Location-Location-Location - Riverside sits on its own private bank of the river Derwent with steps leading down to a jetty . Nestled just below the famous jaws of Borrowdale and within Wainwrights favourite square mile in England's prettiest valley with 360 degree mountain views. A myriad of high and low level walks from the door - Various hotels and cafes within reasonable walking distance . Off road gated parking for up to 2 cars .
Abundant wild life with deer -the occasional otter - rarer red squirrel ( not recently ) and very fast Kingfishers...
Many weeks are taken by returning guests - some who visit bi annually.
For 2025 1 couple will be spending their 21 st year with us .
Just Look at the Pictures!!!!! And book early . Our 2025 calendar is filling up ... Bookings being taken for 2026 ..
Please note our cancelation Policy is better than stated .
We will give a full refund at any time subject to us being able to re-let (less a £50 administration fee)

We ask for you to leave Riverside in the same condition as found.

Car Parking - Riverside has 2 reserved spaces only - no trailers . Addition vehicles will have to use public car park 100 yards away.

Relaxing cosy stay

The cottage is in a good location for walks and a short drive to Keswick, when we entered there was a lovely welcome pack in the kitchen for us and as soon as we unpacked we felt at home, having the river just out the back of the property was very nice as was the log burner.

Ideal

Absolutely beautiful spot by the river, with the little bench and the sunrays. Everything possible thought of, complete kitchen, clean, neat and very tidy and did I mention how beautiful the location is...? We had a wonderful stay and I highly recommend it.

Beautiful cottage - views of the mountains from every window and a river running behind. Great location with lots of walks straight from the front door. Cottage was warm, clean, well equipped and cosy. Lovely welcome pack on arrival.

The property is in a good location for walks and a short drive to Keswick, you can also get straight on the River from the back garden if you have a boat which we will do next stay.

Beautiful

The cottage was beautiful and the surroundings were majestic. The house was wonderfully furnished and everything you could need was provided. Our host was lovely, he communicated what we needed to know and gave us great recommendations. We have recommended this property to the rest our family.

Riverside Cottage

Just a beautiful cottage in a wonderful setting and we were lucky enough to spend the week there … everything you need in comfort .. the best welcome pack we have ever had .. Jonathon is a great host and made us feel very welcome .. we enjoyed being surrounded by nature in the cottage gardens and we loved sitting on the little patio which is perfect for watching the birdlife on the river go by. I highly recommend Riverside Cottage in the stunning area of Borrowdale.

A gem of a cottage

Riverside is a comfortable, homely property in a stunning location. Situated right on the riverbank in beautiful Borrowdale, there was wildlife in abundance and lovely walks on the doorstep. The friendly owners provided a super welcome pack on arrival. We will definitely be returning in the future.

Riverside Cottage

Wonderful cottage set in the Borrowdale valley near Grange. Very nicely furnished and spotlessly clean. We enjoyed using the log burner (and free wood) for cosy evenings. The views of the garden and the river from every window were exceptional. You can enjoy countryside walks directly from here without using the car. Keswick and a whole host of things to do and see is just a few miles away. We wholeheartedly recommend this property.

Amazing home away from home

From the second you walk in, the thoughtfulness of the host is obvious. The house is extremely tidy, clean and organised yet full of the things that you need to live there. If you are staying for fell walks, the location is perfect. Easy drive to multiple setting off points such as Cat Bells and Scafell and also Keswick for food and shopping. The surroundings are so quiet with the river bubbling in the background. We will return for sure!!

Lovely cottage in a stunning setting

Great communication prior to trip with owner who allowed us to park up early to get a walk in before check in. Lovely cottage with a kitchen that has everything you’re likely to need. Cosy lounge with dual fuel fire and enough room in the 2 double bed rooms for all your clobber. Plenty of birdlife to be seen from the comfort of your own lounge, including woodpeckers, nuthatches and treecreepers, amongst others. Johnathan and Jash make you feel at home and I would certainly recommend this cottage to friends and family, and the wider public.

Amazing riverside property

We spent a very happy week in this gorgeous house - very well equipped and comfortable. The garden, including a lovely balcony overlooking the river, is beautiful and perfect for bird watching. My sons enjoyed the proximity to the river and swam/paddle boarded (in February...!) There were a few issues with fuses blowing during the weekend we arrived, but this was quickly sorted and we had no more problems for the remainder of our stay. Thank you, Jonathan, for sorting out these problems, and for sharing your lovely house. We would love to return.

Wonderful

It was very hard to leave at the end of week!! The setting and view was amazing - along the river with the mountains as a back drop. The beautiful garden going right down to the river invited us to spend many lazy, warm afternoons snoozing under the trees or watching the wildlife. Since the river is shallow we also braved the chilly water on several occasions to wade, swim and look for the minnows. We did several walks of various difficulties that could be started right from the cottage, no need to drive. The hosts were very welcoming, always available for questions or a friendly chat. Made us feel very comfortable. It was a perfect holiday cottage for the family!

De eigenaars hebben er alles aan gedaan om het de gasten zo geriefelijk mogelijk te maken: alles ligt er netjes gekuist bij, er televisie, de keuken voorziet in alle moderne behoeften. Alleen het dubbele bed in de slaapkamer achteraan is wat krap als men thuis een groter bed gewoon is. Verder geen enkele negatieve opmerking. Het is een ideaal vertrekpunt om de omgeving te verkennen, zeker voor wandelaars.

Outstanding cottage, ideally situated, super clean, excellent hosts

Simply home from home. Log fire was amazing. Very thoughtful welcome pack, hosts on hand for anything you may need. One of the best places we’ve stayed in the the Lake District. Lovely walks from the door, outstanding grounds teeming with wildlife, quiet and secure. Highly recommend for up to 4 people.

Wonderful holiday

We had a fantastic week here. It is such an idyllic location with many walks from the door straight into the countryside. We saw so many birds both at the feeders and along the river, which was brilliant for kayaking. The cottage was modern and very well resourced. The owners were really friendly and helpful and took great care to ensure that our holiday was as good as it could be. Thank you for a great week.

Wonderful find!

The photos don’t do this gorgeous cottage justice. We had a fabulous week walking and coming back to this lovely space for complete relaxation. Loved our dip in the river at the bottom of the garden!

Hello. My partner and I moved to beautiful Borrowdale after holidaying here since Childhood. It was a dream that came true after living in the Midlands for 39 years. I often still say to my children that I still cannot believe we live here.

Fantastic views, situated in the Jaws if Borrowdale (Wainwrights favourite square mile of the Lake District). Walks from the door ,5 hotels/restaurants between 2 and 15 minutes walk. Peacefully situated on the banks of the River Derwent with off road parking. On the main bus route to Keswick which is just 4 miles away. Immaculately clean and quality furnishings. A real cosy home from home.
