About Butler Ball

I am a native New Orleanian, this is my sixth camp and definitely the best one I have ever owned. I love fishing and water sports but my wife loves cooking, good food and family time. This "camp" gives us and you the best of both of those worlds. It is really not a "camp" but in this area even million dollar waterfront homes are called camps if you use them on the week-end.

Butler Ball purchased this house in 2015

Why Butler Ball chose Slidell

This one has it all. Fishing, water sports, crabbing and just relaxing with a water front view. You are only 25 minutes from New Orleans so anything you want to do there is a quick car ride away but you can retreat back to the peace and quiet of the Bayou!

What makes this house unique

Night fishing light on the pier, in fall and winter you can catch right off the dock. If you know how to throw a cast net you can even catch your own live shrimp off the pier!

Great place to get away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life!

  • 5 of 5

Our family of 9 stayed here last week and we thoroughly enjoyed it. The kids fished off the back deck, and set out crab traps out front and back. That was a new experience for them and they loved it. The house is well accommodated and Ms Sue next door is a blessing. We were there for the 4th of July and were able to see at least 15 different fireworks shows from the top deck out back. Butler is a great host and was very friendly and helpful. I highly recommend this place!

Great location but nosey neighbor

  • 3 of 5

We had a nice time overall. The house is clean and the location is excellent. We fished off the dock and even caught a mess of crabs. The adult kids even used the canoe.

The cons: Beware of the nice lady next door. She enters the home when you leave (or she thinks you are gone.) This was a BIG red flag for us as we caught her three times. I notified the owner and he did ask her not to do this, which caused a bit of tension between the yards.

The owner leaves his boat under the covered dock and an old jet ski is situated under the fish cleaning station. He also leaves the boat & jet ski trailers in the parking area so parking for "4" is not truly available.

I would give the location 5 stars, the house 4 stars, truth to the description 3 stars, and I just don't know what to say to the neighbor issue other than beware.

Owner's Response: I am glad you had a good time. As far as the neighbor, we have had 50 or so renters up to now and have never had a complaint so I was really surprised by your account. In fact most people love her and really appreciate her efforts to make sure renters have what they need. As far as the two trailers in the drive, we had a party the week after your rental and fit 6 cars in the driveway with out moving the trailers so I believe the listing showing parking for 4 is accurate. With the number of back to back 5 star ratings the property has I will let that stand on it's own.

Great fishing trip!

  • 5 of 5

Port of Call is a great place to stay for a fishing trip! The house is comfortable and the back deck area is perfecting for fishing and hanging out. The marina is right down the road and the people were friendly and helpful! Having Sue, the property manager next door is a bonus!

My family and I traveled to Louisiana to visit with friends and family. This was our first vacation rental and it exceeded our expectations. It was a please to work with Butler from beginning to end. His camp was awesome and met our needs to the fullest. I would recommend this vacation rental to anyone who asked. Book it now, you will not be disappointed. We look forward to our next stay!!!

Highly recommend. Great location and Family friendly.

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful Spring Break vacation at Paradise on the Bayou. This home is roomy and has great outdoor space on the water. The kids enjoyed fishing and crabbing. So much to do in the area also, kids loved the Cajun Swamp tour which was really close by. An added asset is the neighbor next door, so sweet and kind. She makes sure you have everything you need.
