Kihei is noted for its year round sunshine, balmy trade winds, and soothing evening air. It is one of the driest and sunniest areas on the entire island, averaging only 10 inches a year! World famous swimming and snorkeling beaches are minutes away at one of the many sandy safe beaches at Kihei and nearby Wailea. Just a short distance (6 miles) from five championship 18-hole resort golf courses at Wailea and Makena. The two buildings frame and protect a large recreational area that is carefully attended and landscaped. The 60-foot swimming pool with its broad decks and abundance of pool furniture invites you to improve on your tan. Reviewer Comments: the grounds area was pretty nice! the wind was god awful but that's not the grounds fault, everything was well groomed and well taken care of! only fault I can see about the property was that weirdo security guard that kept hitting on all the guest while at the pool (like every day we were there), the condo was nice, and was great because it had a stove, full size fridge, and a washer and dryer inside the condo which made it super convenient for breakfast, lunch, and dinner!

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We have stayed here many times and love the location and views. There always seems to be a problem checking in and with the tv’s. This year was no exception. If you arrive a little early they won’t even check to see if your room is ready. Just kill time and wait, apparently all of the days room are ready at the same time. I didn’t count that many housekeepers but they must be there somewhere. Last year’s experience was even worse after the airline changed our flight and we got there at 10:00 AM. The cable company is a joke as they came to our room upgraded the system and told us they couldn’t get it to work right, left us with 3 remotes and basically told us to do our best. The resort was little help with this matter as every time they tried to help it got worse. Customer service is not high on their list anymore.

The grilling area was cleaned and taken care of everyday. Everyone was respectful of wearing masks in the elevator. The condo had perfect accommodations for the 5 of us. I am thankful for the murphy bed in the condo. It was nice to have the washer and dryer in the unit too.

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: The location was perfect! It’s literally right on the beach. It’s not a big beach, but you can at least walk it barefooted. The sunsets are beautiful. There are plenty of activities like tennis, shuffleboard, putting green, and playing at the pool. There are six BBQ’s available and every morning they are being cleaned. The grounds are clean and beautiful with tropical trees, bushes and flowers. Huge lawn area to allow kids to run! The condo was well equipped with everything, quiet and vacationers were all respectful. No issues with parking. Easy access to S. Kihei Road. My only reason for four stars are the AC units in all of the condos. They’re small and loud. A lot of them drip water and they’re run on a timer! The longest you can run the units are for four hours at a time. Not ideal in July when it is 80-90° with humidity! I’d find myself turning it back on in the middle of the night after waking up hot and sweaty. This was not a pleasant experience nor was coming back to a hot stuffy condo when out all day. This is literally my only complaint though. I would come back again just not in July.

The grounds are beautifully maintained and it’s a short stroll to the beach. Seeing turtles right there was a plus. Kudos to the maintenance and landscaping staff! The gas grills were a plus as was availability of beach chairs, umbrellas and boogie boards.

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: All in all, we had an enjoyable experience at the Maui Sunset. The rooms were fantastic! Clean accommodations, with friendly maintenance staff and meticulous cleaning of facilities. Gorgeous setting, with a fairly good beach... rocky bottom, so bring your water shoes. Great location in Kihei, only minutes away from Wailea, and Lahaina. Only a couple disappointments that didn't yield a 5 out of 5 for our overall experience. With a Family including kids under 10, the pool was very restrictive for noise, pool toys, and in general 'fun'. Feels like Maui Sunset has extended the resort to Family use over time, but is majority 'Senior owned' community. A bit frustrating to be sold a Family environment, but main amenity for the kids - the pool, is so limiting.... where pool toys, and games like Marco Polo are a no-no. We were spoken to by the 'activity coordinator' at the pool whom we labeled the fun police / pool nazi by the end of our trip, because our 5yr old was using his 'outside voice' playing with his 2yr old sister. Same with other families that our kids were playing with. Had a couple of Senior owners be passive aggressive to us in regards to the kids at poolside also. I would highly recommend this be communicated to families before they spend the money, because this could be a deal breaker for some families. Other issue were the room upgrades that were being completed next to our rooms, no advance notice. For three days there was loud construction activity happening from 8am - 5pm. So kids couldn't nap in the afternoon. Would have been nice to know in advance to manage our daily schedule differently. Again, outside of these two items that were more of a nuisance, Maui Sunset is a nice high quality resort, at a great location, at a very competitive and manageable cost! Most likely would consider it again when we come back!

I loved how the kids could go down to the grass courtyard and just play and how the condo was not a super fancy hotel. Perfect family place. However we had two mishaps, our airconditioner broke and the maintenance man never came to fix it, and all the times we asked we weren't allowed to take out the glow in the dark bocci balls.
