Birds include hummingbirds, robins, painted buntings, blue birds, ducks and many more.

Get away to a year round vacation home nestled in the beautiful lowcountry of SC located in a central location only 7 miles from I-95 in an environmentally friendly community. Less than 40 min. away from Savannah, Hilton Head, Beaufort, Bluffton, Parris Island and a little over an hour to Charleston. Hunting Island State Park has one of the finest beaches in the area and it's a short drive to National Wildlife Refuges.

Marshside Cottage is a stylishly furnished two story home with two bedrooms, each with an en suite bathroom. The downstairs bedroom accommodates a king bed with access to the porch for those morning sunrises. Minimal artificial light provides magnificent views of the night sky as the moon rises over the marsh.

Upstairs is an open loft style bedroom with two queen beds . We provide a fully equipped kitchen allowing you to cook any or all of your meals. You're on vacation so save those dishpan hands, a dishwasher is included. Pack light as there's a washer and dryer for your convenience. About Greg Jucha

Elaine and I grew up far, far away and spent most of our working years in Atlanta, Ga. We retired in 2008 and having two rental properties in South Carolina, we moved into one of them. We have sold this one and are building a new house on Lady's Island near Beaufort, SC.

We enjoy traveling, good food, taking pictures, kayaking and I enjoy cooking, fishing and woodworking.

Greg Jucha purchased this cottage in 2002

Why Greg Jucha chose Ridgeland

We visited here on vacation a few times, became interested in the area and decided to purchase property here. We thoroughly enjoy the lowcountry. I don't believe we could envision ourselves moving away. Plenty of wildlife and people are friendly. It has a small town atmosphere but you're close to all the modern amenities and larger cities

What makes this cottage unique

Our home is nestled along the marshes of the Broad River. It is called a river but is more like an inlet. There are three rivers that merge in the headwaters here to form the beginning of the Broad River but when the tide comes in it reverses the flow of the rivers. We can have up to a ten foot fluctuation We enjoy three meals a day on the back deck, weather permitting and it is great to watch the tide come in and the many birds coming and going. Saltwater fishing regulations apply.

Everything we'd hoped for and then some!

  • 5 of 5

This cottage was beautifully furnished, impeccably clean, and completely quiet and peaceful. Plus, it's fully stocked with everything you could possibly think of and even the stuff you forgot. If you need to get back to nature and recharge, this is the absolute perfect place. Telling all our friends. We'll definitely be back.

Owner's Response: We tried to create a relaxing atmosphere in a beautiful setting. We outfitted our cottage with everything we could think of that's missing when we travel. I cook and many times we want to eat in and there's always missing something. I even travel with a fold up filet knife that I can use. Many times what knives are available won't cut butter. Other items are available in case you forgot to pack something. Come back to visit us.

Wonderful Waterside Cottage

  • 5 of 5

My husband, dog , and I really enjoyed our six day stay at the marshside cottage. The home was tidy, well organized, with almost anything that you could need was included. Ample area for dog walking and reasonably centrally located to Beaufort, Bluffton, Savannah, and the beaches. Highly recommended and we would love to return if we are in the area again.

A true "getaway"

  • 5 of 5

My daughter and I vacationed in North and South Carolina for the first time. The 4 days in South Carolina were spent at this cottage. It has a kitchen that is so extremely well equipped we were stunned. We cooked each day and it was so nice to take advantage of the local produce etc.

The quiet community and easy access to the freeway were really nice. It is kept extremely clean and the beds were amazingly comfortable.

The internet is very slow and not very strong and a clock in the upstairs bedroom would not hurt. These are minor things, in all the major areas this is a five star.

Clean, comfy, and quiet getaway!

  • 5 of 5

Everything was nice and clean and there were several little extras that the owners do that make this place nicer than some of the other places we have stayed. The furniture was nice and comfy as well as the bed slept well. We happened upon this place looking for something close to a job in Yemassee. This was our first time out near the marshland and we definitely want to return. My husband and I loved being out and away from town. It was so peaceful. We went out to Hunting Island and walked some trails and ate at a Johnson Creek Tavern restaurant where the food and the experience were both good.

The place

  • 5 of 5

The place was very comfortable, and very clean. The hosts provided for our every need. The area was quiet and the surrounding marsh scenery was pleasing. We especially like that the house was a short distance from many places, such as Hilton Head Island and shopping. We will be back.
