Newhaven is a spacious holiday home that is ideally situated 100 metres from Porthleven Harbourside and 400 metres from Porthlevens long sandy beach. The popular 18th Century fishing village of Porthleven, near Helston in Cornwall is renowned as a holiday destination, offering tranquil surroundings, excellent food with a large selection of award winning restaurants, cafes and pubs. Art galleries, gift shops and a variety of water sports and boats trips all available in the harbour. Combine this with fantastic sea views and a long sandy beach which also offers a dog friendly section all year round - the perfect place for a relaxing holiday.
With a view of the harbour head from the master bedroom, Newhaven can accommodate parties of 4 to 6 in three bedrooms and has a good sized secluded private front garden with patio and barbeque - ideal for alfresco dining. Located just a two minute walk from the harbours edge and five minutes from a long sandy beach which stretches miles along the coast to the famous Loe Bar, this is the perfect place to spend a holiday by the sea.
Porthleven is a beautiful village which has managed to retain its wonderful Cornish charm. It has much to offer with a supermarket, restaurants, fisherman's pubs, many interesting quayside shops to browse selling arts and crafts and a village supermarket. Here you can spend many an hour strolling around the harbour and watching the boats bobbing up and down on the water, or the fishermen returning home to unload their daily catch. Alternatively, just sit back and take in the breathtaking views out to sea and across Mounts Bay. It is no surprise that Porthleven is popular with visitors all year around. During the summer months, the cliff tops are dotted with an abundance of wild flowers and in the winter, the dramatic sea makes a fantastic back drop for walkers enjoying the coastal path that stretches from Lands End to The Lizard. The pretty bustling market town of Helston is only two miles away and offers plenty for visitors of all ages. The town has an interesting mix of Georgian and Victorian architecture and offers a good selection of shops, pubs and restaurants. Being the gateway to the Lizard Peninsula and the Helford River, the Helford Valley has many beautiful villages to visit, set amongst wonderful rolling countryside.

About the host
Hosted by Sarah Dring
My name is Sarah Dring, I live in the Cotswolds in Gloucestershire with my husband & three teenage daughters. I have always had a great love of Cornwall having spent many happy family holidays there as a child & later worked in a small Cornish coastal hotel.
I enjoy the sea & the beach & the rugged Cornish coastline
& think there is nothing quite like being by the sea & hope one day to live in Cornwall so I can enjoy it all the time.

Why they chose this property
We bought Newhaven in 2001 having decided that Porthleven offered everything we were looking for as a family holiday destination & have since spent many happy holidays there enjoying the area at all times of year.
We choose Newhaven as it offers good family sized accommodation & we were particularly attracted to the private & secure sunny garden which offers a great alternative to the beach if required.
Newhavens proximity to the beach & harbour & local amenities, all within literally 5 minutes walk of the house is also very appealing as this means that there is no need to use a car unless desired.
The coastal path, which is easily accessible from Newhaven, stretches in both directions for miles of beautiful rugged coastline, passing tin mines, with views over to St Michaels Mount.

What makes this property unique
The easy access to the beach, harbour & harbour side shops, restaurants, pubs, craft markets & ice cream parlours all just a stroll down the road is great & means you are never short of something to do come rain or shine.
Enjoy the simple pleasure of just sitting on the harbour side watching the many boats bob up & down or the fishing boats going about their business or the local gig racing team setting off out to sea.
Venture further afield & there are numerous beaches, National trust properties & activities all within easy access. The local market town of Helston, offers a boating lake & Flambards theme park. Falmouth, St Ives,Penzance are a short drive away.
There are coastal golf courses, the cliffside Minack theatre, fishing trips, seasonal festivals & many other things to see & do.
