Directions & Places of Interest: The property is best accessed from the east by the Torpoint Car Ferry which operates on a 24 hour basis. The journey from Torpoint to Kingsand takes about 15-20 minutes, via Antony, (turn left to Cawsand). Then follow signs to Kingsand, on entering the outskirts of the village, from Jackman’s Meadow, turn left to Kings and down Fore Street. The property is on the left and is opposite the gift shop. There is a local shop, open from 7:30 a.m. to 7.30 p.m.which sells virtually all needs for groceries whilst on holiday . Another delicatessen store is about 75 yards away and the beach is 100 yards. There are four pubs, The Halfway House (75yds), The Rising Sun, The Devonport Inn and The Cross Keys as well as another bar on Cawsand beach, they are all within walking distance. There is also a bistro on the way to Cawsand. The beach is safe for swimming and is protected by Penlee Point. A short drive away is the Edgcumbe Arms at Cremyll.
Booking: Booking & Reservations. There is no security/breakage deposit levied, but VRBO generally take a 50% sum when each booking is made, this will be clear when you reserve your stay, the balance of the rental is normally due one month prior to your holiday and on receipt, a key will be sent to you or you will be given information about collecting the key. There is no returnable breakage deposit at the moment. For convenience beds will be made up ready for guests when they arrive, we ask guests if they would remove the linen from the beds they use when they leave to help the cleaners on changeovers. Changeover day is normally Friday and guests are requested to always vacate at strictly 10.00am (unless otherwise agreed in writing), You will appreciate it is very difficult for the cleaner to do the work efficiently if guests are still in residence. (We would request that guests leave the property clean and tidy. We ask all kitchen utensils are put through the dishwasher too). Arrivals are from 4.00pm. Car parking is available at Napier Car Park and special weekly rates are available, should this be full, guests can off-load outside the cottage, normally local residents are very patient! & then park at the top of the village in Jackman’s Meadow. Out of season short breaks are also available.
Important The owners draw guest's attention to the fact that rubbish collection is normally by the cleaner now at the end of each stay, Please double bag rubbish, no loose please. It should be on the seagull proof bag by the back door. This is very important otherwise a mess will be made if the seagulls s rip open the sacks. We ask that guests please empty all the room bins too, to avoid two collections by the cleaner, All bottles, cans, paper etc should be separately packed for recycling. Your cooperation on this is important so as not to make an unpleasant job worse. Please would guests recycle all bottles if at all possible, failing that store separately in clear plastic bags. Unfortunately Cornwall Council have removed all local recycling facilities nearby. If there is anything you would like to discuss with the owners please message us on the VRBO system.

Lovely area, which we knew from childhood family visits. Loads for kids to do locally. Lots of nice local pubs with decent reasonable food. Great deli. House was perfect for us all. Comfy and spacious. Everyone was sad to leave.
Our stay at Jackdaw Cottage was wonderful. We loved everything about it! Thank you Rachael and Tony for sharing your very special home.

Older property on Fore Street on 4 floors.
Easy walk to the 4 neighbouring pubs with good food, and to the beaches at Kingsand and Cawsand.
Well equipped and comfortable home and excellent attention from host Tony.
The house is spacious comfortable and we'll equiped.
The location was a lovely surprise, the photos don't do it justice. There are many beautiful walks straight from the property. Mt Edgecombe I'd about an hours walk and there's a foot ferry that leaves from Cawsand beach to Plymouth if you don't feel like driving. Really enjoyed our stay.

Thanks so much for your review and we are glad you enjoyed your stay. Yes the property is in a great location, near the sea, walks, pubs and shop. Some friends visited from London without a car and it worked well.

Lovely old cottage, loads of room, ideal for large family. The kitchen had the best range of utensils I have seen in a holiday let and we stay in quite a few. Lovely open fire in lounge which is very inviting in the winter. Very clean and excellent bedding and mattresses. Perfect position in Kingsands

Scaffolding - not fit for purpose
Sadly this property is undergoing construction, with scaffolding up on the back of the property. It had mould on the walls inside and requires renovation. It is not fit for purpose by any means. Vrbo customer care was appalling. I called the owner directly and he refunded us, but we had nowhere else to stay at such short notice. Avoid at all costs.
Beautiful property. Beautiful location. Couldn't have asked for anymore. Hopefully will get to stay in the same property later this year or next summer.
A lovely property for a family visit to the area
Property manager responded well to enquiries

Lovely mid September stay in homely & comfortable house in tranquil Kingsand
We enjoyed the comfortable and relaxing feel of the house - felt like home straight away. Lovely walks on the coastal path and shoreline and visits to Antony Woodland Gardens and Mount Edgcumbe which are both highly recommended. The local pubs - all within a 5 minute walk are great and the food is excellent at The Half Way House and The Devonport Arms. Would definitely recommend Jackdaw Cottage to anyone wanting a quiet and relaxing holiday with beaches, coast path and good pubs and cafes on your doorstep.

Great location, with beaches and hostelries on the doorstep.
This property’s greatest asset is its location, right in the heart of the village of Kingsand, with several pretty beaches just a couple of minutes walk away.
We stayed here with our offspring and young grandchildren, and found the cottage comfortable and well equipped.
The beach at Cawsand is just a five minute walk away, great for spending most of the day building castle, rockpooling, sampling the excellent pasties and ice creams from the cafe.
Also recommend walking or driving to The Canteen at Maker Heights for a delicious lunch or breakfast.

An enjoyable stay and well located within the village.
A great location and plenty of room in the cottage (we were a party of 5 and had a room each). There are 3 local pubs near by and the food/service was great. Parking in the local carpark was also convenient. The cottage could do with a little update but this would not put us off from staying again.

Jackdaw Delight
Our stay at Jackdaw Cottage in the quaint village of Kingsand was simply wonderful. The cottage could not be more centrally located, and the nearby car park was most convenient. We were very comfortable and all needs were met in terms of bathrooms, bedrooms, kitchen, living room, and back yard. We were a party of six adults, and there was plenty of room for all. Local eating establishments provided a nice variety of excellent fare, and the beauty of Kingsand, Cawsand, and the magnificent countryside was enough to guarantee we will return. We can only hope that Jackdaw Cottage will be available when we do!

Why they chose this property
This is a large comfortable property, near the sea. It is ideal for family holidays with beautiful walks nearby. The Cornish coastline in stunning and there are many pleasant pubs nearby too. Unusually too, it has a sunny courtyard perfect for pre-dinner drinks on summer evenings. The property has old world charm, but it is an old building, and so does not have same conveniences as a modern one, which some guests may prefer.
What makes this property unique
The sea is just a stroll away, as are pubs. A local shop is conveniently located 100 yards away. Three pubs are just a few minutes walk.
