About this property

Architect-designed villa, spectacular sea views, pool

A Savin Couëlle designed villa set high on a hill overlooking Pitrizza Bay, the National Marine Park of La Maddalena and Corsica in the distance. In front of the villa is a secluded garden surrounded by oleander and olive trees while at the rear of the property is a private terrace, garden and small, kidney-shaped pool. The main level of the house consists of a living room, front terrace with expansive sea views, kitchen, guest WC and rear terrace with covered dining area and small gas grill. The lower level includes a large double bedroom and a twin bedroom, both with en-suite toilet and showers. The twin bedroom has French doors leading to a patio and front garden. The top floor of the house consists of the master double bedroom, en-suite shower room, and a top terrace with spectacular views in three directions. The nearest beach is a 15 minute walk (2 minute drive).

Outdoor seating: The top terrace has 4 teak chairs and table, and a teak sun lounger. The main level front and rear terraces have ample seating with cushions. The rear eating area has a large stone dining table with chairs, small gas grill, and kitchen herb garden. Two teak benches are available in the garden.

Pool: The pool is kidney shaped, circa 7m by 4.5m, with no shallow section. It is at least 1.60 meters deep throughout. There are teak sun loungers near the pool. The pool is available 1st June - 1st Oct, or by separate arrangement at additional cost.

Garden: The private garden has a number of bougainvillea, oleander, hibiscus and other flowering shrubs, a mature fig tree with excellent fruit in season (Aug/Sept), a small lemon tree, bay trees and various kitchen herbs.

WIFI/Internet: Villa now has good internet connection (download speed up to 30 Mbit/s) provided by STEL Italia (installed 2023). Good WIFI signal is available throughout the villa.

Parking: There is off-street parking for 2 cars behind an electronic gate.

NOTES:

Villa is not suitable for children younger than 6yo nor for anyone with impaired mobility due to staircases in the villa and steps in the garden.

Pool is open 1st June thru 1st Oct. Pool can be kept open on request, payment of £150 per stay/week.

We love this villa- it has charm, wonderful views from several locations inside and outside, a wonderful pool area and immediate vicinity (within walking distance) to several very good restaurants. This is the third time we have stayed in the villa, and we will come back again!

Had a wonderful stay at this property. Communication with Michael was perfect; he responded to messages promptly and was also so friendly and helpful. He gives so much information about the local area and top tips and places to visit. The property is quirky and the views are stunning. The kitchen has everything you could possibly need. The property is also very close(Walking distance) to shops and restaurants. The pool whilst only small is superb, just perfect for cooling off and the beaches that are in easy driving distance are gorgeous. My son and his wife enjoyed walking to the Porto Cervo marina everyday after breakfast for a coffee - I would highly recommend this property to anyone looking to stay in this area.

Amazing house and location

Beautiful vacation home

We spent 10 wonderful days in this original home from the 60s when the Costa Smeralda boom started. In addition to having wonderful views and an old garden, it felt like participating in that history of homely architectural design inspired by Gaudi. Can fully recommend for any party using two bed rooms.

Small but lovely

The top two things about the villa are the views and the neighborhood . Lovely , wish they upgrade the outdoor grill for some real cooking.. It was a great experience overall.

Great place with amazing views. Everything we needed for our family of 4. Only observation is that house is not ideal for tall people (3 out of 4 members of family are over 6’5”) but we quickly got adjusted and didn’t think about it much. Owner was lovely and communicative and cleaning lady was a doll.

This villa is not only beautiful and romantic, the villa is also located in a very nice area with everything nearby. The views are the best ever seen. The garden and pool are very private, kitchen is very well stocked. Communication was very easy and friendly. Highly recommended!

Wonderful property

This getaway is one my girlfriends and i do every few years to celebrate our friendship since high school. This is the best property we have stayed at in 40 years due to its location, surroundings and general ‘feeling of home’. i would recommend renting a car so you can explore the beautiful towns that are relatively close. We dined out each night with some not so great experiences but our favourite place was Retro Resto with by far the best menu as well as servers. I highly recommend stayin at this property and will most definitely be back again with my family in the near future.

Beautiful home and location

2 adults and 2 kids at 8 and 10. Lovely home with a great little pool and excellent location with a marvelous view of the bay. Well equipped and AC units in all bedrooms. Close to great restaurants and stores. I would not recommend for families with very young children, older people with balance or walking issues or very tall people due to lower ceilings in staircases etc. Overall a really great week for us.

A truly wonderful property. Charming, delightful and well equipped. Craftsmanship exuded from every corner. We were 4 active but older adults from the USA, one with knee and hip problems and he managed the steps just fine albeit a little slowly. The pool was excellent, large enough to swim and have fun in, close to the house yet totally secluded from it and any other nearby property. While the house has all the modern conveniences, it retains its vintage charm in most areas and stands out well because of that. The local area has some good restaurants within walking distance, and many others are a very short drive away. The location is excellent, close to all that you might want to do in the area. The caretaker spoke English well enough to communicate easily, and could not have been more charming, informative and accommodating. The Internet worked well. I would stay here again in a heartbeat. Excellent value for the Costa Smerelda. Highly recommended.

Fantastic holiday at Volpaia

A truly stunning location- the villa has amazing views and is very comfortable and well equipped . Lovely quiet residential area with a local beach just 10 minutes walk away. Excellent choice of restaurants within walking distance. We couldn’t have asked for more and had a really lovely holiday. Gorgeous house and stunning views

We stayed at this beautiful home with our adult daughters and their partners, and couldn’t have asked for a better place. We loved the design of the house, outdoor spaces, and pool area. There was plenty of room for all of us to gather, and there were many areas to be if anyone needed alone time. The kitchen is well equipped. The views from the house are stunning. There’s a cafe and grocery store within walking distance, and several restaurants nearby. We had a delicious meal at La Briciola just up the road from the house. Several beaches are only a short drive away. Stopping for gelato at Patisserie Pace became a ritual on our way home from the beach! There’s a comprehensive information binder that was very useful. Both Bruno and Michael were quick to respond when we had questions. We’re missing Volpaia already!

Stunning villa, surroundings and location

First stay in Sardinia and we were so lucky to stay at Villa Volpaia. We are a family of 4 (incl. grown up daughter's boyfriends). We found the villa to be charming (on a level that is difficult to describe) with a lay-out of rooms that fit our family perfectly. (3 separate bedrooms with walk-in bathrooms). The lay-out of the villa allowed us to spend time together but also find a private spot when that was needed. The villa is truly unique. The architecture is very charming, and the interior decoration is full of charming details that continues to reveal itself during the stay. The villa contains everything you need when on holiday: Good tips for where to shop, buy groceries, which beach to visit, dining out (do try the pizzaria on the corner and the agriturismo). The list is long:-) In terms of what you need in the kitchen, you are all good to go - from coffee bean grinder to cooling box :-). So... the villa (and Sardinia) comes with our highest recommendation and we hope to be able to return one day. /charlotte

Sardinia & Villa Volpaia are what vacation dreams are made of!

If my title doesn't speak for itself, then I'll just add that we had the most amazing family vacation at Villa Volpaia due to the absolute uniqueness of the home... the architecture, the gardens, the balconies & the views! All of it stunning. Liscia di Vacca & the charming little street that the villa is on, felt like like a perfect nook amongst the glitz & glamour of Porto Cervo & the Costa Smeralda. Was just our speed, and we simply adored it. On a more practical note- the handful of restaurants within walking distance from the house were perfect for our needs, as well as the market & pharmacy. Bruno the caretaker was easy to communicate with and was super helpful when we had a minor issue. This is by no means a negative thing, but the stairs in this house are no joke! It is clearly stated in the description, but I didn't give it much thought to be honest. I'm only mentioning it here because we had a 7 year old and a grandmother with a bad knee, and the stairs became the topic of much conversation during our stay. ;) Beaches and other excursions were easy to get to from the villa, (with a car), and we appreciated all the information in the book. (Although we spent too much money at the linen shop in San Pantaleo thanks to that suggestion, haha!) Many, many thanks for sharing your special home with us. We hope to be back someday!

Belle maison dans un beau quartier

Une tres jolie maison dans le plus pur style des années 60 dans un quartier assez calme avec une magnifique vue. Dommage que nous n'ayons pas été prevenus que du personnel d'entretien de la piscine ou du jardin venait régulièrement le matin ce qui peut gâcher notre intimité. Sinon, tout s'est bien passé.

My wife spent several summers in the Costa Smeralda as a child in the 1970s. She came back in the 1990s and together we fell in love with the beaches and unique charm of the area. We purchased the villa for family holidays but only use it a few weeks a year. We wanted to share our home with guests, and hope they can relax and enjoy it like we do.

Why they chose this property

Savin Couëlle's unique architectural style shines through in this little jewel of a villa in Liscia di Vacca. Its quirky, organic shapes, its well-designed layout that maximizes the villa's hilltop location, and wonderfully private location make this villa a truly unique experience. Original ferro-battuto metalwork and Cerasarda tiles add to this quintessential Costa Smeralda villa.

Note, the villa is unlikely to suit visitors looking for hipster, ultra-modern style. The villa lacks a high-definition big screen television, Sonos sound system and hot tub. Its furnishing are traditional Sardinian fabrics, ceramics, artisan metalwork and carved wood.

What makes this property unique

We enjoy the villa primarily for 3 reasons. First, its organic architecture is wonderfully sympathetic to the environment. Second, the villa's location is incredibly private yet we can walk to restaurants, cafes and a supermarket. No driving needed for good espresso, gelato, superb evening meal or pint of milk. Beaches are close by, although we recommend hiring a car to access the many beaches in the area. Third, the villa is a much-loved family place, relaxed and unpretentious, where parents with children are welcome. Having been used by our family for over 20 years, we're delighted to welcome guests to the villa's unique charm and personality.
